Anybody pushing products out would be a fool not to have you demo them! By far you give the best representation of the gear that all of us are interested in and want to buy. Well done Pete as always, exemplary playing! I keep waiting for you to throw a band together and tour!
Scary shit! Yowza! I'm a tube amp guy, but for recording this thing would be absolutely incredible to have in my tool kit, and for FOR UNDER $200!! I could just collect captures, mostly for free if I understand correctly? This little box is crazy! Thanks, Pete!
Always love the multiple tones and layered tracks incorporated in the intros. U really know what to play and whete to use it in the mix, showing its fullest potential. Also, I don’t know how u manage come up with pretty much a whole song every time someone sends you a pedal. When I heard your ethos Twe-1 trainwreck in a box demo all the tones sounded unbelievable, so I immediately found a veroboard layout and built one…and sounded pretty good too, but not Pete Thorne good…thanks for the content my fellow Canadian!!
Two Geniuses in one place: Pete Thorn and IK Multimedia! This pedal is astonishing - I own a TONE-X pedal (the big one) and this would be a fabulous addition to that for a small footprint portable unit. Thanks you you both
Thank you for explaining use as a preamp! I've watched several other videos and even asked about and you are the first (that I've seen) to explain that possibility. \m/
This little thing is awesome. If they were going to make a flagship item, i think it would be cool to do a tonex+ that runs stereo, has an fx loop, works as a usb interface, and has a headphone jack. A guy can dream.
Some awesome tones there, Pete. I don't always use headphones as evenings are family time and it's a little rude to wear them, but some occasions warrant it. Your captures are huge and adding a little sauce via the pedal works beautifully. Thanks for the great vid-making me think about investing in the IK Multimedia world.
Pete you are so good at just getting to the nub of what a piece of gear like this is and the ways you can use it. I was a bit "meh' about this pedal but now I think it's a pretty versatile and capable bit of gear. And your playing is always brilliant. ✌
Hey Pete. FYI RUclips really doesn't want me (I'm 18+) watching this video. Their "paid endorser warning" took 4 attempts to circumnavigate and sent me elsewhere for the same product review. I thought you should know. You're the best.
Hi Pete, ok I have the lamp, the three headed skull ring, and the last chair you were so gracious to tell me the chair and where you got it at. Cool thanks for that now what new chair is that cause at 75 years young I tend to nod off on occasion and your new chair would allow me to do that! So what chair is the newbie sir and where did you get it at? I look forward to you coming my way in Kansas City shake your hand hoping some magic happens in the transfer of that handshake sir!! Maybe im delusional or just weird but I can always hope sir? Thanks Pete as always as you sir ROCK for sure!! Oh before I forget when I run into hot babes I tell them my name is Pete Thorn!! I hope that's OK sir as I get lucky on rare occasion very rare occasions sir!! Take care Mr Thorn!!
PETE, that's a great vid! I put the earphones on and started laughing! Like, how great does this thing sound! Amazing!! My problem is, do I want the tonex or the tonex one? I think I'm good either way.
Ok I love this for so many reasons. First, your playing sounds like you and you alone! Tonex sounds so good and for the price it’s amazing! Finally, looks like maybe a new Suhr (SSH w/ the d-Tuna Floyd)? Niiiiiice
PT HSS with a Floyd?? What are you and Mr Suhr up to?? Just got a PT HSS sig. I've been looking longingly at them since you first showed them on your vids. At first, I missed the big low end of my HSS Strat, but once I took it to rehearsal and turned it up, I learnt to love the clarity and the way that Thornbucker II sings when it's cranked. The neck is so good and the SS frets are so crisp. The trem is stays in tune like a Floyd but has the feel of a Gotoh 510 which I love. Just a properly great guitar and perfect for the band I play in that covers 60's to 90's.
The gauntlet has been thrown down! I bet Quad Cortex Mini is in the works. Boss needs to step up into this realm of captures. Then they can sell their pedals with just downloads.
@notalkguitarampplug-insrev784 that makes sense. But this is by no means a competitor for the kemper player. You have way more flexibility with the kemper player, not to mention the kemper reverb and delays. The original tonex is a better competitor for that comparing the sizes and footswitching capabilities. You are limited to only two amps on this pedal.
It will actually store up to 20 presets, but you can select between two on the foot switch at any time. Out of the 20 stored you just have to pick which two.
Hi, Pete,, when using the Tonex as a preamp directly into the power amp stage of the amplifier, I understand that only the Cab IR is deactivated, but the signal going to the power amp still includes the preamp and the simulated power amp stage. My question is: wouldn't this result in a duplication of power amp stages when using it as a preamp, leading to an unnecessarily processed sound?
Wow. This sounds fantastic and extremely functional & efficient…not to mention very innovative! Thanks for a very well-explained review. Definitely going to pick one up.
I mention it a little bit later in the video, after the song, I used a plug-in of a Roland CE1 on the part- but I show the sound later without it, so you can just hear the raw tone of the pedal
Is there a lot of background noise when using the pedal alone with headphones? The larger version is unfortunately very loud with humming and noise. Just like many similar products that do not have their own grounding like the kemper player. I am still looking for a quiet product for playing only with headphones 😉
I got one and though the captures sound amazing, the pedal did not sound good with drive pedals in front of it. I tried a few clean settings and no go. I even had a buddy try and listen. Our conclusion was it sounds good by itself but not on a pedal board. Maybe I wasn't patient enough to try all the amps, I was just hoping it would work.
Great video brodda... nice job on this...very cool pedal! btw...how do u like those saddles u have on the Tele? I been thinking about trying those for a while now-
Let me parcel some information to everybody that What likes this video. This is a great pedal. I’ve got one. I’ve got the bigger one but it’s only as good as the speakers you play it through so if you go to a festival like I do very often and there’s D and B audio or Ella acoustics yeah you’re loving it but if it’s a little small Festival and you’re playing through some speakers that come from Thomann called the Box you’re not gonna get a proper amp Sound through those Monitors. Then you carry a powered cab but then you may as well just take a normal amp so in a way really for me this is great for the studio
Now I can build a pedalboard that can fit in a fanny pack! Seriously, though, this makes me want to build a microboard to compliment my existing Tonex board. Exciting stuff!
Question: Does Tonex (and amp modellers in general) profile the tonal characteristics of the valves in your amp and reflect that in the profile too? In other words, if I have NOS Mullards’s in the amp I profile, will I hear that in the profile, next to an identical amp profile done with just stock valves?
Hey Pete, I just ordered one of these based upon your review! Thanks for the heads up on this incredible pedal from Tonex! I need to get some of your Tonex IR captures in the near future. You sound fantastic as always my friend! See you Sunday! 🤘
Hi Pete. when you A/B two amps. If the A amp has compression and reverb, does that mean the B amp also has the same Compression and reverb setting or are they saved separately . thanks
Awesome!! lots of Amp Sounds in a little bit of realistate! IS it where you really the main Tone-X unit or you can just download preset's from the website directly??, Thanks Pete &as usually ( but I still have to day it ) Awesome song!! 🤘🎸🤠Your Music-In-Law
Hi Pete, great video, and what a mighty pedal. I have a question, I would like to know if it works with a multi effects unit like the nova system, using it in the line imput for the time effects, delays, reverbs, and mod, pitch
Thank you Pete! Great video. Out of curiosity, do you know what it sounds like when you plug the ToneX ONE into the amp + cab that your modeling when you use it as a pre-amp (without the cabs/mics)? It seems the way most people intend to gig with this is to go into the PA, but a lot of musicians don't have a full PA setup for practice.
Well, that's kind of like the solo tone I used- you can just capture the amp only, then plug the pedal into a power amp and cab (or the FX return of an amp, to access its power amp only) and a cab
The idea that I can get Pete Thorn captures without breaking the bank , is selling me pretty hard on the ToneX ecosystem.
Where do you get his ToneX tones from?
Yes, where???
Anybody pushing products out would be a fool not to have you demo them! By far you give the best representation of the gear that all of us are interested in and want to buy. Well done Pete as always, exemplary playing! I keep waiting for you to throw a band together and tour!
Hi, Pete! I love your videos because not only the info being used is explained simply, but the guitar playing is awesome!
Wow they packed SO MUCH into that tiny little pedal! Very intriguing!
Amazing the things pedals can do today. Great time to be alive watching tech advance. Thanks Pete!
Another great demo, pretty amazing capabilities. What a time we live in! Thanks Pete.
Another killer presentation as usual Pete, real food for thought, thanks mate.
Your intros are a joy to behold. Greetings from Wales.
Glad you like them!
Pete is amazing.
Love this. I keep watching it from time to time because I still can’t fathom how this tiny $150 pedal does all that! Mercy.
@Pete crushed again with this Tonex 1 demo -- suggest you all wear headphones when you listen - music kicks ass
Scary shit! Yowza! I'm a tube amp guy, but for recording this thing would be absolutely incredible to have in my tool kit, and for FOR UNDER $200!! I could just collect captures, mostly for free if I understand correctly? This little box is crazy! Thanks, Pete!

@@PeteThorn Add "too modest" to my assessment! Love your style and you are a splendid instructor
I need a product that transfers Pete's skill yo me. I always love your choice of notes.
Thanks so much!
Pete.......pete.....you just get better and much better and better.
🙏
You can plug into a rotten potato and sound killer. Monster player, and the hair is on point Mr. Thorn!
I bought one because of this video!
How does it sound for us mortals?
Sounding amazing as always PT-2000. I'm glad this exists. It means that NAM player pedals of this format will exist S O O N.

Love the guitars, great demo. The way you demo and incorporate that gear and make a tune with it is awesome, love your music.
Thank you! I really enjoy coming up with the music/tracks
Seriously blown away by this.. I basically just use a HX stomp as stereo amps at the end of my chain.. this blows that out of the water.. 🤯
Thanks Pete! You´re awesome! Great tone and playing!!!! 😀
I hope they release soon the "ToneX GO", the portable headphone amp that'll compete with Katana Go, Fender Mustang Micro and NUX MP3 😃
Посмотрел разные обзоры на эту педаль , в этом видео самый лучший звук, у парня отличный вкус.
Good stuff man, really useful info ~ thank you.🙏Great playing too!
That black sparkle guitar is SICK

Very Good work!
Love the review Pete ! Your a class act 🇺🇸
I was thinking literally 2 days ago about how it would be nice to have a mini amp pedal on my board..... these companies are reading my mind now
Amazing capability at this price point. BTW those Suhr's are incredible! Love the one with the Filtron pickup sounds amazing!
Still doesn't beat the cheaper Moore RADAR though.
This was made for me 🥰
Really enjoyed this demo, thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Pete where is the link to buy down load your Tonex captures ?
Thanks Pete, this is a device I needed to know about! 👍🏻
Happy to help!
Great demo!

Great song , the pedal is tight sounding, guitar licks are hot :)
One demo showed you could defeat the cab sim at any point on the pedal.
Just returned the kemper player ❤
Was it for this small pedal? I'd understand why you'd return it for the big tonex, but not this. Unless you literally only use two profiles at a time.
@@rethinktone yes will use both in conjonction with hx stomp

Amazing bass on your Vocals
You should sing
Also Big fan of your playingand tone of course
I’m in to give it a spin I plainly use all tube amps
Humbucker guitars and tons of rack gear curious to see what this will do
That little guy looks really useful. Wicked shredding Pete. - So it holds two? and I don't have to own the bigger pedal first?

Can you do a bass demo? Nobody ever does bass on these. Would love to see if this works for an ampeg b15 or Aguilar etc.
