The fact that you had pink eye during this video exactly sums up a crucial part of my teaching experience. I am ALWAYS GETTING SICK. Schools will often stress perfect attendance and students are coming in sick, therefore not only putting the other students in the class at risk, but also the teacher. (Also, students come in with stomach bugs A LOT, the amount of times a student has thrown up in my classroom over the years is honestly unfortunate).

I’ve been a teacher for 13 years. Sadly, this will be my last year as I’ve just had enough. It’s scary changing careers, and I feel very sad that the state of education has got to this point. I thought I’d be a teacher forever. There are some pros, but at the minute I just couldn’t recommend being a teacher. It’s such a shame.

      Why don't you recommend it?

@@hgardz too many reasons to mention! The main thing for me was feeling like I was failing the pupils that needed the most support as SEN funding/resources have depleted. But now I’ve worked outside of a school for a while I also can’t believe how long I worked in a profession with such long working hours and no flexibility.

I always loved the idea of been a teacher and I was debating last year to actually go for it and leave been a childminder, but if I’m honest I’m so pleased I have stuck to been a childminder. Good pay, own hours, own boss etc xx

I heard that teaching vacancies have increased but for secondary it's only in some subjects, e.g. stem have loads of opportunities but english and arts don't :(

Is cover supervisor a role which could be utilised as a stepping stone into teaching? Or QTS

There no longer are any advantages to being a teacher. So don’t waste you time on this crappy lower level civil service or church employee job.
