It's crazy that we now have this amount of tone shaping power in such a tiny pedal. Just 10-12 years back the Kemper head was praised for having so much power in just one amp head, and now there's a micro pedal with almost the same amount of power (except for the capturing itself).
Yep, and TBH I PREFER that the capturing be computer based because then they can update it without the hardware limitation of the current generation of pedal.
@@TaylorDanley I agree. Even back when the Kemper was new I was thinking why the heck doesn't someone create a similar software for PC/Mac. Doesn't matter how powerful they say that the Kemper was/is, it's still much less powerful than even a budget laptop. IK and NAM really made a huge impact in the machine learning amp capturing business.
My first thought of using this is because I run my hx stomp into the return of a valveking..you could just load an awesome amp onto the tonex one and just strap it to the front of your amp and run it into the return and boom you have whatever amp you want for less then $200 bucks
I own a boss gt 1000 and a blackstar amped 1 power amp was looking to buy a revv g4 distortion pedal or a tone x one what would be your recommendation. Tank you
I got my TONEX pedal last week and got most of it nailed down but still browsing videos to see what more I can do with it or can learn. Now I have to get the TONEX ONE. I have to say, I had the PODxt years ago and this TONEX pedal blows all that old sh*t away. Hooked into my effect loop return of my Marshall Tube amp and damn! I think I want the TONEX ONE to get those few effects pedals I cannot afford or would rarely use. $179.00 you cannot beat that with a stick.
Hey Taylor, really liked the video. Especially the intro! One question though: How the heck do you get the track so loud? IT SLAPS! I just mixed something to -14 LUFS and -0,1 TP (RUclips specs), but it doesn´t come close to your track!
so i just ordered the tone x one i just want to load the driftwood purple nightmare head to it. does their app connect to it to load it or do i buy the head ir pack ?
I understand that EQ changes I make to a capture while using the pedal will be retained as I switch between A and B or other stored captures, but it won't effect the original capture when I reconnect to the computer will it? Or at least not without an overwrite command?
Hey Taylor. Do you get a kickback for the tone x one. If we order it from the link? You've been really generous and helpful responding to my comments. Let me know so I can pre-order it through your channel.
Tbh I wouldn't use this for the amp models since I already have the TMP, but I'm curious how well it would work with running it as an OD/Boost in synergy etc
The Tonex One is cool. However setting the software up was a miserable process. Not only that the software constantly crashes or freezes. It's off my board for now.
You actullay can get what this thing does and more and for a cheaper price(depends on a region though). Mooer prime p2 is much more versatile thing, some people even gig with it using additional footswitch
@@aaronhiggs I get it, but tbh you wouldn't hear the difference even if you're just jamming with a backing track. and I was mostly saying about the functionality.

@Jootn2kx it's not at all. I use my ears, not youtubers. I don't get your type. I'm 48 and i embrace new tech. I'll take a poor man's Kemper any day, the tonex. I'm going to sell my boss gt6 and pre-order one lol.

Yeah, and because it's so small if you wanted to use it as a preamp loader in conjuction with whatever else is on your board, it won't get in the way.
If IK would make a pedal version of Amplitube5 it would be game over for everyone else.
boss gt-1 😢
I agree with this alot and have a video on this exact subject soon lol.
@@TaylorDanley The rigs you can make on Amplitube5 are INSANE. If they put that in a ToneX type pedal it would be worth it's weight in gold.
Couldn't agree more!!! Amplitube 5 is fantastic. Having that in pedal format really would be game over for anything else.

Hey Taylor! Do you plan to review the BOSS Katana Go?
I don't have plans to, but if Boss ever reaches out then yes!
I really want a Tonex version with an additional balanced XLR out with an always-on cab sim.
So if i I got the pedal And a Harley Benton cheaper cab, could I be rocking and rolling with a full setup?
@@TommyGunzzz Almost, you'd need a power amp unless it's a powered cab. Harley Benton has a cheap one that works quite well.

Also I see that sneaky amp preview, that should be fun 👀
Yeah, Royce let me borrow that. I'll have it in another video soon!

@@TaylorDanley ok man. Will do.
can you give me a link to the power amp pedal you are using in this video?
Just search ThisHeavyEarth Higher Power.
Best fucking mix Ive heard so far with this fucking pedal. Goddamn
What power amp are you using? Or what should I look into?
Taylor's using the Higher Power power amp pedal by This Heavy Earth. Another really popular option is the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170.
Tbh I wouldn't use this for the amp models since I already have the TMP, but I'm curious how well it would work with running it as an OD/Boost in synergy etc

What's the original one like compared to this one?
I’d put this third, behind the boss ir, and the pod express.

I wonder how long until dedicated 1 trick effects pedals (delay, reverb, distortion, etc..) are completely unnecessary. Seems like. ..now.
Man everyone gets a really cool tone using Tonex, so far I didn't manage to make it work. Nice video!
Thanks dude. I have some of these up on the platform for free if you want to try them.
@@TaylorDanley where can I find yours?
So is it modeling or profiling?

Would the tonex se software download third party capture?? It is not the tonex max
I believe so, I think with MAX you just get more official IK tone models. Idk for sure.
Behold ...the ultimate fly rig. This device can get rid of 4 of my pedals. Im almost compelled to get it.

Hx stomp or the tone x?
Depends on what you want to do, I'd argue that they work better together since they do really different things.
I'd love to see your setup in a live situation
Come to Portland when my band plays 💪
One big one or two little ones?
Pretty smart play by ik 👍
I think so also!
Is there an app for your phone?
There is a TONEX app for the phone, but I don't believe you can edit the pedal with it.
