Mr. Olka, I noticed that this is the only T&E that doesn’t feature a contrabass tuba, and I was wondering, will you be doing any T&E videos featuring bass tubas? These videos are excellent resources for those who are looking to buy instruments, and while I’m quite happy with my Meinl Weston 3450 at the moment, within a year I’ll be in the market for an F tuba. I’ve mainly been considering Meinl Weston models, but I’m open to trying something different, in which can a guide like this would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
Matt says the biggest benefit of the oil is that it won't dry up as quick as something like Al Cass. I've been trying it on my sousa (which doesn't see use more than every couple weeks) and so far the assertion has been true in my experience.
What would you suggest for heavy outdoor use where the horn comes in contact with the ground on regular occasion? I play contra during summer marching band and I had problems with junk in the valves and sticky valves all summer this year. I use using Blue Juice as it was what was recommended to me when I started playing and I haven’t been playing long enough to really explore anything else. Thank you!
Raghul Sachi almost all of the playing I do is outside in pretty dirty conditions. We were having problems with dirt and whatnot getting into the valve casings on our tubas this summer. I’m trying to find something that’ll work well in high temperatures and won’t cause problems if there’s something in the casings
I would love to see you play-test the new Dillon mouthpieces side by side. The only chance I've had to try them has been at the conference "elephant room" and that makes it really hard to hear subtle differences.
