From a music producer and sound engineer's perspective, the delicate ear candy and production finesse on display here is absolutely INSANE. The mixdown is as close to perfection as it can possibly get for this arrangement. Easily one of my favourites this year!
Not a producer but as a music student who isn't really into pop music, I agree that the mixing really stands out. The swell at 1:25 with the midi drums is incredibly mixed, the chaotic and dirty visceral synths at 2:30 are also examples of unbelievable high-end mixing.
ikr!! the producers pulled out all the stops. as an acosutic song this would have slapped enough but this?? wow... i've had it on repeat for like 24 hours now and its not getting old lol
OMG this production is absolutely transportive. I’m 72 and I felt like I was 20 again. It’s an escape into breathless youth, eroticism, beauty, love, heartbreak, a voice, music and production so transcendent and hypnotic that it erases time. Thank you Lizzy for giving us this perfect artistic expression of all the above. You are a wonder.
Bill, i`m the same age as you and agree with everything you said, i`m pissed off that i`m surrounded by contemporaries who think music died when the Beatles broke up. I actually think there`s never been a better time for music than right now, it`s not all played on mainstream radio or TV but it`s easy to find on You Tube and Spotify etc. Jacob Collier and all the artists he works with, Snarky Puppy and all the Ground Up artists, Beca Stevens, Michelle Willis, Dirty Loops ,Jordon Rakai etc etc so much great stuff, and now i`ve found Lizzie
The vocal performance on this track is unreal. It showcases the very best peaks and valleys of your range, in both dynamic and pitch. 2:38 through 3:00 is a perfect example of how much control is being demonstrated here. What an incredible work of music!
i feel like this is going to be lizzy's big break! I've been obsessed with her music for so long i'm both happy and sad she's been getting more recognition. Can't wait til she tours or has concerts :)
It absolutely is. Been saying it since early last year, now she’s collaborating with Jacob Collier and playing on Jimmy Kimmel next week! Completely deserved, she’s one of the greatest of our times imo :)
So this is one of the BEST songs I have heard in years. I don’t know. Maybe over 10 years. The production, the sound of the guitars, your voice, it is an achievement in song writing and music production. This is way too good.
We could talk about the masterful production, instrumentation and vocals for hours, but the harmony is what’s getting me hooked on this song. The lingering on the major 7th at the end of the vocal phrases is just so delicious and I love the way the progression explodes in the bridge!
THE MIX SOUINDS FUCKING HUUGEEEEEEEE WTF, So much dynamic range, Props to the Mixing and mastering Engineer this sounds AMAZING. 10/10 song. Im a fan now
This song and Doomsday are such an expert mix of Lizzie's songwriting + lyrical craft and Phillip's production + arrangement craft. The intimate vocal, the sonic ear candy, Jacob's harmonies, the turns of phrase... I bust out the good headphones every time I listen to this.
My God, more Collier collabs are on order! So many little embellishments a d his harmony shots in the chorus are amazing. That's how you take a great song up a notch!
The best way for me to describe the texture and aural imagery of 1:00-1:23 is like floating in the euphotic zone of the Indian Ocean-- a warm, and intimate embrace as the surrounding water hugs your figure; content and serene.
Now, this is how new music should sound like! Subtle, creative, artistic, profound! So many wonderful details, almost like a gentle brush behind the ear!
This this this …this song ..the vocals ..the fact that you can hear jacobs voice in the back your voices mix so good together THIS IS INCREDIBLY AMAZING
The production on this track is incredible, deep, rich, spacious with Lizzy's vocals floating on top. It definitely feels Billie+Finneas inspired but I personally like it even better.
Omg the end, are you kidding?! this is genius, the two videos are related!!! Freaking love this song Lizzy. And Jacob's harmonies uuugghhhh!!!!
