I really enjoyed your video.. When I went to visit my brother and his family from the Dateland area, we drove down to Algodones for the day. I enjoyed it a great deal... they had Dentist appointments, and I also purchased the amazing Vanilla and some RX meds that are difficult and expensive to find in the USA... So Yes I really enjoyed watching this, it was also like a trip down memory lane for me. My husband still wears the Bright Blue T-shirt with the 3 Iguanas on the back and the words, "No bad days in Algodones" Please be aware the Dental appointments were VERY successful, and the staff all spoke English.
My parents used to go down there for their scripts. Now I'm an RV er, and thanks to your video, I'm considering checking them out for dental work. Thanks
My Wife and I really enjoy your videos. You show how you can enjoy senior adventure travel without knocking your wallet off. You are very clever with your innovative cargo trailer camper. Though we camp in a Class B, motorhome, I sometime miss the ability to leave a camper at the campsite, to explore the surrounding area. Keep up the good work!
@gonagain You and your Wife are the epitome of cool! You live life large, without spending fortune. In recent years, I have be reluctant to venture across the border to Tijuana. Your video makes me realize that Algodones is much safer. Most of the Mexican people are friendly and gracious. Given the stories we hear in the media, it is too easy to lose sight of that. This video goes a long way toward bridging the divide. Thanks from a 73 year-young Californian, who is thinking of selling his Electraglide and putting his 1971 Honda CB350 back in service. For me, the 350 is more age-appropriate. I love your Yamaha 200 single. A great bike for two up fireroad riding!
Oh My Gosh you crack me up...."no there's lots of ways into prison" Hahahahaha.....Linda, you look like you walk with such confidence! You go girl!!!!! Love you guys!!!!
This is another awesome episode with your trip to Algodones Mexico exploring the local shops and stores there take care and thank you Rick and Linda.☕🚌🚌🇺🇲
@@nancyst.john-smith3891 my 90 year old neighbor lives in Yuma and drives to Algodones about once a month to get dental work, eyeglasses and prescriptions there. She can't say enough good things about the hospitality and the food. when she goes down there she calls one of her shopkeeper friends and they give her a private parking spot if she can't find space on the street. She spends a few hours down there and drives back home ❤️
We were glad we went with a friend to show us round. The one tip which we didn't mention was to go early and leave before noon or you could be in a long line to return to the US.
Great video. Glad to see you posted it. I LOVE Mexico and its people and culture (and especially the FOOD!). My wife and I ate at that exact same In-n-Out coming back from Tucson over Christmas. It was just as busy and just as fast then as well. Thanks for posting!
Reminds me of my early days raised in El Paso, would go to Mexico once a week. This is a different town with the same sales pitches. I always felt safe, back before the Cartel took over.
Hey Rick and Linda, you forgot to take me with. I absolutely love in-n-out burger as well as Mexican food. I am incredibly thankful that I have been so blessed to have met the 2 of you in Quartzite, pleasure was all on my end,Jerry says 👋
Great tour of the town..I've been wanting to get there. I love that crumbled bacon from Sams. Beats the heck out of frying it and dealing with the grease.
I have been within a couple of miles of that boarder crossing several times inspecting the bridge over the canal, but never went over the boarder. I guess it is all work and no play.
Excellent video. I went to Algodones twice last April. First, with Box Van Dee as my guide, then the next day by myself to finish up some serious dental work. On the Friday, it took us 4 minutes to get back into the US. On the Saturday, it took me 90 minutes in a long line in very hot weather. Glad I brought a PowerAde with me, though of course locals were there to hawk water bottles, gifts, and many other things to people waiting in line. On the road to the parking lot, if you get stuck in a terrible traffic jam, that is the line for cars actually crossing the border. Don't get angry at people driving on a sort of dirt shoulder to get around you, to get to the parking lot. Join them. Just put on your right blinker, and go offroad to save yourself a couple of hours.
Finally got around to watching this video. Been so busy getting my poor truck ready to tow home. I'd like to go through that town sometime. Wishing you guys continued fun and excitement on your southern sojurn this winter while we head back to the snow and ice. 😅 Take care...
We visited my then girlfriend's family in Yuma about 25, 26 years ago... spent a morning like you did in Algodones. I think I bought a blanket. We had some good grub as you did, and the area immediately adjacent to the crossing was clean, but it certainly has been modernized in the interim to today! We would have loved a peek into Jeff's cargo camper corn-version but I guess he was kinda shy about that. Dinner sure looked good! that's for sure. Here's to your continued good health! and safe travels! Cheers.
I was just there this morning. I haven’t been there for years and I couldn’t believe the changes in the way in. They rearranged the entrance. I just went on Medicare and found out how bad my script coverage is. Same meds in Los Algodones is crazy less than Medicare and the extra coverage purchased. I will be going back every 2 -3 months. Thanks.
When I was 16, my friends and I crushed the In and Out, in Tujunga, California, the year after it opens in '75. I prefer What A Burger these days, but rarely come across either.
If you guys decide to have optical or dental work next time you're in Algadones, I have a couple of recommendations I'll pass on to you if needed. The dentist I use there (for anything from cleanings to major dental work) is every bit as professional and qualified as any US dentist I've been to.......at a fraction of the price. Also, the Mexican vanilla you bought is fantastic. I always stock up when I'm down there. Oh, and thanks for the recommending Molcas. That is one place I have not eaten at.....yet :)
That's good to hear about the dental and also about the vanilla, because I was afraid it might be watered down or something. Also, the honey turned out to be fantastic.
Why won't anyone say California? Did I miss something? I live here and love it. NO I didn't "vote for this" and I think everyone should see our beauty and ignore the human blabber that seems so much louder than our views here.... I almost made it to RTR and would have love to do some "gonagain spotting" but I never made it past Blythe.... just like last year. But maybe next year, if we don't burn up over here. It's always during our fireseason so maybe, maybe not in my particular future.... we shall see. Thanks for taking up along, as always 🤩
Could not agree more! If I can say "Montana" without issue I'm frankly insulted that the word "Califonia" cannot be said especially after promoting In-N-Out on RUclips, both from California, the worlds 4th largest economy.
It is all about the Political stuff.. I spent the past few years not being proud of where I was born, because of the same stuff... "weird PDX" I love being here in Mexico for the Winter and wish I could make it to RTR sometime to see all of the terrific RUclipsrs that attend. Many Beautiful places in California.. My opinion many Up North like the giant Redwoods. I will admit my last trip to San Franciso was also nice because they apparently had "cleaned it up" Crazy life we have. right now, I am grateful my family survived the Fires!
Good to see that Jeff ditched that Jeep he had. I remember all the videos of David (Campulance Man) traveling in convoy with him, and getting stuck helping him to fix the Jeep.
I went to the in and out burger in Phoenix end of November. Yes excellent. Me too happy to be here south since Montreal is minus 20 Celsius and tons of snow and ice. I’ll be back in Montreal Quebec around mid April with the temps warming up and follow the nice weather going back.
I had a tooth extracted down there pretty cheap. Filled all my prescriptions before I came across the border. The place I went. I was a little worried if they filtered the water before they rinse my mouth out. Every time they took the x-ray the lights dimmed. No problems afterwards healed up just fine.
Y'all are dressed like it's cold😂 We were going to head that way, but I think we are just going down to the Gulf to warm a bit....we are in the start of 3 days sub 20's
Like# 1 - when I could eat fries… they don’t fry them nearly enough even if I ask for well done. They also don’t have mayonnaise, so I have to bring my own…
My luck in Mexico has not been good so I don't plan on going back. My Mexican friend used to tell me it was because I looked like a police officer 😂 Thanks for the tour and take care. 😊
I know people who have had dental work there for years and never had a problem. But I also know a couple that drove their truck in and were arrested for having some ammo in the truck, no guns .long story short it took awhile to get them out of jail, like weeks and it took outside help. Plus it was expensive. They said the jail was really nasty
So that's how you do it. I don't have anybody that knows the ropes. I would like to see you do Big Bend NP crossing and see what you think. This Algodones is tourist trap for someone like me. I watch peoples video and see what not to see as much as what to see. Quartzside what a mess. Maybe in February when it's back to town.
Wow , I just noticed their cooking chicken and steak on the grill using # 3 rebar . That's NOT the worst way I've ever seen . Very innovative. The one significant thing about the border towns is their incredibly safe ( in the daylight hours ) . Gringos getting robbed is bad for business. Although I don't recommend walking around at night without a guide . Great place to visit though .
I don’t want to be a party pooper, but I hope someone isn’t stocking antibiotics for a future sickness… it seems a easy fix, but we should exercise our immune system by just suffering thru the sickness… Good video!
Fries at in/out are fresh cut potatoes, so they go soggy fast. Eat the fries first or order them well done. Then again, some people like soggy fries. Buy one bottle of vanilla and split it up for family. I have a bottle that's 5 years old and less than 20% used. For me, my bottle is a 20-year supply!😂 Rick has a new bargaining tactic, "fill it full of money and I'll buy it." Gotta give that one a try! It's funny how our borders are wide open at the wall, but at immigration points they check ID. I waited in a 2hr hour line to get back home!😡
Hey kids , ❤ the t-shirt " keep calm you're on the fun side of Trump's wall" that theoretically could be worn on either side of the border eh ? Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 Fun fact . Did you know you can buy a bus ticket from Yuma to Algodones for under $ 20.00 ? . Then a trip back , I'd recommend the 3:10 To Yuma 👍
in and out great place looking at the menu 5.60 compared to here in san pedro,ca our double double is 9.80 its fuuny to see you and linda walking thru the food cookers and then there in front of you is a dentist office in case you broke a tooth? haha should got saddle bags for the bike? the both of you look good take care
Sounds like a great place to get some ivermectin for the next plandemic! My bother does all his dental work in Nogales even though he has great insurance because he prefers the service and they take care of everything the same visit!
There was a woman who sang karaoke at the bar. She had a great voice (not common at a dive bar), but she had awful teeth. She went south of Yuma and got her teeth fixed. An incredible change. She still tends bar and has a great voice and nice teeth. What do people do with vanilla anyway?
Did you find the Expresso Stand?? Darn the parking has gone up from $7, I heard the whole entry has been changed and your video has confirmed that, they never ask for ID going in just coming back, best time to go is early morning, if not the lines get out can be hours long. Btw, never pay what they ask for on price, they actually respect you more for hagiling, just don't get to aggressive on your offers. You will find out that alot of the stands are owned by the same people group, there's always changes new construction every year, that's how they get out of paying taxes, never finish the project.
They are perfectly set up to serve Americans who don't speak Spanish. Medical tourism is the lifeblood of the Los Algodones economy. Not every dentist is fluent in English, but the ones who aren't, speak enough English, and make sure to hire assistants and receptionists who are closer to being fluent. Likewise, the sales people in stores, have to speak enough English to sell well, when most customers are tourists rather than locals. At restaurants, the wait staff is more likely to speak English, than the cooks. Never a problem, if you figure out how much English each person understands, before asking an essay question they might not handle.
There are 2 types of passports, passport book and a passport card. Basically, you need a passport book to fly to a foreign country. The card is good for travel to Mexico and Canada. Check out the USGov site for more specific info.
Most everyone says you have to have a passport to come back in to your home country???? I googled it and there is stated that i can get back home with just my birth certificate and driver's license I am wondering what the worst that could happen to me if I came in without a passport Have you ever heard of anyone doing that
I think the newer driver’s licenses that are “Real ID” are pretty handy. Getting a passport is pretty simple and opens up the world of travel. It’s better to have one and not need it than to miss out on a travel opportunity. Maybe a relative gifts you a trip to Scotland and you can’t Go because you don’t have a passport… luckily we were able to get ours before the gifted trip to London!
I think dental can be a money maker. Another RUclipsr goes there for haircuts, vision appt, new glasses and an occasional dental cleaning. He said they have told him before that he had 13 cavities but after returning to the states and going to another dentist he had NO cavities
Your video is making you look concave or convex? Did you change your camera or was it a communication glitch? Glad your trip was w/o incident. Did you really save money with Customs and all? Wonder if the Canadian border is as open as the southern one is? I live about 200 miles south of there. Algadones sort of resembles Lake George village in New York state, minus the lake of course. Like Algadones right now is the best time to visit. In Summer when we went the place was crawling with people and there were endless lines. Never again. Glad to see your visit was much easier in Mexico. See you next video. Love from CT
There was no hate in my comment. I love California, but I don't care for the socialist government there. I like to carry concealed at all times, something that California won't allow me to do.
I got my teeth fixed very reasonably a few years ago. On my way out a guy approached me, asked if I needed any assistance. I said I was hungry. He took me to the exact same restaurant entering the exact same way...he seemed to linger for a tip...I was ignorant till after he left...good food...but NOT worth the sketch...I wished I'd just got out of Mexico ASAP...Mexico is crazy.
I really enjoyed your video.. When I went to visit my brother and his family from the Dateland area, we drove down to Algodones for the day. Gosh, when my folks lived in Yuma, we went to Algodones several times. Miss Yuma in winter! Thank you!!
That vanilla makes all the difference in the taste of sweets. It is fantastic
Looks like the Mexico I remember.
Fun. But always with your head on a swivel.
Good time was had by all😂
Glad you did the video! The leather goods are excellent and inexpensive. My wife bought a purse down there and it lasted years and years.
Very interesting, Thanks for describing the entrance and exit, I've never seen that much detail. Glad you had an enjoyable time and made a video.
This is another awesome episode with your trip to Algodones Mexico
exploring the local shops and stores there take care and thank you
Rick and Linda.☕🚌🚌🇺🇲
we have made about ten vision missionary trips to Mexico... It's a magical place! The further south, the better!!
Yes! And the more remote villages are the most interesting. To us anyway.
Your experience mirrored mine 3 years ago. I traveled alone and am a senior woman. I had a very positive experience as well and absolutely no fear.

Yes, it's different now with different bad guys. Algodones is safe because their economy is based on Americans spending money there.
I've been curious about Algodones ... so your video came at a good time. Interesting visit you've shown us. Hope I get to visit at some point. :)
Interesting! Now I think I should have taken a day and visited our southern neighbor.
Nice to see you in a warm place! I'm in Michigan, and the next few days are going to be brutal. Safe travels!!
Yes, I'm in Michigan too. Not looking forward to zero weather.
It's very cold and snowy back home so we're trying to avoid heading back anytime soon.

We didn't pay any entry fee. We did use a passport to return to the US side.

Wonderful trip! I wish when we went it wasn't so crowded at the border. 3 block wait!
You have to go in the morning and return mid afternoon.
I was at that In-nOut just last week. My goal is to buy you guys a pie this year. Great video!
My goal is to enjoy that pie!

The fries are done in a big kettle, they aren't done ten at a time in a pan. You bring your own mayonnaise (you can spell it, and I can't)?
My luck in Mexico has not been good so I don't plan on going back. My Mexican friend used to tell me it was because I looked like a police officer 😂
Thanks for the tour and take care. 😊
You know, that could just be it. I went in to a tire shop on this side of the border years ago and the workers all looked at me with evident concern.
What did you to help that poor man who lost his home? Besides that wonderful prayer, of course.
I know people who have had dental work there for years and never had a problem. But I also know a couple that drove their truck in and were arrested for having some ammo in the truck, no guns .long story short it took awhile to get them out of jail, like weeks and it took outside help. I wouldn't want to see the inside of a Mexican jail! Thanks for sharing, this might save someone from the same experience.
Do they take the American dollar or do you need pesos?
They take the dollar.
Where did you leave your trailers while in Mexico ? Didnt see that it came with you to the parking lot.
We were camped on BLM land just west of Yuma.

There was a woman who sang karaoke at the bar. She had a great voice (not common at a dive bar), but she had awful teeth. She went south of Yuma and got her teeth fixed. An incredible change. She still tends bar and has a great voice and nice teeth. What do people do with vanilla anyway?
Vanilla is for baking and is perfect in chocolate chip cookies!
Don’t think I will going to Mexico - no pie there, lol.
Wish i had known u were going to yuma, i would have let you stay at my place for free...lots of room for your trailer and seperate bath shower house
Good video, and border security are very astute in judging people. Medication in the US., must be expensive hence all the pharmacies and dentists.
Way more expensive in the US.
Hows the communication in Mexico? Are there people there who speak and understand English? Like at the dentist and eye Dr’s?
They are perfectly set up to serve Americans who don't speak Spanish. Medical tourism is the lifeblood of the Los Algodones economy. Not every dentist is fluent in English, but the ones who aren't, speak enough English, and make sure to hire assistants and receptionists who are closer to being fluent. Likewise, the sales people in stores, have to speak enough English to sell well, when most customers are tourists rather than locals.
At restaurants, the wait staff is more likely to speak English, than the cooks. Never a problem, if you figure out how much English each person understands, before asking an essay question they might not handle.
Do you have to have a passport ?or will a driver license and a birth certificate work
I think you're ok with a drivers license and birth certificate, but please check further before heading down.
A passport or passport card? What is that?
There are 2 types of passports, passport book and a passport card. Basically, you need a passport book to fly to a foreign country. The card is good for travel to Mexico and Canada. Check out the USGov site for more specific info.
Most everyone says you have to have a passport to come back in to your home country????
I googled it and there is stated that i can get back home with just my birth certificate and driver's license
I am wondering what the worst that could happen to me if I came in without a passport
Have you ever heard of anyone doing that
You may need the passport to get into Mexico, but some are saying that a birth certificate is enough. I'm no expert so please check into it further.
@gonagain
Ok thanks for that LoL 😄
I have thrown that out in the comments of a few videos and no one would touch it
God bless in Jesus sweet name amen
I think the newer driver’s licenses that are “Real ID” are pretty handy. Getting a passport is pretty simple and opens up the world of travel. It’s better to have one and not need it than to miss out on a travel opportunity. Maybe a relative gifts you a trip to Scotland and you can’t
Go because you don’t have a passport… luckily we were able to get ours before the gifted trip to London!
I think dental can be a money maker. Another RUclipsr goes there for haircuts, vision appt, new glasses and an occasional dental cleaning. He said they have told him before that he had 13 cavities but after returning to the states and going to another dentist he had NO cavities
Been to mexico. Twice was enough for me. Never felt safe and realize that once you cross over you lose ll civil rights.
It's the same whenever you leave the US and wherever you go. We're fortunate to live here.
I had the camera set on wide angle. There were no fees at customs coming back in, but that depends on what or the quantity of it is, like alcohol.
So are the prescription drugs legitimate?
Absolutely. They are the exact same as you would get in the States, only at far less cost.
Are they ever?
Absolutely.
See any ivermecton down there ?
Oh yeah!
If you’re camping in that other state then why don’t you say it’s name?
Enjoy watching your vids . but your inference of California hate rubs me the wrong way .
That's Tony. He will lead you to the best places and makes a small income from the tips he receives.
