I’m a Big Wenceel the Pencil fan. I love his attitude at the plate he’s one of the only guys on the team that shows an “eye of the Tiger” I hope he influences the others to gain some Lion’s grit.
I have been saying it to I'm blue in the face. The Tigers must sign Skubal to a long term contract. If he is traded he will go on to be even better than he is now. Skubal is a leader on the mound and along with Greene, he is the heart and soul of this team. Thank you Scott. Ray
@@Ray-w7k I understand your Opinion and I agree that Greene should be a Tiger for Life. As great as Skubal is, the Detroit Tigers are in dire need for Offense. If a bidding war starts for Skubal and the return for him raises, my Opinion is that this is a Golden opportunity for the Tigers to address that need.
I’m right with ya Scott. I really hope we keep Skubal and decide to build around him. BUT…. .as a prospect junkie when I imagine some of the guys we could land, especially from Balt, it could just be too good to pass up. Jackson Holliday alone raises eyebrows and they also have a handful of guys ready and promising but they just don’t have room for. Dodgers are loaded too and have a C’er that looks good but they don’t have room for this season. Anyways great show again and I’m looking forward to the 2nd half and the trade deadline go Tigers!
The 1 thing fans have to remember is that disappointments happen to every team. The Tigers didn’t get “unlucky”. We didn’t expect Torkelson, Maeda, meadows to struggle. But also no one thought Skubal was a Cy young, Flaherty was almost an all star, Perez was an every day starter, Vierling becomes an everyday player with massive increased slugging, Riley Greene all star player. None of that was expected either. So it allllll evens out. If not we’ve got more luck with the unexpected. It’s the managing and the POBO job to deal with the ups and downs through the year which all 30 teams go through.
I like that but i would imagine that we would get less value back purely for the fact they will have to deal with that awful contract. Id rather eat the contract and get a ton a prospects. But i honestly dont want Skubal to get moved at all
Harris has some key players to work with to build a great ballclub. You have to acquire talent and so far, Harris burned up $25 million on whiffs with Maeda, Canha and Urshula. Flaherty had injury problems before coming to the Tigers and the injury bug is back, lessening the value the Tigers will get back in a trade. You have to wonder if the front office is focused on talent that can be acquired to build a winner, or, are they plugging holes with castoffs and the waiver wire? The talent is out there, go to work and get some of it.
Scottie , I need you to take a look at the records of the draftees, and evaluate. Other than a couple of them, they are a collection of non-performers in HS and College. Harris can't possibly justify any of those choices. How can a guy hitting .250 with no power in college help us. He drafted a slew of shortstops and only number one is worth a hoot. Yikes!
Try to get Isaac Paredes, Willie Castro, Bo Bichette, and a way to add Torey Luvalo to our coaching staff. Or maybe asst. GM. 🤗 I'm with the crew that thinks it would be stupid to let Skubal get away. Also, extend Jack Flaherty. Trades to bring in established bats is otherwise on the table.
Skubal plays once a week. He can only contribute (maybe) to 1 win a week. When he loses, he can only contribute to 1 win every 10 days...If we can get a return that insures a kick-ass lineup everyday? Skubal will be too expensive for a deal that will be too many years...and then he if he gets injured? Forget about it...If you can, you take the haul of everyday players from Baltimore or Boston.
At this point, ya gotta give up on Rogers. Move him for a Ballpark hot dog and three 13.00 beers. He's not all he's cracked up to be. Sub .200, can't block, power is gone, too many strikeouts, he's a liability with the bat. I know, I know... they claim he calls a good game and is a good pitch framer.. I don't see it. He is NOT a piece you build around, PERIOD! Move on, keep Kelly and bring up Dingler. The return for either is going to be zero or less than zero. Why not keep the better catcher and let Dingler learn on the job. Fuck Rogers.... we've all seen enough of the "centerpiece"...... Also, might as well keep Flaherty. With the pattern in recent years of tread deadline returns, and and being a two-month rental, the return would be negligible what you also consider is injury history. The notion that you have to trade him or let him walk at the end of the year for nothing is pure nonsense. Right now, the only thing that he would draw and trade is a minor leaker that's very likely never to reach the major league anyways keep him and let this team have a shot at finishing at 500 at least or above
So if we’re trading all our good players, what’s the incentive to keep watching the Tigers this season or next season? Makes no sense for us to keep watching, we’re just going to trade everyone once they’re good anyway?
When the Tigers had the opportunity to take advantage of Michael Fulmer's trade value, then didn't Pull the trigger. Look what happened. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake with Skubal.
Why does MLB continue to make the idiotic decision to not let the players in the All Star game where their normal home or away uniforms and caps? Having the AL and NL all wear the same jerseys is boring, compared to the terrific colorful regular season uniforms and caps. And when Duran hit the go-ahead homer for the AL, which earned him the MVP of the game, I didn’t know which team he played for (He’s one of the few players I didn’t know) and I would have known right away if he had worn his normal, traditional Red Sox uniform. Can MLB please be smart enough next year and let the players where their normal uniforms, even if it means it loses a few bucks from marketing the all star-only uniforms? The other three major sports first went to the same all star uniforms, but the three have boring all star games (no defense). Baseball has the best all star game that actually resembles the sport played. Don’t be a copy cat, and go back to those beautiful regular season uniforms and caps.
Well you know why… us idiot fans have to have the hats and jerseys for our collection. I think they should have done what they did for the pitchers, did you notice that the pitchers still had team logos on their caps? That all being said Duran did have the Boston B on his sleeve but it was not easy to see.

Flaherty, Kelly and Skubal will all go byebye due to free agency walk away. Detroit is not a destination without major overpay. Comerica park is not a player draw. Players want excitement not 5000 people on a tuesday vs Twins, thats minor league stuff. Canha finished 2023- 10 for 50 with zero homers and one walk- how is that a good pickup at 35 yrs old ? I hated it when they got him. Was glad to be wrong in april now it turns out I wasnt.
Harris is a child in adult clothing, he is MLB clueless. Look at the draft after the first pick, all non-performing players. He is a bigger waste of time than Avila.
Rogers has no value. Ditch him, keep Kelly. The return for Kelly would not even get a mlb future player.. the jakey Rogers experiment should have be over long ago.. I get so tired of everybody bragging Jake Rogers up. He ate shit. Let him go keep Kelly bring up dingler
