In Season Eight of Smallville there was an episode titled Legion which was written by DC Comic writer Geoff Johns and about the comic characters the Legion of Superheroes (a team from the future who come back in time and make friends with Clark). In this video I give a plot description of the episode, go over some Easter Eggs, and give my review.

You're talking about the actor Calum Worthy who played Garth / Lightning Lad? I saw him on one episode of R.L. Stine's TV show The Haunting Hour. The episode was called "Game Over."
Also, many years ago when he was a little kid, he was in one episode of a TV show I really liked a lot called "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction."

I did like the depiction of the Legion in this episode. One bit of trivia: in the original comics, Saturn Girl communicated exclusively telepathically since she and the other natives of Titan (one of Saturn's moons) were born mute. No vocal cords. As far as I can tell, giving Imra a voice was the only creative liberty that Smallville took with the character. 😎👍
It's crazy to see they pulled of better versions of the hero's in a live action show and they look so well done and not over the top like the hero movies of today are
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I'd be curious if you could be more specific about who you're comparing them to.

The approach they did on the LEGION was great!!
And is still after almost a decade the first and only live action version of the characters we have so far(as for so many DC characters...so thanks again SMALLVILLE)....
The idea of turning BRAINIAC TO BRAINY 5.0
is brilliant and make sense.
The fact that they didn't have heard about C.SULLIVAN is a smart reference to the differences with the canon(If you ask me I would say that it would be a good idea for a fan fiction that Chloe becomes
WONDER WOMAN by being possessed by Prince Diana's Spirit...the same way Lois Lane was ISIS insteard of Andrea Thomas...and yes I know that in season10 Chloid herself mentioned an Amazon and a Millionare and in SMALLVILLE S11 comics both Batman and WW exist,but it was only in comic and I don't like those versions and in the show the part of Clark Kent's SUPERFRIENDS was played by Ollie and C.S. and even her mother was Lin Carter!!
...of course by the same logic I would say that it would be a good explanation that Oliver Queen has to fake his own dead after an attempt against his life and as everyone knew his secret identity he moves to Gotham City and became Bruce Wayne(a false identity created by CHLOID)BATMAN....hey it would tight all the mythology together and dreaming has no cost😉)

I actually completely agree with you mate. Best portrayal of Superman because I remember watching it as a kid and thinking, he can't let Chloe die! That's not him. He's gonna make a damn third option 😊

I saw this episode when it came out.Loved it.Ranks up there with the JSA 2-parter in my opinion.If i recall correctly,the girl playing Imra was a singer in real life who sometimes acted.

Same. Alexz Johnson would be favorite portrayal of Imra. Would have loved a spinoff with her.
They mention the No Flights, No Tights for the legion ring, which was a reference to how Clark would never do either in the TV series. This episode was really fun and I really enjoyed how they were able to bring the legion in and make everything understandable and want to see more of their world. The costumes were simplified but they really fit with the Smallville style of uniforms of Bart Allen and Cyborg and Clark's second Blur uniform.
I think Tom Welling does a better job as Cain in Lucifer I believe he has grown as an actor

Great analysis. I agree completely. This was my favorite episode of the series. I grew up reading Superboy and Legion of Super Heroes comic, so seeing my favorite team and my fav Legionaire (Rokk) done so well was a blast. It was like seeing a Superboy issue come to life; the chemistry and Clark's moral compass being even clearer than theres. And one of the best if their villains done so well. Lightning Lad's personality was pretty different from his personality from my time, but was so well done that I still enjoyed it. I remember hoping they were setting up a backdoor pilot for a new LSH show, but sadly that wasn't the case. I think they could've been a hit. Extra note: my second favorite Legionaire was always the original Invisible Kid, so who knows maybe he was there too, lol
haha, I love your comment about the Invisible Kid, Ivan! Yeah, I totally would have liked to have watched a spinoff about the Legion. I even would have loved to watch a Supergirl & the Legion spinoff (even if we never actually saw those characters meet)... Hey, if the worst criticism we think of about this episode was "there wasn't a spinoff with more of these characters" then you know the episode was pretty darn good!
Another reason they might not know who Chloe is, they might only know her as Watchtower.
Good point! I can't imagine that's what Geoff Johns was thinking when he wrote the episode, but it actually makes a lot of sense! It's like accidental brilliance!
I love the legion of Superheroes... I wis they kept Saturn Girl blond...in Supergirl.
I overall like the new Supergirl show. But I will say that the Saturn Girl character there is pretty different than Saturn Girl of the comics. And I'm not just talking about hair color.

I don't know what the producers reasons were.
If you ask me, her having the wrong power was a way bigger offense than having the wrong hair color.

I also can remember a LSH scenario, where there's a "Null Sphere Bomb" (or something like that) & the 4 "indestructible" legionnaires (Wildfire? Ultra Boy, Monel, & Superboy) surrounded it to prevent its devastating effects on the star system they were in.

(& A fun aside: the Legion was at its most powerful when they had Monel, S/boy & S/girl working together to provide some serious muscle.)
Too bad you didn't say it was Lana who persuaded Clark of the 3rd option.
also that the legion credits Lana: "Lana, you are the part of the reason Kal-El becomes the hero we look up to....
Lana if Brainiac survives, billions will die, i came to you because you understand sacrifice more than anyone, you sacrifice so much for Clark..."

Booster Gold was only in one episode of Smallville.
CW keeps teasing Legion in Arrowverise off and on but so far do nothing with it.
The Legion will be appearing in Supergirl's 10th episode this season. I know the roles of Saturn Girl and Brainiac 5 have already been cast.

I’ve always thought season 8 was the weakest season of Smallville, but the episode with Legion of Superheroes is a bright spot in that season. Season 9 is the next worse season.
I'd have to disagree. I thought Season 8 was overall a good Season.

Excellent review and i especially agree with you about what makes Superman unique. It isn't his powers, it's how he was brought up. He had a great tragedy - his birth world and family killed on Krypton - but he was raised by the Kents, who taught him how to be a man, to recognize and do the right thing no matter what the costs. That is the essence of the TV show Smallville and the first act of the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeves. Everything got turned on its head in Man of Steel. Johnathan Kent would never have told Clark that allowing children to drown in the bus is an option. That Clark was so brain washed that he couldn't even save his own father just to preserve his secret. That's not my Superman and the reason why Man of Steel was a failure for comic book fans. Sure, it made money and plenty of people got off on all the destruction and violence. I'd much rather have the Superman in Superman Returns who does not throw even one punch than Zack Synder's confused Superman.

@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Yea man. If you can afford it then get a cheap mic it will improve the audio a lot. And use the default 16:9 aspect ratio rather than this box one. If you can't get a mic then just reduce the overall volume of the videos. Otherwise your content is really good and these tweaks can improve your overall quality
