That run at 31:14 is so effortless, breezy, and intuitive for her. I'd love to see someone break it down and do a challenge replicating it. As many times as I've heard this song, I've never really noticed how intricate it was.

Since 1997 when I first heard this song, I was totally in love with this song. I can go months or years without hearing another Mariah Carey song, but "Fourth of July" is a song that I am constantly listening to. For me this song is like a refreshing glass of water on a hot day and I am very thirsty. Thank you very much for sharing this analysis. 👍👍

Such an underrated song, my god! For me this has always been the "underneath the stars" from this album. What shockes me everytime about the work you present and share with us, is the realization of how much effort is put into the making of a song, even more, coming from a perfectionist such as Mariah. There is so much that gets lost into the final mix when you just listen casually the song right?.
I'd love you to do Close my eyes (if you haven't) and from her last album, Giving me life or Caution, which I think are amazing songs.- Thanks!!

One of my favorite songs ever, I have to say. It's just magical.
You bite your tongue, sir! I LOVE the atmosphere that the birds and record scratch bring to this track. The fact that the album is named “Butterfly”, the descriptive lyrics, and the mentioned audio effects transport me to some kind of mountaintop/rainforest cabin on a warm summer night just after rainfall (obv on the 4th of July). Loving your content man! Thanks!

It's not Water and Mariah, It's MARIAH and Walter, she's the one who comes with the melodies and Walter brings them to life, but Mariah still the genius on her music not Walter, allegedly there are some interview somebody speaking that Walter sometimes were credited on her songs and he did "nothing" (AIWFCIY). So, praise Mariah before Walter.
Girl calm down, not everyone is a lamb. Additionally, we weren’t in the studio, so whilst Mariah does a lot of conceptual things, she isn’t a classical composer or keyboardist, and I love her dearly but it’s okay for people to have help.
Additionally he’s referring to the mastering of the vocals, and the engineering, which Mariah was NOT doing.
