The fact that little unmodified Samurai did so well against those trucks either with lifts, traction controls or off road tyres is just amazing. The little engine that could!
Calum they aren’t trucks though
they are the best offroad vehicle standard bar none.
Bruce McDougall damn right, i own the generation after this myself!
Yeah I remember my buddy buying one almost brand new when I was a kid. Thing was awesome. Too bad we had no clue how capable they were back then, we were only like 14 or 15 years old and he was probably 16 or so.
Jeeps are trucks lmao
The Suzuki should get extra credit for not being modified
all season tires too boot. Pretty awesome.
all days tires HAHA
And the Landrover should be disqualified for not being "budget" and "cheap" as the title reads.
@@cannonball666 even modified the Discos are still very cheap 4x4s. Cheapest in their class by a long shot.
Kevin Steele. You are right on the money there with that whole statement! But I also have to add a few more things to that. The poor Sammy is even more let down by the (Guy's) poor maintenance on the running gear of the Samurai and have the presence of mind to actually try and make this run off of the three of them as reasonably close to each other's vehicles and at least have the decency to appear to make it look equal to the other two. And have the correct information on them all as well! The carbureted Sammy's engine is 46horse power up until the end of 89 when they started production of the throttle body injection and that engine is rated at 65hp and the longer stroke 1.6-8valve engine in the Sidekicks in 89 was rated at 81hp. But the drag race was kinda a setup from the last few videos of the series to try and make the Sammy look even worse and if they had just simply some of the basic maintenance on the running gear and get the carburator repaired and the ignition system brought up to snuff and replaced the fluids in the driveline components to reduce the parasitic losses to maximize the running gear they wouldn't have been able to catch up with him with that large amount of a head start! Next whomever told them to keep the tires aired up to maximize the ground clearance and deal with the consequences of a set of tires that are very dry and a terrible tire for the lightweight of the Sammy and it just seems like over and over again Tommy and his father wants to degrade the Samurai over and over and over! They've done nothing but handicap the entire series and leave it completely stock with completely worn out part's and make statement after Stament that it's a very rough riding and basic vehicle and there's Nothing they can really do to change it! And worse when they did finally get a new set of tires on it they went for the cheapest option to keep the tire and available traction on the lowest possible levels while they buy part after parts for the Jeep's and the other vehicles in the test fleet! I have been working on Sammy's for 30 years and it's Paramount to have a correctly tuned carburetor and correctly timed engine and the valves correctly adjusted for the power to be even close to the factory 46hp levels but when they are they have no problem getting down the highway and getting to 65mph on Small tires! My stock carbureted Sammy is easily capable of doing 65-70mph on a set of 30inch BFG AT ko tires and get fuel mileage in the lower 30mpg. But it's correctly tuned and taken care of. But it also doesn't hurt knowing how to drive off road as well. But also why didn't they put the Sammy in the middle of the two of them on the highway to share breaking through the wind going up hill? O well I hope that you all have a great time with your Sammy's and if anyone is near the Northeast of the country and you're looking for a Samurai to own one! I have a bunch of them from stock to fully built and carbureted ones to the 94 fuel injected one's! Best wishes. Bill
"Other British tech, that slight rod knock you hear. Handy feature." 😂😂
The woes of cheap unleaded when it requires the top shelf stuff...
That engine was developed in the US by Chev.
I died laughing at that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂 and the safety feature of dripping oil as you drive. So if you get lost just follow the drips of oil home. TheBest4x4ByFar. 👍😁
I’ve owned those LR’s and seeing this one really makes me want another ♥️
Dean S Buick actually.
Absolutely love these budget rig tests! I know you guys are a review channel so you test the latest 80 grand stuff, but honestly this kind of video is my favorite since it deals with stuff normal people actually can buy. Thank you for all your work making this content!
Much more entertaining than watching them "test" $45k+ poseur trucks that will never leave pavement.
I did Hell's Revenge in my 2018 Raptor. That was entertaining, Plus, I got to blast to 100+ on the way back from Moab.
@@ftboomer1 I bet that was fun. I'm so glad you actually use your Raptor for what it was designed to do. In my neck of the woods, in the 5 years I've been into off roading, I've yet to see one even on a well graded forest service road.
Raptors are really sweet off road. I hate seeing people buy them and never take them off road. What a waste of money
Uh uh. Plenty more peeps want to see the Tremor, PowerWagon, and AT4 all go back and DO HELL'S REVENGE, or HELL'S GATE, or GOLDEN CRACK when there is NO snow.
All 3 of those vehicles were respectable in their own right - but the diamond in the rough was the unmodified Samurai which kicked butt - way to go Nathan!!
My friend had a samurai that he lifted a little bit and put bigger tires on and there's some engine modification and I think was mean ever go anywhere
I agree, I think Nathan killed it. And for way less money, on street tires. When the suzuki first imported them in to the U.S.. I had a friend go from MD. To FL to buy one. At that time I had never even heard of the samurai.
A jeep without a 4.0 is like a pizza without sauce. You're missing the best part.
The new 2.0 Turbo brings it
Sure... And Japan makes some other things which sort of compete a bit more directly. Those are also pizza without sauce. (but not cheap for reasons.)
Japan 👎
Tom Giffin you are high..... it’s a 2.0 firstly.and secondly it has a turbo that makes it 15hp less, but higher torque than the 4.0
@GKeeper316 Not sure where you are getting your info from. Must be reading on some inaccurate site instead of actually owning a jeep (fanboy)? Nobody was ever debating that the engine has changed. It has evolved for sure.
And there is not a 2.0L Turbo diesel in the new JL's. Sorry guy, stop being so angry.
Where I am from, we call the suzuki Samurai: "The mountain goat"; because it can climb anything like a mountain goat.
You can order the base models with whatever extras, so you don't have to hunt for dealers that have them.
Ppl who don't experience goats don't really understand the gravity of the statement.
@@restartrestart581 for sure. I've seen them climb up ledges that 4 wheel drive ATV's have trouble with and then get driven home afterwards..
@@BabyCharlotteschannel I have a 87 with a spring over axle, front and rear sparten lockers and 6.5 transfer case gears & a Toyota carb. 17 in rims 32 in tires k2 . Nissan versa electric steering.
Climbs the rocks that jeep Rubicon can't do.
Look up Zuks of AZ
Suzuki with highway tyres, stock standard. No Mods. Best mini truck Ever !
Mad respect to Nathan and the Suzuki...going down some of those hills looked real sketchy!
He was the only one laughing like a madman when going over the obstacle. Joy of driving a Zook!
lmao! I love how the Samurai is just the little engine that could just power through everything with its 60hp engine
lol WTF I am impressed
Gear reduction is more important than power, the most desirable part on a rubicon is the transfer case.
I must say I kept being surprised how well that tiny Samurai with street tires and little clearance went over those obstacles. Nathan sure knows how to handle this car. And very enjoyable video guys! Good fun.
I had a Samurai back in high school. Had a hockey puck lift and 31s. Thing could go anywhere. Glad to see these vehicles still going strong in 2019. Great video!!
S Walters anybody who never drove one off road made fun of them. But they are awesome
How could you lift a samurai with a hockey puck its spring under that would just lower it
If I recall correctly, they were wedged between the springs, not the spring and axle. Had a backyard mechanic do it for $50. Held up well. Only problem was a slight shimmy in the steering at highway speed. Probably not the safest thing, but I was too young, dumb and cool at that time to care.
puck lift is a body lift. just thicker than stock bushing between body and frame. suspentions stayed the same just more room for tires
"I think my kidney just shot out my armpit" - Nathan. I would say that the Suzuki is a good vehicle for Nathan since it pretty much needs to be driven at 11 off-road. I loved the show this morning. Thanks for all you guys do.
"I'm really glad these brakes are working. Front discs and rear drums; old school." NOW FEATURED ON THE BRAND NEW TOYOTA TACOMA!!!
AirborneVet our 1990 pickup has the same setup lol. Some things never change
Crazy that they haven't upgraded to 4 wheel disk brakes in every single vehicle made nowadays!
I haven't laughed so much in a long time.. watching Nathan get thrown around the suzuki was hilarious
My thoughts exactly. His expression while wearing that cap & glasses when he realized he was losing hard in the Samurai 🤣
The Suzuki got stuck because the driver didn't watch where he was driving?
I think he did that on purpose
The driver is obviously an idiot with zero off-road experience, or even basic logic. My wife drives a civic and probably could negotiate that trail better than this loser. He didn’t even try cranking his wheels to get un-stuck. Samurai’s are WAY more capable than he makes them look. The driving skill is very important and he has ZERO skill.
@@Yankeeprepperasshat check out the zero dollar zook they really show what it can do
Imasurvivor It’s a television show for entertainment and some education. I’m pretty sure that they did that on purpose for the show
Andre needs a Lada Niva to challenge these trucks.
Justin Rother Good shout! Did the Niva ever get imported to US/Canada?
Nope
There are some in Canada and also in the US probably
They were imported to Canada, but not the US. When I was in driving school (years ago), the instructor told me that back in the 70's US military got introduced to the NIva during some kind of joint exercise with the Canadians and they were impressed how it kept up with the army Jeeps and on some sections it was even superior. So, they were interested in purchasing it and were working on the contract, but Soviet invasion of Afghanistan sort of put an end to it.
I wish we got the niva in the usa ... Would make a great ltv ( light tactical vehicle )
`I am impressed with the Samurai. It is no joke!
Bone stock no less, not even decent tires on the thing!
The Suzuki really impressed me! I am amazed at what she could do. Good job fellas, great video!
When a Land Rover the weighs 4500 + pounds with a V8 that makes as much horsepower as a Jeep Liberty is the fastest car in a drag race, you know it's a rough drag race.
My suzuki vitara had a 2.0L I4 with 90HP. Worked great. My Suzuki XL-7 2.8L V6 Had 180 hp. Loved that thing and you could even get a version with 3rd row seating 7 passenger
I mean the Jeep woulda pretty much destroyed everything if it had the 4.0 i6
This channel has become television production level.
Indeed, better than The Grand Tour!
Complete with ads!
I wouldnt go as far to say that
It hurts to watch with how contrived it all is, but the content can be pretty great sometimes. I just hope that they make it seem a little less... forced.
Naa, top gear rip off.
I think Nathan was having the most fun in the Samuari. Literally just floor it and hang on haha.
Can't say the same for his kidney, though. LOL!
" Other little British tech, is that slight rod knock you hear " LMAO!! tommy... 42:38
The winner should be the Samurai. It's the least modified of all three, sorry Nathan
Plus the only reason he got stuck was because nathan made a mistake. He took a bad line.
Suzuki Samurai are truly underrated. Big fan, and that's coming from a 3x Land Rover owner.
@@johnisnor8567 exactly. The samurai is very capable, especially if one knows how to off road.
It was already trailered back to Colorado because it was so slow on the highway in mountains. lifting it and bigger tires is just going to make it trailer queen

I love how a lot of people say modify the Suzuki, but the point is to show just how capable it is in stock form. I've a 88 1/2 and besides 225 tires its stock and will Stay that way. It is and proved to be just as capable! Go Samurai!
Suzuki won. Best mpg, chapest, and pretty much made it through everything with no mods.
Only if it was cheaper where i live 😔
@@ahmedalabry5970 yeah it's crazy how much they have gone up in price. I'd love to have one, if it was a 2nd vehicle or if I didn't have to commute 45 minutes to and from work every day.
I love Love my ZJ Grand Cherokee's, and I've had every motor they came with, 4.0, 5.2 and the 5.9 but I'll take a 4.0 straight 6 any day!
do you know how expensive back surgery is
@@chanceym6000 I have a broken back. yes i do.
I ended up with a daihatsu rocky when i looked for one
I want the samurai. Re-tire it. Give it a lift. Overhaul the engine. Go have fun.
Good job on this video guys. I loved it
Lunchbox locker in rear is a must!
Troy P too weak of an engine to do any serious mods
Troy P u would need to revamp the inside, they come so crappy
You get a 90BHP K12C(1.2L compared to the G13 1.3L) in newer Suzukis here in India and a better 5 Speed Manual, would be a straight fit into the vehicle. The Samurai(Called the Gypsy here) is an absolute Mountain Goat of the Auto World.Conquers the Himalayas, the Thar deserts, The Rann of Kutch, The Western Ghats and the Seven Sisters without a problem.Went out of production here this Year(2020!).
100th like!
The samurai was very awesome to watch being bone stock
This channel has come a long way in the last few years. Well done lads.
The 5 steps to the true Samurai offroad experience:
1) Redlining the engine constantly
2) Hopping and bouncing over everything
3) Never braking because momentum is all you've got
4) Being constantly surprised both you and the car survived
5) Regretting your choices on the drive home
Nah, you forgot the 4 best steps.
1)Be the first to climb that hill or go through the mud hole.
2)Wait half an hour because everyone is now scared that they will get stuck after the little suzuki got through.
3)Watch them get stuck.
4)Go again just to make them even more salty.
5)Profit?
Now, to debunk your steps:
1) Redline won't make that much difference in 1st low, the crawl ratio is soo good that the difference is almost none, just keep it in the power band.
2) Hopping and bouncing is what heavy vehicles do, the samurai has the ability of getting traction in every condition, use it and the super low range to maintain momentum.
3) Momentum is not all you've got. You've got great aproach, departure and break-over angles, low weight, amazing low range for a stock vehicle and a reliable vehicle that can be treated like shit and will still get you home in the end of the day.
4) Surprised about what? ladder frame with solid axles on leaf springs and an engine that will go on forever, there is nothing to be surprised about.
5) You won't regret your choices, because at the end of the day, you won't get that smile from any other vehicle. Even if you break something, parts are super cheap, and maintenace is easy to do.
Just keep in mind that a vehicle is only as good as it's driver. All the 3 are on newbie level when it comes to off-roading. The samurai only got stuck because of driver error.
The other 2 vehicles are modified, the samurai didn't even get to have a good set of all terrain tires on the stock tire size. Give me a stock samurai with 215s and no sway bar and I will go everywhere a stock JL rubicon can go, but the rubicon won't get to the places I can.
ive done some offroading in a daihatsu rocky, so very much alike the jimny (samurai) it was slightly modified and it was insane how capable it was. no lockers at all, just put it in 4L and it made it through anything we threw at it. a wrangler behind us got stuck in the mud behind us. Fairly sure that the jeep didn't have/use any lockers though.
I love you guys. Tommy, your Cheap Jeep Challenge inspired me to buy a TJ two weeks ago. Since my original purchase price of $2500, I've spent an additional $3500 making it an off-road machine. Didn't realize that JEEP stands for "Just Empty Every Pocket." That said, I'm having a blast! Can't wait for your next video.
@sebastian Sm : My '99 TJ has 154k miles on it. I'll add that mine has the 2.5L 4 cylinder motor and a 5-speed. No idea and don't care about MPG. I added a 4" Rough Country X-series suspension and 33" Duratracs last week, so that'll affect mpg.
@sebastian Sm I wanted the 4.0, but when I saw what came with this TJ (hard top, soft top, bikini) and realized how mushy the suspension was, I was able to make a sweet deal. Took it out yesterday and the 2.5L did great off-road.
Congratulations and welcome to the TJ Family.
John, did you get lockers installed and around how much did that run you (if you dont mind me asking).
I'm considering getting a tj as well.
A Land Rover Defender would be a fair competitor to Jeep and Suzuki.
Banzai Samurai!!! Please give the Samurai a small lift, better tires and cheap engine overhaul.
Jarrod King that samurai is probably working with about 50 hp by now. An engine overhaul would fix that right up.
@ben walker they only topple from poor driving. I bought my Sami with a 6 inch lift and it has never threatened to roll.
Toyota hilux axles, lower gear ratio, and the smallest lift that will fit 35's without major surgery.
and a snorkel, every off-roader is better with a snorkel.
You guys should get an old Montero (pre 94 I think).
they were rock solid and the 4wd was excellent.
center and rear lockers.
Awesome video, fun and entertaining to watch, with energetic and enthusiastic participants.
Your channel is a replacement for traditional TV shows for me.
the samurai is really cool car in my book
I am a old Jeep lover and owner but I agree, I wouldn't mind owning the Samurai or Land Rover too, they don't have to be superior to be perfectly cool vehicles.
It’s unfortunate we don’t get the new Jimny
It's good, but it has no towing capability and very little storage capacity inside - not really an expedition vehicle, more a recreational one
That's why I have owned a samurai for 20 years
if you have more than 2 people I would agree, but on my own, my Sami has been my overland vehicle for 6 years. best car and off-roader I've ever owned.@@GarySlegg
No one else on the highway knew you all were racing but you! 😂
😂😂😂
Nathan is bouncing around in that Samurai like the last tic-tac in the container.
The Suzuki and Nathan win. No lift kit. No grippy tires. Winner!
Does everyone else here HATE Consumer Reports for the false hit job they did on the Suzuki Samurai??
I know I do.
Pretty much.
Fake News !

@@daftnord4957 it's seriously easier for you to Google consumer reports Suzuki lawsuit. It's WAY too long of a story to type out here.

Suzuki Forever! We need the Jimny in North America!
Check the New Jimmy 2019, You will love it
I know, I already do! The problem is we don't get it in North America. If not by Suzuki, I surely hope that a rebadge version, can make that into North America, through Toyota or GM like the old Chevrolet Trackers did.

It would be perfect for Surf Fishing.
True 4WD and extremely light weight
Nathan screaming banzai definetly added traction to the samurai
Ok, after watching several episodes, you guys won me over. The real American TopGear lol
Suzuki Samurai
The samurai won in my book. That thing is awesome 😂
Amazing video guys! Had a lot of fun watching and re-watching it. A couple of things stood out..
1. Technique, like choosing the correct line or pace, really stood out. Just because you have a lift doest mean you can bomb through stuff
2. Romans driving, while aided by the electronics, embodies 'as slow as possible as fast as necessary'. A cardinal rule. Props to Nathan though for driving a bog standard Samurai with street tires and no air down
3. As a P38 Rover owner myself, I love the stately driving feel of the Rover V8 and the Landies. Some segements in this video really show case that
Keep up the good work!!
I love that you guys do offroading videos. Keep em coming.
Truely enjoy these lengthy videos, and Nathan's comic relief, dude is so light on his feet
I agree, these longer videos are great!
This is really close to being Old Top Gear quality content right here...
LOL now you mentioned it, it does
My buddy bought a Suzuki , early model before the Samurai and that little bugger impressed me no end at what it could do off roading , no gimmicks (they didn't exist yet) , manuel locking hubs and an engine that was smaller than my motorcycle and we had no problems on the trails keeping up with the bigger machines and the small size was actually a benefit in the bush and forest trails and a good addition was actual floor drain plugs if you screw up a river crossing and flood it !
Id like to see a TJ Rubicon, JK, Rubicon, and JL Rubicon test like this. Just to watch how much things have really changed.
Such an entertaining video. As a samurai owner, I was rooting for ya nathan! The best thing about the samurai is how cheap and easy they are to lift. With very little money, a samurai can out perform any jeep out there on the trails.
Any Jeep? Watch a few more Moab videos where they do the actual Jeep trails not the tourist trails.
@@charlescole7532 Capability is just a question of money. How much do you wanna spend? The Samurai and Jeep can be equally as capable. It's all down to your checkbook.
I have a Jeep. Is that a challenge?
When you wanna meet in Moab? How much do you wanna wager?
Samari's are cool, but physics. they have a very short wheelbase and many ledges and climbs at moab are just not doable by a samari, no matter how much lift. infact the lift hurts on the steep ledges.
@@slobert1970
One of my friends has a Sammi. I've worked on it myself and do like them.
But when someone writes that they can easily outperform any Jeep, that's not even close to a true statement. They were a good value, pretty tough and a lot of fun but they won't outperform any Jeep.
Nathan´s reactions are gold.
watching in 2020 while stuck inside such awesome mental distancing thank you
These boys seem like the ultimate dads
Nathan is so funny! You need him on everyone of your videos.
Funny I was thinking how extremely annoying Nathan is.
I was thinking more like southpark and who killed the Landy!
That little Suzuki! Nathan probably needed to see his chiropractor after that but he did it.
Carlo Santin he hit that spot all wrong and could have avoided high centering. The samurai could easily do anything with larger tires.
Well I own a few Land Rovers and years later owning the 2003 Discovery 2 with CDL lever selector and with a few bits/mods added and no issues whatsoever PERIOD ! We take it everywhere on and off road and its the best money spent. Nothing to modify on the powertrain just lift and change tires and go have fun. Got a discovery this week. Was broken down on the highway and the guy said if I can get it to run its mine... all I did was clean the battery terminals and buy a new battery and the thing started right up. It has a few minor issues, three amigos, saggy headliner and it is in need of a driveshaft, new cooling and xyz switch. That being said, it still runs no problem, I'm working on getting parts for it but everytime i get in that thing and drive it i can't help but smile. Best suv I've ever been in.

Hey guys, give the Samurai some tyres! I use the Trepadors in the same 205/70R15 size and loving it!
yeah, the samurai is such a slow car that you almost don't feel any difference when driving on the road, might as well put some good off-road tyres on there.
A sway bar delete is also very good, more flex for nothing.
Also a samurai owner, running 30x9.5r15 on mine.

This is why I subbed to this channel. Amazing stuff.
I subbed to all their channels
Always told people: Samurai's are quite capable. The Samurai did quite well for being stock with street tires. Not surprisingly, the power to weight ratio of a Samurai vs. a 2.4l TJ is not that much off - if I get that about right the Samurai is around 75hp/ton and the TJ about 100hp/ton and that's not counting the modifications which will put the TJ lower than 100hp/ton. I'm pretty certain that if you give the Samurai a lift and narrow KO2's that are not too big, it would give both the jeep and the land rover a run for it's money. Plus the Samurai has the manual lockers which the TJ lacks.
You did prove the point though: you don't need all that much tech to get out and have fun.
I don't think the Samurai has manual lockers, it just has manual locking front hubs. These don't give any advantage except maybe improved fuel economy due to lower rotating mass when in 2wd - the Jeep just disengages the front driveshaft when in 2wd but it's still rotated by the wheels.
This is the heart of what is great about your channel. Keep it up!
If tommy had the 4.0 in it he would’ve smoked the rover. You guys should’ve modified the Sammy.
Well like they said, the rover in general just has more equipment so it is undoubtedly going to be better off. The jeep backing up and losing 5pts was not necessary either as tommy was not only leading the trail and was attempting to crawl over things as opposed to hit it fast, but like they said, the rover is best equipped and the samurai is very under equipped so the competition is sorta pointless to begin with. Jeep has proven itself as a very very likely candidate as the best offroad vehicle without the need of competitions even ever since it was conceived for ww2 and it bought around the world for the hardcore offroad stuff.
Tommy choose the line and the speed, got stuck, -5 points, those are the rules.@@BenJaminLongTime
If Tommy had the 4.0 he would have lost to Roman on the fuel economy test....
@@GarySlegg The 4.0 and the 2.5 are actually basically the same on fuel economy. If he had the 4.0 manual he would've gotten a lot better mpg actually.
@@hunterc1055 the difference in fuel economy between the 2.5 Jeep and the Disco was 0.1mpg if I recall correctly. The difference between the 2.5 and 4.0 jeep is more than 0.1mpg, so the a 4.0 jeep would have lost to the Disco on that test :)
Friendly advice, DO NOT USE HITCH BALL has a recovery point. It's not as bad winching, but never a tow strap. Just use the safety hooks beside the ball, they are designed to withstand a trailer coming disconnected at high speed and therefore are safe for recovery because they can withstand big sudden loads. You can see many videos of hitch balls becoming cannon balls through windshields in recovery situations. Of course use it in a dire situation and for light recovery situations. The pin used to attach the hitch to the hitch reciever is also a good bet.
Stay safe and happy wheeling!
They didn't use much force to pull it free. Chill out
@Tom G posers? Nobody said they do alot of offroad. Let me guess you offroad 365 24/7 and that makes you a pro. Pfft. If they needed to really pull on it they wouldn't have pulled on the tow ball. Get over yourself
@@speterbilt but it's still importabt to point out for those that don't know. Putting it on the ball is common sense so it should be drilled into people so that we work out that dangerous potential. Its not about the TFL guys, its about the nooby offroaders. They deserve to be warned. Whats wrong with that? Know the danger and then do whatever th hell you want with the information is ny view
Safety hooks can handle a disconnect but the ball handles the load constantly. Bang on braking, bang on start, up and down bounce, etc.
So yeah the ball is plenty strong as long you're not pulling/winching something heavier than the trailer rating stamped in the top of it.
Just don't snatch. The d ring will likely pop off. Steady tension will keep it in the groove.
@@dchawk81 sorry but you're wrong. Do your research. Weight if the vehicle has little to do with it. Forces are different and its not designed for those forces.
The hill race was amazing!! The look on Tommy's face when Roman blew past...#priceless
My first ever vehicle was a samurai...I wish I would have never sold it!
my first car was a sidekick
Why didn’t the samurai have the new all terrain tires?
According to the MPG test, there is absolutely no advantage to buying a 4-cylinder Wrangler! The 4.0 will easily do 15-16 mpg. And the Samurai deserves the same love the Wrangler got, a lift and decent, bigger tires!
I think the stock Sami completely outshined the Jeep and with less drama. If it had the spring over kit with new leafs/shocks, and better tires there would be no need to even mention the Jeep. Lunchbox lockers on that it would be unstoppable.I think it was obvious by the video it was a lil beast
So, it's ungodly slow as it is. Now you want to make it even slower???
Only advantage of the 4cyl is that it’s cheaper
You want to reduce the Suzuki's hp even more with bigger tires?
fredbrackely HP doesn’t change, you lose mechanical advantage with bigger tires, which you fix by re-gearing.
Great job guys !!! Thank you.
Tommy - I think the gas mileage run will be a little more in our favor
Nathan - HELL YEAH!!
🤣🤣
Well, I expected the little 1 to use less gas, but 10 mpg difference is crazy. Forget the other 2, they might be cheap to buy, but will NOT be cheap in the long run. I'm taking the Samurai. If I can fit in it lol
I hope you don't do a lot of highway miles, and god forbid you have an accident - your knees and elbows are the crumple zones.
@@fredbrackely Come on, it's not exactly a high mileage commuter car machine. Nobody will daily this on the highway.
@@weedmastersr I used to back when these were still new and common. They did fine so long as you bought a kidney belt to deal with the rough ride. People get too bent on "safety" as if it's going to replace the bag of meat between the seat and steering wheel. Put down the phone and pay attention to the road. THAT is the single best safety device out there.
@@wolfman9999999 I agree with your sentiment. I have been daily driving a car with no airbags, ABS or traction control for many winters. If I had a family and kids, I'd put them in a newer Volvo, but for me personally, not every car needs to be a safety tank to enjoy. I love older cars a lot more as they're not so muted and isolated. You can still feel you're driving them.
@@weedmastersr I daily drove one 100+ miles in Los Angeles traffic everyday for three years. Only a canvas bikini top rain or shine.
I’ve been waiting so long for this one ☝️! Thanks guys, this is awesome work!
Loved the editing in this! So much fun to watch.
Great message at the end. Love your guys’ videos!
Awesome vid! You guys just get better and better.
Excellent adventure guys!
Just bought my own cheap Jeep, a 97 TJ. This channel has really pumped me up!
This was hilarious and fun to watch, mainly because I have a white 2 door JK sitting on a 4” lift w/ 35’s, very similar to Tommy’s lifted JK, and I absolutely love it. Especially enjoyed Nathan’s expressions during the drag race in the Samurai when he realized he was losing hard 😂
Guys, this is one of my favorite episodes. Next time you go out wheeling I'd love to tag along. I live in Northglenn and just picked up an explorer for this purpose. You all seem like the kind of dudes I can relate with. Thanks for sharing. And seriously let me know if you guys wouldn't mind the company I'll buy lunch.
awesome video......Nathans a hell of a driver keeping that samurai going with the other 2 rigs.
Ugh, don't use tow balls to recover vehicles. You're showing people incorrect methods here guys.
If a tow ball can pull a 15k trailer, it'll work just fine. Stop being a stiff.
@@rhull3939 Go watch Ronny Dahl's towball recovery video. Even though it's not likely, if it did snap it could kill you.
Did you watch the video? It took maybe 50 lbs of force to get it off high center. Tow ball was perfectly fine in this situation. Don't use a sledgehammer when a knuckle tap will work.
@@rhull3939 a trailer has weight that pushes down where as when recovering the force is all backwards it is very possible for a D ring or strap to slip off. Very dangerous.
He barely even pulled it off the high center
I would be interested in seeing you mod out that Samurai and do the trail again :-)
I think they used to make a kit to put a Buick V-6 in those things!
BANZI 😂 that little samurai kicked ass. I was impressed with that stock rig. Sometimes ya just gotta send it.
Those little Suzis were TOUGH ...
Best video yet. Suzuki is the winner. Suzuki should come back to the USA & bring the new Jimmy!
Great video. Really enjoyed it. Two thumbs up!
Awesome video. MORE, MORE 👏👏👏👏
Thoroughly enjoyed that, had been waiting for y’all to post this video for forever!
“Bonsai” that was classic! Great Video guys. The spot you turned around was what I remember as a kid snow wheeling with my dad on Hells Revenge as the most sketchy spot, lol. We didn’t call it snow wheeling back then it was just wheeling with bonus challenges!
That first recovery with the D-link over the tow hook 😱🫣
A lot of entertainment and value in one video. Good job.
