  • Alright everyone, bring it in! The FLHP 2019 Camaro ZL1 is taking things to the next level with a ported supercharger in Episode 2 of the Bad Punk'n series. That means upgrading our pulleys and testing the capabilities of the full-tilt LT4 ported blower from our friends at Jokerz Performance. That is combined with the tried and true 103mm throttle body from our people at Katech Performance to max out this Camaro on 93 octane... BUT, we didn't stop there. So check out the video for an MS109 bonus (WITH D*NO SHEET)! She's come a long way from the stock pulley, stock supercharger.
    Throughout these tests, the blowers were fed by nothing less than the awesome cold air intake supplied by the team at Roto-Fab.
    There's no shortage of information, d*no pulls, graphs, specs, wrenching, time lapses, side-by-side comparisons, and all the details you all appreciated in Episode 1, which if you haven't seen yet, you can check out right here👇

    Really enjoyed the video - very cool. This summer I picked up a slightly used blue 2019 ZL1 convertible, with only 1333 miles on it, that I nicknamed Stitch (the little blue monster). After watching your videos I'm thinking about doing some of these mods. I'd like to hear the supercharger more so definitely going to do the rotofab CAI and now I'm going to look at the supercharger cover. (Yes, even on the convertible with the top down you can hardly hear the blower.) I might do the headers and exhaust, but I'd probably have to leave one set of cats in to pass emissions testing in Missouri. I know all the exhaust manufacturers say you can't use their stuff on a convertible, but I was chatting with a support tech at Borla about it after your first video and he said it can be done, you just have to make a small custom section of pipe to clear the x-brace on the convertible. I don't want to add too much more power as I don't want to twist the car, but a little more whine, a little more growl, and maybe a little more efficiency would be cool. I'm also working on some custom aero touches to set my car apart. Don't want to just add the little canards like everyone else seems to be doing.

    I can't wait to see what a big gulp intake will do for you. I have a Maggie 2650, cam, headers, f.b.o and only went from the roto to the roto big gulp and made almost no gain. 2hp is all. The R.P.M 's went from 6,400 to 6,600 on peak hp# but I was seriously disappointed for what I spent. And as people know they don't want you to return a used part.

    • @floridahighperformance
      @floridahighperformance  Год назад +3

      While I fully back Roto and their full line of intakes, I will say that bigger isn’t always better. This goes not only for intakes, but throttle bodies, camshafts, injectors and other parts. It’s all about BALANCE. No one component will prove to be the silver bullet. Performance is all
      About many parts working together in perfect harmony. That’s what I did in this episode. I didn’t go with the most boost- I didn’t go with the biggest TB- or the highest octane fuel. I carefully selected parts that compliment one another- and the results speak for themselves. Im making power with bolt ons that others are making with head and camshaft work. I am going to switch to a big gulp when we install the new engine coming from LME. It will be required to move the air the larger displacement will require to do what it does. Thanks for checking out the video!

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Год назад +1

      I mean carrying the power out further up top is as good as gaining peak power so not too bad for just an intake change when you already had a good one before. The higher boost level you have more it will help. Throttle body also needs to flow well or the intake won't do much. These blowers hate inlet restrictions. I mean positive displacement ones.

    • @floridahighperformance
      @floridahighperformance  Год назад +1

      Thanks a lot. No heat soak at all on this set up- but then again I don’t track this car like so many do. Few answers to your question: one, 16.5 PSI on this ported supercharger is the sweet spot. Anymore and you’re past the critical speed of the unit- just killing it slowly. Two, a top mounted supercharger has to be the absolute worst option for a true “track car”. They all get hot- no matter the size or speed they turn. Show me one true road race car that excels in all aspects with a positive displacement blower on it. You won’t- it doesn’t exist. SO- with that being said- this is a wicked combo and is kicking ass considering what it’s being asked to do. Street and dyno it does just fine!

    • @floridahighperformance
      @floridahighperformance  Год назад

      We don’t recommend a 2650 until you increase cubic inches…like a 416 or 427. That’s not to say you can’t benefit from a 2650 on SBE, but that’s just how we do things. We look out for our clients and their hard earned money and look for ways to stretch their dollars. Porting the stock blower is proven to make power without breaking the bank. Yes, 2650 has far superior efficiency over the 1.7…but for most folks on the street, that efficiency is never really taken advantage of. Heads and cam have little to do with IATs- rather they increase airflow through the engine…blower temps will still rise regardless…

      Technically speaking, you can use the sensor to measure 0% content (which is what C16 will be). When the ECU sees 0% eth coming through, you can set your timing for C16. When it sees 9% Eth content (like pump 93, or any E85 based fuel), you can set timing for that as well. That is how we use flex sensors with C16....

    Awesome info on your work on the pumpkin 🎃, We've communicated I think 7 months or so ago via e-mail when I asked if you could change the oil in my 2.9 whipple on my '17 ZL1!! You said not yet but eventually, I know where you are and I'd love to drop by and meet you and check out your operation. I'm Dominick so you'll know who I am. Keep up the great vids and im a new subscriber.

      This episode is a follow up to Episode 1 where I installed ARH headers. Yes the vehicle has headers in this video and will so on all remaining episodes.

    Do you recommend meth injection for more power and cooler iat

    • @floridahighperformance
      @floridahighperformance  Год назад

      Yes meth has several advantages on any forced induction engine.
      I could have added it at any point on this vehicle and reaped the benefits- I just haven’t….no particular reason…just haven’t. Wanted to show folks that it can be done without meth. A lot of clients are weary of adding meth- so I didn’t add it into this build. I may at some point….
