Thank you! I own a 440QE.. from a lady who passed away.. the machine has only 28 total sewing (BSR = 0) time. I just started today trying FMQ .. and because of ur video.. I just used the BSR and practiced (BSR 2 setting). I need to darn my pants to reinforce the inside thigh areas.. I've been practicing on jeans material.. and just doing the regular foot.. doing the back and forth motion. I just used the BSR and did a darning type motion.. and really liked this as a better outcome. I have so much to learn!!!

Thanks for a wonderful video, Margaret! I was trying to figure out if I could use my OLD Virtuosa 150QE for free motion quilting and your demo helped so much!

You can actually use the BSR on a 440 as well. :-)

Buying a Bernina machine, you need to choose a good dealer first!

Hi would any of those feet fit on to a Bernina 530-2 record?

I don't think I knew there was a 530-2 record. I believe all the record machines from the 80's require a legacy foot.

I’ve got a B530 and when I practiced with the BSR last night using a 90/14 needle and Aurifil I got loops on the backing. My bobbin case tension is fine and it happens no matter how slowly I quilt. Is there anything else I should try? My upper thread tension is set to 5 and I’m unsure if I should change it.

One tip is to break up your quilting in 1/4's. Quilt the right top center to the right edge then go from the center to the left edge. Then work the right and left bottom. I hope that helps. But you could consider quilting twin or smaller and have someone quilt your bigger pieces. Quilting really big pieces is difficult good for you trying.

Hi I did my very first ever quilt in three long strips and quilted the, then used contrast fabric with batting in between and connected the strip and then quilts these strips. All on my trusty 1962 Bernina 530-2 Record. No walking foot so all free motion, in trial and error, trying out yes no errors, and all that was a first ever, Since the I’ve done one t-shirt quilt and dice “I SPY “ quilts, all on my lovely Bernina 539-2= Tecord, Cant fault that machine at all.
