    好功夫= Ho Gongfu = Good Skills! 剛柔並用、力從地起、很好! 多謝分亨!! Displaying both the soft and hard elements (i.e. hidden) of Tai Chi Fist 太極拳, well done! Thank you for sharing this with the general public. An unselfish act!

    Damned probably the best video of tai chi that I have watched, totally in control on all the free flowing motion, I love how smooth you transitioned on every flow of motion you performed.

    •  4 года назад

      True, but not everyone can handle its physical demands. I used to take Chen Style. It was overwhelming after a while because I have physical limitations from past automobile accidents. I now switched to Yang Style. It's fantastic, but not as martial in its applications as the Chen Style is. I wish I learned this twenty years ago.

    Simply great, that's what I'm aiming for. Question (for everyone): how do you not hurt your knees? You stay bent so much and move the knees in all direction (which *shuld be* a no-no, ask me how I know!). Any expert advice on that? Thanks

    • @davidbaoyh
      @davidbaoyh  2 года назад +1

      The trick is to balance weight on the hip area, not on the knees. Knees are relaxed and not locked so knees can move around. Core and thigh muscles are engaged throughout so weight is not on the knees.
      Hope this helps.
      Practicing the horse stance - zhan zhuang can strengthen core, hip and thigh muscles.

    Hello, what is the recommended way to learn the 56 step Chen Taijiquan form? Does your Patreon have the lessons?

    • @davidbaoyh
      @davidbaoyh  2 года назад

      We have the Chen Tai Chi 18 Form course in our Patreon channel- www.patreon.com/davidbao
      You can learn the Chen Tai Chi 18 Form first as it will give you a good foundation in Chen Tai Chi. After that, you can proceed to learn the Chen 56 Form if you want. We have plans to teach Chen 56 Form on Patreon in the future. If you learn Chen 18 Form, it will be a LOT easier to learn the Chen 56 Form as 56 is a combi of Lao Jia and Xin Jia.

    I disagreed. The power originates from the ground via the soles of the feet to knees to waist/hip to spine/body to shoulder to elbows to hands, all done in a second or so. The transmission of strength may not be that obvious with the music and could appear like a dance rather than a martial art. Imagine without the music, a good martial artist should be able to see the subtle changes in between movements.
    Imagine if the practitioner slow down one more tempo and increase 50% power into the form, then it is certainly NOT flowery. Yes, Tai Chi fist traditionally meant to have the martial elements as well as the health elements. Yes, the practitioner has to follow a national routine, but that doesn't mean the art is flowery: though the techniques are hidden or being suppressed not to show its full martial potential, so to please the masses in our modern times. It is none the less - Tai Chi Fist. Take the 'cloud' hands in a 'Say Ping Ma' (wide horse stand) for example; if grounded firmly: it is not much different to a Shaolin fundamental basic stand (Shaolin and Wu Dan regarded as one of the main school in the world of Chinese martial arts: similar to Cambridge and Oxford in the academic world). In my view, all martial arts are brothers and sisters and cousins.
    Gongfu means effort over time. Certainly this practitioner had invested huge amount of time and effort to achieve this form. Incidentally, a simple movement is very difficult to enhance, let alone making it beautiful! 'HO Gongfu' (good Gongfu (Cantonese pronunciation)!)
    I am sure that all humble martial artists will appreciate his dedication, after all we are on the same boat as it were!
    Wing Chun Sifu J.Cheung.
