I bought one last week, got rid of my irig HD, replaced it with an Axe I/O Solo and bought Ilouds to replace my presonus monitors. I’m in a small apartment so space matters, but the tones I’m getting now are so much more inspiring and the ilouds are unbelievable! Ty for sharing my man, please capture that new Bad Cat Jet Black you had in that one video. That was a GREAT SONG and killer tone!
Awesome video man. Glad that you showed off the stereo dual amp rig option. The only improvement that I would surely welcome is a gate with downward extention multiband denoising- like the Bertom denoiser. Some of the high-gain Tone models are quiet with the current gate when not playing, but tend to allow a lot of noise and hiss through while playing. I've found the Bertom denoiser ridiculously helpful for in DAW studio recording, but when I play live with Tonex pedal I find room for improvement. Helix has a better gate imo. Outside of this aspect, Tonex is king!
Fantastic demo, Michael! What intrigues me the most is the addition of the USB-C audio interface which means I could run Eventide plug-ins from my iPad and amp from this thing. In stereo. Wow.
I ruined so many serial numbers on the bottom on pedals before I started doing it. The technique came from Dan at That Pedal Show / Gig Rig. It works great!

I always loved your tones that you made for the Friedman JJ Junior Video. Would you please make a collection of all the possible tones for Friedman JJ (solo, riff, crunchy rhythm, Clean tones with JJ mode, BE mode and the Clean Mode)? And for the STP tone
That is really cool. Companies seem to always be releasing "new" things, but they aren't necessarily innovative and in many cases not as good as products already on the market. ToneX seems to be batting 1000 in that department releasing two shut up and take my money pedals.
How many pedals have I bought that sounded great on the YT, which after trying them at home end up on a shelf while I stick with my guitar directly into my Marshall? I'm so done with pedals and extra cables, each one of them being another connection headache.

Hear me out. This thing with a BOSS ME-90. Build up killer patches in the ME90, capture that chain/patch into the TonexOne with 2 different pedal chains from the BOSS and have the ME-90 stay in the car while I blow down Wembley. I’m not even joking lol. Or just use it with the ME-90 for even more coolness and zero menu diving. For about $550 I’d have quite the little setup to light up ppl at the HollyWood Bowl. Now I’m leaning towards 2 of these and cloning all my cool patches in the ME90 to them both. Leave the Kemper, Helix and Amps, cabs and pedalboards where they now belong, ( according to most live venues, ) at home. Show up with 2 of these and my ESP Eclipse and my Strat and takeover the world. And remember, the audience doesn’t care or hear all of our insane tones we’ve spent decades crafting and spent our entire lives fortune on. I guarantee my plan will work. See you all at Saitama Super Arena. 2 of these and a 7 band EQ pedal and I can take over the entire world. Starting with Madison Square Garden. Been looking at these for a few months but after this video I’m sold. Just ordered 2. See you at the Nissan Center soon.

It handles guitar volume changes better than Kemper, but it's still not quite as accurate (feeling) as a real tube amp. I guess maybe because it's digital it wants to see a big clear signal to process. But it does to a solid job at it.
@@BigHairyGuitars Thanks. I'm thinking I'd much rather have the TOnex pedal on the end of my pedalboard if an amp goes down then carry 2 amps. This is much more back friendly.

@@BigHairyGuitars Thanks Michael. I've been going back and forth about getting the Tone X to just use for recording and this should more than meets the need.
Mike, quick question, if you have pedal chain that has chorus/detune, then can ToneX One capture it? Or does it only work for overdrive/drive pedals with EQ?
Lacking MIDI entirely, these will be very difficult to make use of in a custom system. They seem designed exclusively for recording use where a player can be patching and futzing around with programming. The one exception is when using a fully analog insert switcher. Digital units will accrue intolerable latency-based delay when used for multiple inserts. As great as these sound, buyers should be made aware of this.
True, but the bigger Tonex pedal has full midi and is still inexpensive for the quality of modeler that it is. A single MINI would work like a 2 channel amp. Pretty simple and portable.
@@BigHairyGuitars Please know I’m impressed as hell! I make custom systems and face these questions all the time so I just wanted to mention that in case someone like my customers is reading and could use that little bit of perspective. With Analog switcher such as a Rocktron Patchmate, a simple but real full MIDI stage system at a very exciting price is possible.
@@BigHairyGuitars Well, forgive my ignorance re the Pedal’s ridiculous price!! I was guessing exactly double. That’s pretty stunning. I’ll look to see if you’ve reviewed it.
i own an original fender deluxe reverb blackface 1964 no logo and an early Matchless sc 30. Now, have to learn this stuff and i am old. Can i just use tonex in front of my amps, no computer? Thanks, My main guitars are a 78 Les Paul standard or Fender Hellecasters, custom shop, John Jorgenson or Will Ray Tele’s or a 335. Thanks for any help. You are awesome! Subscribed.
This replaces your amps. With the right gear you can capture your amps as a digital profile for this pedal. That's what it is originally designed for. YOu can also take profiles of just pedals and use it in front of your real amps. Best of all from my perspective is the option to be able to download and use the profiles of others from the Tone X library.
With the stereo sound there is something strange. The guitar signals are only on the left side and the room/delay is on the right side. Is this intentional?
Essentially, this makes older modelers of the last 20 years, serviceable again. Overdrives of older modelers were lacking, but effects were usually good, now with this, it puts older modelers back in the game. 👍
Is it possible to have a true bypass when you have 2 amps in the pedal and connected to my normal amp. That way I would have 3 different amp in one set up. Possible?
I think this amazing release will pale in comparison to what IK has coming. I predict an all in one unit capable of dual amps, with built in effects, and power amp that combines all the aspects of their modeling tech with their capture tech in one package. So, when you pull up your capture of the JCM 800 you have, a model that looks and responds like a real JCM 800 will be used. IK will have to take their decades of modeling tech, and their contracted models of amps with Marshall, Mesa, Fender and put them to use in this next all in one board.
My original idea was to have only direct captures that someone could use as if it’s a stand alone preamp. But the downside is that they didn’t have built in cabs. And I think a large number of people just want a quick fix. Because of the structure of the IK store I couldn’t update them there. So they’re now also up on my store. I added cab IR’s to all of the presets, so they can be dropped right into Tonex and are good to go. Also there are other capture I made that I wanted to include, so I’m able to update on my store and send updates to customers. If someone already purchased from tonenet, I’m happy to update them for an appropriate cost… free in most cases. 🤘 just send me an email at the bighairyprofiles store
I would have to use a power amp if I was wanted sound out of a traditional speaker cabinet. But I'm running direct into the computer to record, so I don't need a power amp. The power amp tonality was already captured into the preset.
I want that same Shabat guitar but I dont see it listed on their website. Is it coil-splited? What bridge/tremolo and pickups are on it? Sorry too many questions😅
Hi! Thanks! If you contact Shabat and tell them you want Michael Nielsen’s blue guitar. They’ll know what you’re talking about. The neck is the biggest difference. They shaped it based on a few of my favorites. It’s sort of in between 2 of their standard neck shapes. The pickups are Lollar Imperial in the bridge and Lollar el Rayo in the neck. Not tapped. I tried tapped, and you lose a little something when you do that. It’s subtle but each additional switch and electronics added take something away from the full HB sound. I’ve found that with other guitars as well. Sometimes it’s needed, but for this I preferred as straight wire as possible. The bridge is a gotoh 510 I believe. 4 springs. 3 was too few and it was a little too sensitive to wobble
Dood lay down some Pat Travers or Thin Lizzy classic vibes. Your a John Sykes fan lay some down for us classic rock players. All I hear out their is blues, church, and thrash. No one out there are doing classic 70s and 80s rock n metal vibe demos.
So you've never heard anybody's tone live or jamming and thought it would be awesome to have? Also you can tweak settings like any other amp or device to your liking so what's the difference?
@@joshuaphillips5379 Actually you can't tweak properly to personal taste, that aspect is quite restrictive and very limited via Tonex particularly, those who have already acquired the gizmo are telling that themselves in droves now, I like some of the tones others have personalised, but that's my point! -they are only their tones, not mine, I much prefer my own and being tone-creative to suit my own gear and playing style thanks.

Not everyone needs all that stuff. Clean dirty. Complex rigs aren’t for everyone.
@@nickm.9474 But some do. I was thinking about them and explained myself perfectly well, if you just read.
i own an original fender deluxe reverb blackface 1964 no logo and an early Matchless sc 30. Now, have to learn this stuff and i am old. Can i just use tonex in front of my amps, no computer? Thanks, My main guitars are a 78 Les Paul standard or Fender Hellecasters,
custom shop, John Jorgenson or Will Ray Tele’s or a 335.
@@TheOligoclonalBand thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. Be well.
What is going on with those slippers?
Can you do amp tone captures with ToneX One?
With the stereo sound there is something strange. The guitar signals are only on the left side and the room/delay is on the right side. Is this intentional?
Essentially, this makes older modelers of the last 20 years, serviceable again. Overdrives of older modelers were lacking, but effects were usually good, now with this, it puts older modelers back in the game. 👍
What's the blue tape for on the sides and back of the pedal?
Killer!! Buffered?
Hey Michael! What’s that device located right above your Mac Pro???
That’s the undertone audio GB tracker- for reamping and DI capture when recording guitar level instruments
Wow
Not only do I need the Tonex One, I need the pair of slippers that you're wearing!🩴💯
Cool
Do you go stereo out of the tonex to stereo in the timeline then stereo out of the timeline to your audio intrrface? Thks
The Tonex is mono, so you should run it into a stereo pedal like a chorus or delay
@@BigHairyGuitars they say you can use a stereo jack?
@@BigHairyGuitars Buzzer! Its stereo if you use the right cables sir.
@@PaulLembo I JUST learned that from watching Hennings video! WOW, I blew it there! SORRY
Cool, why did you update your captures?
@@BigHairyGuitars Thanks for explaining and for the free captures! I use the preamp and cab for our STP covers.
@@onewiththings AWESOME!!!
What is the Time Line patch at 4:40? Beautiful
Thanks. It's a stock preset called Emerging, I added a touch a reverb in the daw as well
This may seem like an obvious question but you're not using a power amp?
I would have to use a power amp if I was wanted sound out of a traditional speaker cabinet. But I'm running direct into the computer to record, so I don't need a power amp. The power amp tonality was already captured into the preset.
@@BigHairyGuitars wow! Thanks, Michael👍 That really is quite bonkers indeed!
The gate is junk. So u still need a gate and a compression and a reverb
Can you change ir's on it?
That needs to be done in the software then you export the sound into the pedal
@@BigHairyGuitars Thanks👍...need to have that v30 blend from you 😉
I want that same Shabat guitar but I dont see it listed on their website.
Damn. Keep getting smaller and smaller. Your move line 6
Sorry! It has a gain. Alt> Gain
Dood lay down some
Pat Travers or Thin Lizzy classic vibes. Your a John Sykes fan lay some down for us classic rock players. All I hear out their is blues, church, and thrash. No one out there are doing classic 70s and 80s rock n metal vibe demos.
Shabat and shalom my j----ish brother
🤘my guitar maker is Jewish. So perhaps that makes my guitar Jewish??? I’ll have to ask somebody 😂

Yikes 2 tonex in stereo was so out of phase
I have GAS
Ludicrous piece of kit
I'd rather have one Kemper Player with 50 tones at my feet, tons of FX, IRs, etc etc, than three of these ToneX ONEs.
Another Shabat!!! STOPPPPP
The gate is junk and the comp & reverb junk
I'm not into it or the entire concept either, it's only playing somebody else's recorded tones when all is said and done.
Ths is a very UN-inspiring video. Mike done jumped the shark yall!
This seems personal. Obviously his content is awesome, and you're quite glaringly the only person who feels this way. What the hell is your deal?
@@herecomesaregular8418 There is nothing personal about it. I wonder the same, why do you care about this guy? You his boyfriend or something? It's crazy to me that you even care what anyone thinks of this guy one way or the other. He looks and acts like he is on some kind of medication in this video or is severely depressed compared to his other videos. He has pretty much just become a shill for any company that will throw him a few bucks these days. I was simply pointing out that this video is a big departure from his videos he made a few years ago. I do not care if this man or his kid lives or dies, let's just be clear about that.... I feel that way about everyone in life though, I only put this fact out there so you see I am coming from a place of neutrality, I do not care one way or the other, there's nothing personal to it, it's all a matter of me having the freedom to express my own personal opinions on anyones video I feel like it regardless of how negative my opinion may be and regardless of if it's in the minority, none of that matters. This is a free space and I will express myself in any way I see fit. Michael is only on RUclips because it is one of his streams of income, he is not your friend or buddy, so you should stop acting and treating him as such. Like I said, dude and his kid can die in a car accident later today or a home invasion and I won't shed a tear or care at all and neither should you or anyone else, and again it's nothing personal to Mike, everyone should feel this way about everyone that we don't even actually know in our personal lives. You people that clamour around youtubers like him and stick up for him anytimes someone disses them are pathetic, you don't know him, he is not your friend, he is just another person on youtube making income like everyone else on youtube. I watch his videos to learn about different types of gear, I do not watch because i like the guy. Not saying I dislike him, just saying I have no feelings for the guy one way or the other, I don't care if he, or anyone else in this world for that matter lives or dies.
I wanna see the Friedman plexi demo, not this S$%t!
I want a portable jet pack that can jump me past traffic so I can quickly get to my favorite coffee shop. But alas. There is nowhere to get one.
