I love the touch at 2:28 where you rename it from Tachi to Rocinante I knew there would be a lot of The Expance content in Starfield when I was creating character and saw Naomi's haircut. Can't wait for someone to make a mod with the whole Roci crew as premade character faces. That mod plus this build and it's as good as we'll ever get to the expance videogame adaptation
@@TheCoolCucumberjust came here to say that's what I went with instead. Made him a bounty hunter type neutral character, albeit with a slight edge towards good alignment. Now I'll have build him the "correct" ship.

Yeah, definitely would choose to go with those miniguns that the original has. Now I didn't buy Starfield so I'm not sure what options they have but if possible I would love to install a pair of torpedo launchers and perhaps a railgun as they installed one during season 3 (or was it season 4?). But yeah, I definitely would want some PDCs. 😃
I've been looking for any videos solely on turrets. Can't find any, I only want to know if there is one like the railguns from Stargate for when I make my Prometheus 😂
@@TechJoe1994 I did some checking and noticed that there are several auto turret options as well as a few weapons designated as railguns. So you should be good. 😅

i think this game has everything needed for the modding community to build the entire book series (not just the show) in it. and i cant wait for that to happen

I had given up on it since ships in the Expanse are actually designed like skyscrapers turned on their side so that thrust generates gravity, and Starfield has “grav drives” allowing for a more traditional layout. You found a way to capture the exterior aesthetic and make the interior and functionality work in game. Well done!
@@vijilant you’re absolutely right., and we will probably return to that layout for the Mars missions at some point, especially if we switch to nuclear powered craft that could be under constant acceleration for the entire journey
We had a debate on Reddit on the bet that modding community could solve the issue of the thrust orientation and camera management to try to reproduce that tower building layout. Since the height limit can be unlocked with a simple console line, I’m sure we will get somewhere one day!

that would be awesome by far your build is the best of the Roci's i've seen. Just some slower video with commentary on the parts used and where you can get them. Other creators break the build up into sections and just go over the pieces then show how it all comes together that might be nice. If you want a good example of a tutorial you could watch one of Bardens ones his are great and easy to follow maybe a bit too much info sometimes though lol Also if you used a certain ship as your base first that would be good to know most ppl skip over that. @@CaldenR
Nice build, I made my own Roci partially based on Barden Build's video, with some modifications to make it more practical, but I like how your thrusters look vs the way I did mine which are using some of the more boxy thrusters. I've been trying to figure out how to use the console to mod the range on the rapid fire railgun turrets as they seem to rememble PDC networks the most visually, but 1250 range just isn't enough. so I agree the PBO-300s and the Kev26 Annhilators are the best turrets performance wise considering range and DPS, but visually from an RP perspective they just look like boxes and I'd like to be able to get some of the more ballistic turrets to work at longer ranges.

Rush took it from Don Quixote. It was the name of Quixote's horse. It's Spanish for "workhorse" or "low quality horse". I guess Peart was trying to get across the idea that the narrator of the song was a mad genius who built his own ship out of spare parts (which is the sort of thing that Peart would write about since had a thing for iconoclastic heroes)

Anyone else notice that Bethesda seems to have forgotten to adjust our characters' carrying capacity for each planetary body's particular amount of gravity? 2000 encumberance, for example, shouldn't be a big deal on a moon with 1/6th the gravity of earth.
I could try, the game doesn’t allow to mirror horizontally most of the parts so it would probably be modded, and I would love to stay vanilla on these builds. Maybe at a higher level I will have other parts I will anyway give it a try!

Try to build this Ship, i have already lvl 4 in Ship Building but i dont have all necessary parts in my Shipyard. i dont have the Landing Gear and the Freight Containers. what should i do to have them in my personal Shipyard avaiable? i also go to Deimos Yard and there they have this Parts but back at my Shipyard they are not there. or do i have to build the Ship at Deimas Yard ?
I've added a 3rd slide on imgur.com/a/33FuVzc where I explain the steps. You have to go to three different places. It's possible to go to Neon instead of Dalvik, but I don't recommend it as there are frequent ship duplication bugs when using any NPC (both the technician and the showroom terminal).
I haven't played this game and think its kind of trash that is trying too hard to be too many things and not doing any of them well. That said the ship building looks pretty cool. I love the expanse and glad you can do something like this. Books are great and the show stayed very true to them unlike so many other adaptations that butcher the authors works. Too bad ship combat still looks like garbage.
Sorry, but this is nothing like the Roci. Far too big, and just not right. Some things simply can't be adapted to a game simply because we all love it.
Thanks! To my knowledge there's no "new ship" button and I always found this illogical, but it's so easy to get a ship that it's ok for now. My advice: board or buy a ship that has components and/or the same reactor class as the one you want to build, therefore you will save a lot of money.
Yes! I've changed the position of this one in my next builds (which you can find in this video : ruclips.net/video/VkMbKy66_ds/видео.html). The reason I did it in the beginning was that the missiles go off to the side if you have the hull in front of the launcher ^^
I just found out today that going to level 75 systems when you’re below level 50 can net you some kick ass enemy ships with parts you otherwise wouldn’t have access to without leveling up significantly or investing in starship design. I took an ecliptic ship last night with two supernova 2100 engines on it which are superior to any others I can buy currently. Also it has the two deck Cabot c4 bridge 😊
@@Drake_Ebonheart yes unfortunately you do, I wish it was possible to move parts from one ship you own to another but it isn’t. Basically I find a ship with excellent parts and then rebuild it from the ground up using only those parts I want to keep, if I can afford it.
Yes the more components you can reuse on the salvaged ships the less money you will loose buying stuff. Having a ship with EMP is the smart move to go shopping these big babys!

I forgive the cockpit, because Stroud ones are simply better. But you lose points for not going with mars made Deimos interior habs, especially since they are nearly identical to Stroud versions.

A little late, but no; you cannot build this ship purely at your own outpost. I tried to do so, but ran into missing parts such as the landing gear not being available there.
Hey! You've got blueprints in description with the list of the shipyards, you can also have a lot of parts from your own settlement, and tomorrow there's a full in-depth video which explains everything :)
Max crew is defined by the number of Crew stations on the ship. But the number displays only when you start adding parts that require crew to take care of (in the video it started with the reactor).
The real issue is that there’s no shield tech in the expanse so the pacing of combats and the weapons are different. I would go for a The Expanse modification with no shields on ships, 15km missile range + huge one hit railguns
not exactly the Roci because in the show and books it takes off and lands in vertical position which mean that each deck is built like a multi-story house with the Epstein Drive at the bottom then engineering on top of that and so on. Which makes me wonder why we don't have that type of ship building in Starfield with vertical take off and landing that would be cool plus it could be a low budget option like those are very old first generation space flight ships. As for your build I like it nice job

I was talking about the game engine, since the height limitation can easily be unlocked, the main issue is the direction of the propulsion, and the second one the direction of the flight camera which will then be different that the character’s one. I’m sure modding community will find a way!
Clearly! And some ballistic weapons have cool sound but it’s just not efficient to be full ballistic in this game, you would need at least some lasers to pierce the shields first.

you can build it on your outopst, you will have access to all the building parts of all the shipyards (excluding some unique pieces or the ones you only can get by quest). I built a smaller version, 600 mass three landing gears, but I think I will try this one too, better cargo hauling.
What would you like? I'm honestly curious. Me I would have love more freedom in the setup of the habs, like instead of buying a pre-configured hab, being able to say which station or which feature to put in each side of the room.

The Rocinante is WAAAY thicker than this. There is no slim belly as you did.
It's all bulky and rounded till the tail.
I know she’s not perfect but with modding over the years we will have more angular parts with proper dimensions and shapes and it will be really cool!

The position of the missile launcher bothered me a little, pointing right at your own ship hull.
Yes! I've changed the position of this one in my next builds (which you can find in this video : ruclips.net/video/VkMbKy66_ds/видео.html). The reason I did it in the beginning was that the missiles go off to the side if you have the hull in front of the launcher ^^
If only the game used newtonian physics and allowed you to control all three axis of travel

I just found out today that going to level 75 systems when you’re below level 50 can net you some kick ass enemy ships with parts you otherwise wouldn’t have access to without leveling up significantly or investing in starship design. I took an ecliptic ship last night with two supernova 2100 engines on it which are superior to any others I can buy currently. Also it has the two deck Cabot c4 bridge 😊

how are you using those in other builds? Do you have to use the parts on the same ship that was captured?
@@Drake_Ebonheart yes unfortunately you do, I wish it was possible to move parts from one ship you own to another but it isn’t. Basically I find a ship with excellent parts and then rebuild it from the ground up using only those parts I want to keep, if I can afford it.
Yeah I just went and fetched a 40 power class C reactor to build off of at level 25.
Yes the more components you can reuse on the salvaged ships the less money you will loose buying stuff. Having a ship with EMP is the smart move to go shopping these big babys!

I forgive the cockpit, because Stroud ones are simply better. But you lose points for not going with mars made Deimos interior habs, especially since they are nearly identical to Stroud versions.
It was mostly to make it practical in terms of steps from one shipyard to another. As you said the only difference inside is the floor. But obviously a full Deimos Hab is also very good!
@@CaldenR Still, I expect a Mars built warship, to have as many Mars built parts as possible. It was an oversight.

I've added a 3rd slide on imgur.com/a/33FuVzc where I explain the steps. You have to go to three different places. It's possible to go to Neon instead of Dalvik, but I don't recommend it as there are frequent ship duplication bugs when using any NPC (both the technician and the showroom terminal).
A little late, but no; you cannot build this ship purely at your own outpost. I tried to do so, but ran into missing parts such as the landing gear not being available there.

Hey! You've got blueprints in description with the list of the shipyards, you can also have a lot of parts from your own settlement, and tomorrow there's a full in-depth video which explains everything :)
What did add on that made your max crew increase around the 2 min mark
Max crew is defined by the number of Crew stations on the ship. But the number displays only when you start adding parts that require crew to take care of (in the video it started with the reactor).
Hope they would add PDCs. Used to both attack enemy hull and shoot down missiles 🥹
The real issue is that there’s no shield tech in the expanse so the pacing of combats and the weapons are different. I would go for a The Expanse modification with no shields on ships, 15km missile range + huge one hit railguns

not exactly the Roci because in the show and books it takes off and lands in vertical position which mean that each deck is built like a multi-story house with the Epstein Drive at the bottom then engineering on top of that and so on. Which makes me wonder why we don't have that type of ship building in Starfield with vertical take off and landing that would be cool plus it could be a low budget option like those are very old first generation space flight ships. As for your build I like it nice job
Thanks! Yes that’s a recurring subject, and everyone agree on the fact that modding will be able to do that. Question is: can the engine carry it? We will see!
@@CaldenR according to the expanse lore it can but not sure about Starfield lore though it would be interesting if Starfield had options for ship modules that were vertical in nature
I was talking about the game engine, since the height limitation can easily be unlocked, the main issue is the direction of the propulsion, and the second one the direction of the flight camera which will then be different that the character’s one. I’m sure modding community will find a way!

Clearly! And some ballistic weapons have cool sound but it’s just not efficient to be full ballistic in this game, you would need at least some lasers to pierce the shields first.

What shipyard was this done at as I don't think it was New Atlantis.

you can build it on your outopst, you will have access to all the building parts of all the shipyards (excluding some unique pieces or the ones you only can get by quest).
I built a smaller version, 600 mass three landing gears, but I think I will try this one too, better cargo hauling.
Too bad ships are just a menu to view fast travel points and the occasional dog fight. So much potential wasted
What would you like? I'm honestly curious. Me I would have love more freedom in the setup of the habs, like instead of buying a pre-configured hab, being able to say which station or which feature to put in each side of the room.

With the good equipment and the good level difference yes. But sometimes you have a big pack of high level ships and then it’s real sport!

The Roci was the first this I did in stat field. I used the a different cockpit though. I used the ones with the one with the double story and stairs.

The only thing I'd change is to get some turrets on there to replicate PDCs

@@CaldenR well, if we're keeping to the lore of the books and show, they're certainly a defensive measure and this is an offensive gameplay loop. However....the cool factor wins out for me 😂
