    In England, you can basically teach anything once you have QTS. In Scotland it is very strict . You can ONLY teach what you have a degree in and only what sector you are registered with. (Secondary or Primary)

    With respect, viewers please do your own research. Always thought...
    PGCE secondary - allows you to also teach primary.
    PGCE primary - does not allow you to teach secondary.

    • @Slidetotheleft
      @Slidetotheleft 2 года назад +2

      QTS is just a qualification towards being a teacher, it is up to a secondary school as to whether they want to employ someone who trained in Primary. I know a couple of trainees from my Primary PGCE course that moved into teaching KS3 at secondary school. If you have a good specialism subject knowledge - you're good to apply!

    I was really shocked to hear you say that if I do a primary PGCE and get QTS, I could teach my undergrad degree subject at GCSE or A Level! Will I be required to take some kind of extra course to be able to do that, or will I already be qualified enough with just my QTS from primary education PGCE? 😳

    • @Slidetotheleft
      @Slidetotheleft 2 года назад +1

      If I'm honest I'm not entirely sure! I haven't looked into it in too much detail as it's not a route I'm considering at the moment. However I imagine that simply a QTS in Primary and then some experience working with secondary aged children could land you in an interview!

    Do you get paid working in your school placement?

    • @Slidetotheleft
      @Slidetotheleft 2 года назад +2

      No - it is a course through a university so you pay the tuition. If you want to get into teaching but are unsure about PGCE fees I would recommend going through something like TeachFirst. This is a stream where you go straight into teaching your own class from the beginning on a paid salary instead of moving between placements whilst studying.
