How to replace the head unit in a MINI R56 / Cooper S Tutorial

- So here's a guide / tutorial on how to replace the head unit / CD player on a MINI R56. Firstly, I have to inform you that you cannot upgrade the head unit to one with a satnav, or bluetooth etc, if it didn't already have those features.
You would need a new antenna that goes with the head unit, and to have the entire vehicle programmed by BMW.

Hey there thanks for the vid. I'm looking to replace the radio in my 2009. I have navigation screen/joystick option screen just keeps recycling the mini logo. Was thinking about replacing screen but now thinking it's probably the radio and they are separate right?
Hey man have you figured it out? My mini was leaking a bit of water from the mirror and I think some have gotten inside and since then it has been recycling the mini logo too. Would appreciate if you could share your experience with me

Nearly impossible you need new A pillars and to remove all the existing speakers will cost over 1500 euro better off just selling and buying one with that option

the navigation and satellite radio will not work after installing if the unit is not flash. or register just saying

Unfortunately not. You may be able to get one that has Android for the R53. I’m not 100% sure though. Sorry

you can follow this guide to fit a far better aftermarket android headunit which will give you a touchscreen carplay, android auto, satnav, DAB, handsfree etc..
