Lore wise they're from a spooky magic forest planet. So while a Sylvaneth kitbash wouldn't be lore accurate for any space marine, if you had to pick one it would be these guys!
I like making my DA greens lean into blue a little, with the shadow tones being purple and then highlighting closer to yellow. Also Vellajo Exhaust manifold is a great dark metallic with a slightly warmer feel.
Purple sounds fine but I believe well-saturated dark red wash would also work extremely well on the armor. You also had this nuclear themed weapons washed with vibrant colors on top of metallics. That would also look nice imo. Much better than this red plastic look on the box art for sure.
I ran out of the Iron Warriors metallic paint I used for them, or else I would totally consider the nuclear scheme. I do still have Carroburg Crimson, so maybe that will make an appearance 🤔
On my own Dark Angels kill team, I did start with a dark blue almost purple and zenithal'ed a cool forest green overtop. Maybe for plasma doing black gun casings but a red/orange glow for the coils would pop but match the rest of the force? Also in the lore, pre-heresy the Dark Angels came from a forested world where they were inducted from the monster-hunting knighthoods of old. So a Sylvaneth kitbashed army could look really cool!
A lot of the newer Dark Angels art has them with way more brighter green (like GW's warpstone glow) OSL'ed on them, and I think it's a way better fit, as dark green as you say just doesn't stand out at all and looks super boring.
I've made the green troops work b4 dark angels green can come out two ways or 3 dark green turquoise or lighter dark green 😆 it's basically down to how much u apply plus then the highlights can benefit from being white 1st then cover with moot green or even phalanx yellow on top of that also u can put some white on top of the baige 1s

Good to know. Now I really want to try it!

Noted. I'll look out for Exhaust Manifold next time I'm stocking my paints.
Prime the minis with magenda and built your green on that. Also I'd love to have DAs in a similar pattern to the 2nd ed. BA color scheme.

I see that sneaky boss in the background
Not sneaky enough, clearly 🤣
The off-white is the best part of them, it's like aged ivory. It's the green that needs fixing.
Do you think my choice of purple undertones will help fix the green? Or will I make the worst part of the paint scheme worse?

Black guns and red coils would be interesting. I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks for the suggestion 🙏

yeah their color scheme is ok.
I do respect it for being unique.
