Around 13:00. Right on! Say "no" to social invitations that are not "best" for you (not best timing, not best size of crowd) and your need for energy reserves. On the other side of the coin, respect those who do say "no" and don't badger them with reasons to attend that fit your needs, not their needs. I like to reserve Sundays (no outside events) for self care and home care. I have to set really strong boundaries to say no to social invitations on Sundays because friends "need" to socialize. They will try to undermine my resolve with their agenda. I like to share my father's wise words..."Take care of yourself; do what's best for you; and don't jeopardize what you have built for yourself".
I really admire the youth that get it sooner than later. (minimalism is a source of strength) My late Grandmother never did anything with her hair and never wore a stitch of makeup. She was the most beautiful older woman I knew. You are also very beautiful and natural!
So right. I am older but have applied so much of my life being minimal without realising it. No following fashion fads or make up trends, no buying what I dint need. In fact I just fewer things all the time. Space and time count
I'm really glad and appreciate that you aren't one of the typical 'like and subscribe' RUclipsrs. Thank you for honoring our time and I hope posting one video a week has worked out for you.

That is exactly how I feel! About a year and a half ago I uploaded a "minimalist apartment tour", and while I thought it was minimalist at the time, we ended up getting rid of so much after it was uploaded that it felt very cluttered!
I just found your channel, I really appreciate your respect for the quality of my time as a viewer, I've never heard a youtuber be so respectful of that, so thank you:) you are top quality!
You're so right about of cleaning products: I started to use low poo shampoo and common soap only. My hair started to grow as I had it in kinder garden! No need for more products. I hydrate my skin just drinking more water. I encorage to you all to treat you body from inside. No more "beauty industry masks" Thanks for your video!

Yes! On the point of food....I wish fridges were smaller. The trend to larger appliances in the kitchen is not one I like. I used to have an "apartment" sized fridge in my home and it fit just the right amount of food. I had to buy a new fridge and it is so much larger than the old one....food gets lost in it! I was over buying at first to have it look "full" the way the old one did, but all that happened is that food went to waste. Now my fridge looks almost bare, but it is the right amount of food. Strange situation......
Great points! It is easy to store so much in the fridge, especially if there are not as many people in the household. I'm glad you have found a method that works for you.
Our fridges in Switzerland are small. The kitchen is already installed in all apartments. So we do not purchase them. Nor are we a deepfreezing nation. We have great quality food here and many open air markets. Nice organic food as well. But in USA I know everything is big but not the average bank account. Where do you live?
ritalyn b So agree. If we look at how Europeans and basically everyone else on the planet live the norm is small housing, small appliances. Smaller fridges can be found with some hunting and are worth it if you are customizing a smaller space. The big box stores all looked at me like I was a freak asking for slim fridge and micro washer I had seen on a boat. I found them after hunting. A small footprint.
Just before I started minimalising I brought some storage units for all my craft stuff that I might use or I might use for work. One, I've got rid of all of that stuff. I also recharge being alone or with my husband at home. I don't use many cosmetic products but I definitely cant comb my hair and go. You are lucky : ) Thank you for sharing - amen to it all!
Love this video!. Notifications are such a distraction. I recently avoided social media and turned off notifications for a month and it was the best. I got to do more things that I love and didn't have time for. Congrats on 10K btw!!
I am at the point where I feel so burnt out with social media. I only have instagram and youtube.as for instagram, I dont follow much people. But for youtube it's even worse when i'm no longer interested in videos because they all talk about pretty much the same thing. Maybe I need to spend time offline so when I'm back, I have different things to see.
I can completely relate to that. As a youtuber, there is an expectation that I am posting on social media, but I really don't like it that much and often don't feel like it is worth the time and mental energy! Definitely take the time for yourself if you need it!
You said it! was away from the internet for some 5 months this year and I definitely enjoy the content again. Being offline, felt good but a bit cut off from the world a bt.
Should we add Pinterest . Gawd, I love that time-sucking app, lol. However, what I used to view as virtual scrapbooking has turned into a dream list. Time to start deleting...because it has caused me to hunger for things I didn’t even know I wanted.
Number 12 hitted really hard. I do the same, it is so difficult to keep up with so many accounts especially on instagram! Now i only follow the ones that inspires me and that actually have relevant information.
Sarah your videos are both great and informative. I happily get a notification for your videos You are lovely and natural. So many utubers have a utube voice and always waving their hands around and always say "Without further ado". Drives me up the wall so I unsubscribe. But you are one of my favourites. Love Useless and Pick Up Limes.
I have a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and I no longer color my hair either. I have definitely downsized my personal care products to just the basics...which reminds me that I need to toss all of those extra hair products I kept buying that I felt I needed, or wanted to try.
I love your channel. Thank you. I am working on minimizing things in my life. At my age I acquired stuff from family, friends etc. I am making small but steady changes.
The social media tip is not bias at all:) I love social media and I also unfollowed and I friended a ton of people a while ago. It changed so many things for me
Oooooo. You got me with the notifications! I get so distracted from my family when I get random notifications. Thanks so much for your videos! (Now to go turn off a few notifications!)
Becoming a Heart Mom : Silence your Notifications in Settings, then the sound or volume. It should be there somewhere. *Alllll those silly continuous notifications are stealing your attention from life, distracting you and taking you "out of the moment". Your mind is instantly shifted away to your phone. Don't let it!! Having a designated time after supper and dishes in DW or washed, etc would be better for you And your family. It takes a decision. Kids grow up too fast anyway, if you have kids, or other family enjoying time w you or just having a Conversation(!). *It's NOT fair to them whatsoever* for your full attention getting broken up Often because of having the sound On for all those relentless notifications...❤
I look forward to your videos. I think they're good and I look forward to the coming changes. My husband and I do watch TV together. We don't have cable, but we do have a couple of subscriptions. We only watch while we're eating (we use tray tables in the living room). We also talk about the show while we're watching. We only watch about 30 minutes and don't mind stopping in the middle of an episode. Since we do it together as a hobby and it doesn't take up any time we normally wouldn't be taking for eating I see it as a good use of time. I go to bed earlier than my husband and so it's precious time for us to be together. It wasn't always the case and we used to watch a lot more, so we've definitely had to make it work for our lifestyle.
I’m so glad I came across your channel. I subscribed after you mentioned the notifications part. I have to agree with you on that I do that myself because at time we get distracted or side tracked due to notifications. Thank you for sharing!
Skincare is actually pretty simple: all you really need is a gentle cleanser, moisturizer (put on a damp face after cleansing), and sunscreen. Sunscreen is very important.
Great video. Appreciate how much you think about the content you provide. I understand wanting to make sure the quality of the video matches the content you provide. I look forward to continuing to watch your videos.
I’m amazed that you cut your clothing amount by half ! That’s huge ! Will start with my various garments today ! Good tips, also, on what foolishly distracts us.
Hi Sarah another great video thank you for the tips. I'm not much of a social media person myself I used to be on Facebook but I got off of that and I have decluttered some of the RUclips channels I was watching.
How much did I enjoy this video!? I will go ahead ahead and post this: 1 weekly Abundantly Minimal upload >>>>>>> 98% of regular cable TV! 1 weekly video is better than nothing Sarah, keep them coming! 😉👍
I am 12 and trying to become minimalist, and eventually zero waste and vegan. Also I am starting to buy only cruelty free products, but I am just using up the ones I have first. Again the zero waste and vegan are eventually. By that I mean at least a few year. Any other tips for becoming minimalist when you are younger? Also a big problem is my bed. It is a twin bed, but it has a giant headboard that I don’t need and takes up more space than it needs, I want a Japanese futon bed, but I don’t know if my parents will be s fan of it as they were the ones who payed for it. Any tips? Or other things I can do about the bed?
Thank you so much for your comment! It is very exciting to hear that you would like to become a minimalist, and later transition to being zero waste and vegan! I can imagine being a minimalist at a younger age is challenging because it is a balance between what the family thinks is the best as well as your personal goals. My best advice would be to focus on prevention of new items that you don't want from coming into your space, such as from gifts or if any of your friends like to go shopping and want you to come along. With the bed, I think the best approach there might be to keep using the bed you have, and then switch out the bed to a style that you like more, whenever the time comes to get a new or larger bed. I think it goes along with the principle of reducing waste, since if you bought a new bed before you "needed" one, that bed might not get a new owner. Just an opinion, let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Me being minimal on how I dress and my mom starts calling for being lazy not making myself look better. 😂😂😂 I only wear plain shirt and plain pants and same shoes everyday.
All the paper I have drives me crazy. I have all these things that I need to keep and would be hard to get again if I lost them. I try to go through bills and throw all that old stuff out but things like my son's iep and school records along with medical tests from specialists I have to keep and the folders for those are sooooo big. I got a file cabinet to keep it all together. I just hate looking at it.
Question? I am in the market for a full/ queen sized bed. It must must must be of recycled materials or at least capable of being recycled year's from now. Ideally I would lay it over a box spring. What companies have you all found- in the United States. Much thanks.
Great question! I know of two companies that offer more sustainable options...Avocado and Essentia, but I'm not sure of the recycle-ability of these beds. Best of luck with your search!
I think people binge-watch here in the states. There's a quiet war going on: the Minimalist Movement /Sustainable Simplicity (this is what I lean toward), and the Amazon Must-Have's/Hauls including beauty & so-called Lifestyle Guilt trips/(semi mindless consumerism) ... Also, I think the Millennial and Gen xxx can say No to other people a lot easier than the parents-generation. All the best to you as you concentrate on perfecting your videos. 100% support scaling down to improve your output.
Thanks a lot for all the wise tips! Minimalism is actually Islamic teaching. It's not only saving our money, but also time, concentration & life's target. By being minimal for ourselves, we maximize the extras for others. Means we care for other needs.
Hi Sarah, hope you and Jake are fine. I was moving out and with all the stress of moving 6 people and.....oh so many things, I was a little out of the channel. But thanks God I'm back and up to pick up with all your amazing content. Love from Puerto Rico.
Its your life possum. You do what is important to you. We ll either stick around or not. Dont allow your audience dictate what you are comfortable doing. I enjoy your talks. Probably because we think alike and even at my age I have learnt a few things from your topics.👍
Honestly I have my notification when my calls are on but I try to turn off all of them just so I can stay on top of my productivity game. Thanks for sharing. Also your channel name is so cute!
A language question: you said "more simple" a few times. When I learned English in school, I was told to use "simpler", is that changing in the spoken language?
Thanks Diana! It just sounded weird to me, but as I am not a native speaker and it's been a few decades since I was in school, it's always better to ask. Thanks for answering.
I used to teach English as a second language and I remember that the general rule is that shorter adjectives use the -er or -est endings, whereas longer adjectives use more/most.
"More simple" is actually correct in proper english. While "simpler" is not incorrect per se, it is considered common (i.e; lower class) in England and the Commonwealth and is seen as a sign of a poor education. No offence intended to anyone - just being internet honest so people can be aware of these social nuances.
Tv- there is that zoomtak device on amazon. I bought it and now I have channels from over the world. Lifestyle and travel shows from europe are much higher quality than american also european films are much better than american . Look to it.
Your video is very, very good. Tons of useful ideas that I will follow. Thank you so much. You're years apart from other "minimalist" guys that only copy-paste content.

Hi Sarah, great comment about the notification bell. I NEVER click it on any channels I'm subscribed to. If I want to see a video I'll look on my subscribed channels for the latest, I don't need to be told the second they come in. It's great you don't beg for them! I always cringe when I hear it. Have a great weekend
I'm a teacher too and the paper overload. I'd love to bring the minimalist outlook into my classroom, though that doesn't always feel within my control. Any tips for decluttering and minimizing within the chaos of the classroom?
Izzy p...I do watch some RUclips...only the RV travelers (about 5) & animal antics! Sometimes the antics some people think is cute that they do to their animals seems cruel to me, not just playing with them or letting them be natural. The RVers I watch have shown me so much about the US & where things are that I have gained a lot of knowledge. I never cared in geo. class in school, but ordinary people traveling around in ordinary ways is so interesting to me! I don't watch any sitcoms any more. The older some people get the definition of "funny" changes. I sure don't see the humor TV has anymore. : )
No I'm at that point now....I no longer have Facebook, Twitter or Instagram because they were talking not just alot of time but also joy and we're hurting my mental health so there now gone...
PS I have all notifications on but always all sound and vibration off. That Wai I see updates when I choose to pick up the phone but I never have sounds going off disrupting me

she brought up a good point about notifications, I only have it for calls and messages.
Love this video!. Notifications are such a distraction. I recently avoided social media and turned off notifications for a month and it was the best. I got to do more things that I love and didn't have time for. Congrats on 10K btw!!
I am so happy to hear that, Mariela! Also, thank you very much for the congrats! I am super excited about it! :)
Hi Sarah another great video! You always give me great motivation with your idea's for decluttering and minimalism. X
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that!
Omg yessss TV shows I need to downsize. Luckily lots of my shows have ended but staying on top of all of them can be stressful
It certainly is, especially in the age of streaming as well!
Should we add Pinterest . Gawd, I love that time-sucking app, lol. However, what I used to view as virtual scrapbooking has turned into a dream list. Time to start deleting...because it has caused me to hunger for things I didn’t even know I wanted.
Pinterest could definitely be added to the list!
Number 12 hitted really hard. I do the same, it is so difficult to keep up with so many accounts especially on instagram! Now i only follow the ones that inspires me and that actually have relevant information.
It is tough, but it sounds like you have made positive steps!
Sarah your videos are both great
and informative. I happily
get a notification for your videos
You are lovely and natural. So
many utubers have a utube voice
and always waving their hands
around and always say "Without
further ado". Drives me up the
wall so I unsubscribe. But you
are one of my favourites. Love
Useless and Pick Up Limes.
You are so sweet! I'm so glad that you enjoy the videos!
I have a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and I no longer color my hair either. I have definitely downsized my personal care products to just the basics...which reminds me that I need to toss all of those extra hair products I kept buying that I felt I needed, or wanted to try.
It can be very tempting to try out new hair products, but I agree that keeping in to just the basics is wonderful!
I love your channel. Thank you. I am working on minimizing things in my life. At my age I acquired stuff from family, friends etc. I am making small but steady changes.
I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you!
The social media tip is not bias at all:) I love social media and I also unfollowed and I friended a ton of people a while ago. It changed so many things for me
I'm glad it has helped you too!
Oooooo. You got me with the notifications! I get so distracted from my family when I get random notifications. Thanks so much for your videos! (Now to go turn off a few notifications!)
You are very welcome! I'm happy it is helpful!!
I’m a newbie to your channel and right now you are at 70,000 subscribers!
Welcome to the channel, Kerry! It is quite remarkable how it has grown!
I love it! It sounds like it adds a lot of value! :)
I’m so glad I came across your channel. I subscribed after you mentioned the notifications part. I have to agree with you on that I do that myself because at time we get distracted or side tracked due to notifications. Thank you for sharing!
Welcome to the channel, Aura! Keeping notifications off is so important to allow us to stay focused and present! Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you, Alexa!
Great video! Thank you so much 😃
You're welcome, Javier!
I’m amazed that you cut your clothing amount by half ! That’s huge !
Will start with my various garments today !
Good tips, also, on what foolishly distracts us.
Thank you! You've got this!
Hi Sarah another great video thank you for the tips. I'm not much of a social media person myself I used to be on Facebook but I got off of that and I have decluttered some of the RUclips channels I was watching.
I can definitely relate to that, Cathy! It is good to declutter some RUclips channels.
How much did I enjoy this video!? I will go ahead ahead and post this: 1 weekly Abundantly Minimal upload >>>>>>> 98% of regular cable TV! 1 weekly video is better than nothing Sarah, keep them coming! 😉👍
Yay!! That is a huge compliment! :)
I only have Facebook, 2 emails and RUclips account (just to watch videos honestly). I can't imagine having all the media accounts, too much work LOL
That is great, Katie!
Me being minimal on how I dress and my mom starts calling for being lazy not making myself look better. 😂😂😂 I only wear plain shirt and plain pants and same shoes everyday.
It's great that even at a young age you can recognize the benefits of a minimal lifestyle!
Mario Mario, I think that's so cool👌. Being an older woman, I'm trying to get to the minimal with my wardrobe. Wish me luck👍.
Super idées, merci beaucoup. Bonne année!
Aww, thank you, Catherine! Merci!
I love that you will be reducing your number of videos - less is more! Look forward to the videos whenever they come out. Congrats on 10k!
Yay! Thank you so much!
Paper clutter is very frustrating, especially with school records and medical records.
Loved your video.. Great points ✨
Thank you so much!
From your description of yourself, you are in fact an introvert. There are a lot of misconceptions about that. But anyway... welcome to the club. :)
That's always what I have thought, but I typically end up on the extroverted side of the spectrum on personality tests!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for all the wise tips! Minimalism is actually Islamic teaching. It's not only saving our money, but also time, concentration & life's target. By being minimal for ourselves, we maximize the extras for others. Means we care for other needs.
I love this! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you 🙏
I dont watch TV really and I dont have Facebook or anything like that. It's very freeing :)
Hi Sarah, hope you and Jake are fine. I was moving out and with all the stress of moving 6 people and.....oh so many things, I was a little out of the channel. But thanks God I'm back and up to pick up with all your amazing content. Love from Puerto Rico.
Hi Linda! It is so good to hear from you! I hope the move all went smoothly!
Its your life possum. You do what is important to you. We ll either stick around or not. Dont allow your audience dictate what you are comfortable doing.
I enjoy your talks. Probably because we think alike and even at my age I have learnt a few things from your topics.👍
Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you have learned things from the videos! :)
Honestly I have my notification when my calls are on but I try to turn off all of them just so I can stay on top of my productivity game. Thanks for sharing. Also your channel name is so cute!
Aww, thanks! That is a great way to avoid unnecessary distractions!
Thanks for the reminder about notifications. I paused the video to sort out my notifications. Thanks.
That is wonderful! I'm so happy it was a helpful tip!
I also believe in minimalism.
Almost at that 10K!!
Hi Quinn! I am very excited about it!
❤️ your idea of 1 time a week with day of week and time. See you next Wednesday at 3:30. Ty
Yay! See you then, Linda!
like your personality. same here, I hate many skin care products and not much make up.
Thanks for your thoughts and congrats in reaching your 13k subscribers! Much love Sarah.
Thank you so much!
this is awesome. i just finished decluttering after a whole year. thank you!!
That is wonderful! Congratulations!
My husband watches a lot of TV. So I don't watch it until he gets home. If he watches a show i hate I go in the study for a while.
Kathy B.
Great tips.👏👏
A language question: you said "more simple" a few times. When I learned English in school, I was told to use "simpler", is that changing in the spoken language?
Great question...I think you are right about saying simpler. This is a good thing for me to pay attention to in future videos! Thanks!
Letícia T I’m a teacher and both are acceptable.
Look to it.
That is pretty interesting...thanks for sharing!
Your video is very, very good. Tons of useful ideas that I will follow. Thank you so much. You're years apart from other "minimalist" guys that only copy-paste content.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me!
I really like your videos. I found you recently. One video is better than none! I'm excited to see what you create! Thank you!
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that, Angela!
WOW, I just want to say you glow. You look fantastic and healthy! Great Video again, thank you.
Aww, thank you!! You are very sweet!
Im just curious, what do you do for a living?
I have been a middle school teacher for the last five years, but starting a few days ago, I am now self-employed with Abundantly Minimal and the other company I run, Mr and Mrs Social Studies!
Good video! great points in your list and wasted time and energy on things that dont give us joy or value is valid advice
Thank you!
I like your genuineness. Thanks
Thank you, Yash!
You are delightful! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you for the kind words, Kasey! :)
Cool video! Really helpful tips, thanks:)
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful!
for meits hard; i've beencollect stuff dince the 70ties; different generaton, eh? i do declutter cleaning product and such though: old nivea works well...its enough
Thank you so much! I agree with you...I don't have any notifications for videos either because of it! I hope you have a great weekend too!
I'm a teacher too and the paper overload. I'd love to bring the minimalist outlook into my classroom, though that doesn't always feel within my control. Any tips for decluttering and minimizing within the chaos of the classroom?
It's great to hear from another teacher! What grade level/subject do you teach?
I only have notifications on for texts, phone, and my home alarm that’s it. I don’t have it for my email or anything else.
Thanks a lot
You are welcome!
Great video
Thanks!
Love your videos! I have been binge watching you 😂
Yay! I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying the videos!
Thank you. You made some great points. Very much so appreciated.
Thank you for the kind words, Joshua!
Video tips: as your talking it would be nice with cut aways to short shots of video from around your house and stuff like that
Thanks! I have actually been doing a lot more of that in all of my recent videos if you want to see it in action! :)
This was a great list! x
Thank you, Jessica!
I haven't owned a television in years. Waste of life to sit and watch tv. Read more as knowledge is power!
Especially because there's so much dumb shit on TV...and it's getting worse. Like do people really watch this? 😅
@@judyjudyjudy9593 are we twins!!
@@a.j.nelson3276 ....could be!!!!!!!!! LOL Judie
No I'm at that point now....I no longer have Facebook, Twitter or Instagram because they were talking not just alot of time but also joy and we're hurting my mental health so there now gone...
Great video!
Thank you, Elle!
In a world filled with consumerism being a minimalist seems like a good idea.😁👍
I completely agree!
Tv & celebrity addiction is for people without real lives.
PS I have all notifications on but always all sound and vibration off. That Wai I see updates when I choose to pick up the phone but I never have sounds going off disrupting me
That is a great strategy!
Thank you for this food for thought x
You are welcome, Melissa!
Do you have a video on cleaning products?
Great question, Samantha! At the moment I do not, but if you search homemade cleaning products on RUclips, I'm sure you will find some great options!
Great tips, very practical.👍🏻
Thank you, Charlotte!
just awesome !!
Thank you!!
