And I don't buy the argument that she lived more years on Krypton which made her stronger, because the Kryptonian physiology is determined at birth but the power they possess is determined by Earth's sun and not the years spent on Krypton. Since Superman lived more years soaking up and growing up on earth under our sun you could argue that would make him even stronger than any Kryptonian arriving on Earth after him. Yes I agree, bad writing!
Yeah they took it from the whole “She absorbs sunlight better than you” thing from the comics. But what they missed is that, yeah, while she absorbs sunlight better, it also means she doesn’t RETAIN it as good. She also doesn’t restrain herself as much as Superman, giving her the illusion that she’s stronger and faster. Supergirl even tried to say that to Superman one time, and he flat out knocked her ass to the ground with one punch, stating that he holds back a lot all the time. She absorbs sunlight better, but she also uses her powers more than Superman and her body doesn’t hold onto that much energy for as long as Superman. This show sucked for ignoring all of this.
Superman can say he isn’t holding back, but he is. Clark Kent, fundamentally, will always hold back because he’s not a killer. There’s too much human in him, not to mention that while brainwashed, he’s fighting that on a deeper level. His head isn’t entirely in the outside fight. Furthermore, Kara Zor-El was initially stronger than Superman in the comics. They made Superman stronger than her as a ret-con, but the original intent was that her time on Krypton made her, generally, a better fighter. Where Superman bested her was everything about being human. His compassion, his warmth, his pure selflessness. Simply put, Superman deep down will always be the farm boy the Kents raised. Supergirl will always be the soldier she was on track to be on Krypton.
Jesus, this fight is bad, really, really, bad. Canonically, Superman is stronger than Supergirl because a) he grew up on earth and stored more solar energy and b) is a larger man. Also, the studio should have sent the Supergirl actress to boxing lessons because it looked like her arms were floppy and had zero idea how to actually punch.
Every time I hear this argument about growing on Earth and storing more energy I feel embarrassed for Superman who isn't able to toss around Zod who has less than an hour under the same sun. I think diminishing returns on that storing solar energy hit HARD after initial exposure. That is why when Kryptonians get depleted or heavy injured, it usually takes them a few moments to "recharge".

Do you think an overly muscled normal like Fisk would cause someone that strong any trouble? This fight was the equivalent of an over 6 foot heavily muscled athlete getting his ass handed to him by an untrained office temp. She wasn't even holding her fists correct, you punch anyone like she did. You'd at least sprain them, that's why I nitpicked it, she was fighting like a 12 year old girl.
