This was one of Bruce Dickinson's first songs he wrote and was credited to him for Iron Maiden after joining in 1982... It was on Maiden's 4th album 'Piece of mind'.

Those vocal waves are called vibrato and Bruce Dickinson is a master of it. Quite operatic. The best Heavy Metal vocalist in my opinion (only my opinion)

The “guitar segway” that you mentioned is called a guitar harmony:) When two guitarist play the same guitar lead but one plays either an octave lower or higher or in a different key but the same root note. Essentially playing most of the same notes together but with a few that aren’t, but in the same scale. Which when played together in sequence like that, it’s called harmonizing and makes is it sound magical. Iron Maiden is best known for Dave and Adrian’s beautiful twin leads!

Bruce is probably the most athletic vocalist of all time. In the 80s he was an Olympic calibre fencer.

This is my all time favorite song on my all time favorite album Peice of Mind. I was 14 in 1983 when I bought this album when it came out. This video is in the 2000's when they were in their 50's.

Vibrato is the term for the "wavy" vocals. Bruce is one of the best at it in the metal world. Iron Maiden are legions!! Great reaction. 👍

check him out on rock in rio 2001 the clansman flies through the air as does the guitarist and bruce and the drummer also dance. yes bruce can squat down and leap with both feet off the ground. we are lucky such a band comes along once in a lifetime.
*not once in a generation, as I don't think the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Queen, nor the mighty Iron Maiden,...ect will ever been seen again, no matter the lifetime😔

I think you should listen to more Iron Maiden. You will like a lot of their songs. My favourite albums are : Iron maiden (eponym); The number of the beast ; and fear of the dark; and also No prayer for the dying....
I find No prayer for the dying an under rated gem. The title song has a blusey, painfulness about it, especially with Bruces singing👏

you should listen the vocals too... they are very importent... a lot of heavey metal songs has good lyrics... by far more than by rap or main stream sh**it like from from swift, grande, gaga and co...!

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. I always advise new people listening to classics like Iron Maiden to hear the studio version first. Always have the lyrics available to read while listening. Then move onto the live versions of the songs. But some of Iron Maiden songs are just as good or even better live. 'Fear of the Dark' at Rock in Rio is better live than the studio. 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' live at Hammersmith is as good or better live than the studio. I have seen them in 5 of the last 6 decades and last summer they were just as good musically as you can imagine. Enjoy the deep dive that is Iron Maiden. Check out their latest single 'The Writing on the Wall' for what they are like now. :)

You need some power metal in your life. Clear singing of epic tales of fantasy accompanied by crazy guitar solos. What's not to love ?

If you enjoyed this, I highly recommend you check out their performance of "Fear of the Dark" at Rock in Rio (the crowd participation is perfection) and a personal favorite track of mine, "Infinite Dreams" (the lyrics are beautifully written). You will not be disappointed! \m/
Infinite Dreams to me is the goat of all Iron Maiden's work. The entire song is the most underrated masterpiece ever written.
