Hi Jarrel. Well, I didn't give any honorable mentions at all here, just my top 10... But I'll say I agree Transference was a really good episode... Reckoning, I personally did not like. I could give you a longer explanation for what I disliked about it, if you wish... Crimson might have been well done in it's own way, but I never really enjoyed the stories about Lana and Lex getting married... This is all just my personal opinion.
Joe likes movies n stuff Yea I knew it was just the top 10. I watched the entire video. Haha. But I am curious as to your reason to not liking Reckoning. As it is considered a HUGE high point for the series I have heard that the mass majority enjoyed the episode. I would also like to hear your reasoning for not caring for the finale. Was it because we didn’t see Tom in the suit? Was there certain things that didn’t make sense to you? Also do you personally feel that there were somewhat of tonal shifts between seasons such as 1-4, 5-7, 8-10? Would love to hear a response.
hi Jarrel. I'm happy to answer your questions, but keep in mind it's only my opinion... I'm going to give you a separate post for each topic. What did I not like about Reckoning? I felt the writing was poor. First off, it was way too much of a stretch to say that Jor-el could just make the whole planet Earth go back in time. He was already dead! If dead Kryptonians could do things like that, then there's just no way they'd be extinct in the first place... Also, Clark said Lana died because she knew his secret. But it had nothing to do with knowing Clark's secret, it just was because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time... They made it seem like Clark was responsible for Jonathan dying. But he would have died anyway. I don't see why anything would have been any different... Reckoning was the show's 100th episode, therefore presented as a special. But it did not live up to expectations for me. However, Homecoming was the show's 200th episode, and also presented as a special - and as you saw in this video, I loved it.
hi Jarrel. Why did I not like the Series Finale? Honestly, more reasons than I could count. But I'll list a few: To this day, I still don't understand the idea of Chloe reading this as a comic story to her son... I found all the romance between Clark and Lois to be weak. I thought the first half of the episode was very slow moving. I thought it was ridiculous that Clark did not wear glasses to his own wedding (after already establishing that the glasses would be his disguise)... When the action started, I thought it was lame that we only saw Lionel possessed by Darkseid (never actually seeing Darkseid himself). Then the fight of Clark vs. Darkseid only lasted about two seconds... I did not care for the flashback montages... I thought it was very lazy writing to give Lex a mind wipe. After ten years of watching this character development between Clark and Lex, it all just went out the window. And they did this the very next episode after explaining that Toyman and his friends all knew Clark's secret - it was Lex (who had all the character development with Clark) that wouldn't know anything... After the whole episode of Clark just thinking "hmmm... how am I going to save the planet from the darkness?" all he had to do was gently push it for about three seconds... And yes, I hated how Tom Welling refused to put on the suit. The character had already become Superman in every way except the wearing the suit. All we were waiting for was to see him put on the suit. But we couldn't see that, all because the actor refused... Look, different people might have seen the episode differently. But if you ask me what I saw, I will be honest and tell you.
Did I see tonal shifts between seasons 1-4, 5-7, 8-10? Yes, I did see tonal shifts in seasons, but not those... I thought Season 1 & 2 really captured the same tone, but it was Season 3 that took a real turn. The special effects really went up, but the writers seemed treat things different - like they were creating their own original story, and do less to simply tell the story of how Clark becomes Superman. Season 4 tried to return to the tone of Season 1 & 2, but it didn't really work out that way... Season 6 clearly stared a new tone with showing heroes in suits... Season 8's new producers started a new tone... I don't know, Jarrel. You asked a good question, but I thought each season had some good episodes and some bad ones, so I feel like I'm having a tough time giving you a good answer for this one.
Hey, I just subscribed to your channel. Superman has always been my favorite superhero. I just caught your top ten episodes of smallville. Gonna have to go watch that again.
Thanks so much, Kat. I'm happy to have you as a subscriber. Please feel free to leave more comments on this, or any of my other videos. I'm always happy to have discussions with other fans.
Great list Joe. Some episodes I would have included or given honorable mentions would be season 's Lara where we see Kara and Lara at the Kent farm before Krypton's destruction, Where we see Kara declare she will be there to protect Clark and how she gave him his birth name of Kal-El so that he could remember them. The second one would be the Supergirl episode of season 10. Where Kara officially became Supergirl, also attempted to teach Clark to fly and continued her original mission of protecting him. It was a neat sight seeing her House of El bracelet deflecting Darkseid.
I definitely enjoyed the Lara episode as well. If I gave honorable mentions, I probably would have included it... But Supergirl? It wasn't a bad episode, but I did not love it as much as you seemed to, being honest.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff , man reading the comments. Wow everyone is telling you their list. Lol. I guess they missed that this was your list and picks. Lol. Sorry i had to say this. Cant make everyone happy.
Joe likes movies n stuff some good choice the Ryan episode are a interesting choice I would have had crusade and commencement on there personally and honourable mention goes to Bizzaro
@KURSEDSOULS666 Commencement is pretty high on my list. I'd rank it somewhere between 10 and 15 (not bad for a show with 217 episodes). Personally, I'm not sure if Crusade would be that high on my list... Memoria ranks very high for me, and I regret not being able to fit it here. Same goes for Hourglass... As for Bizarro, in all honesty, I personally liked the following episode (Kara) better.
Ty for the Smallville videos. Amazing job and I hope you do ones on movies like Friday The 13th Part III as well like you talked about in the ending of the video,
Great list. The pilot really got me hooked as well. Lois was a great addition as well. I think I enjoyed first 5 seasons more than 5 last seasons . Thanks. Great review.
Thanks, Frank. I'd say, overall, the first two seasons were my favorites. But then the show went in all different kinds of directions, and did have some truly great episodes here and there.
The episode called “Labyrinth” is my favorite episode. It’s an episode about what if Clark didn’t have any powers and he was just creating a fantasy where he did have powers.
Sure, I remember that one! It was great. It was the first episode in which we saw Phil Morris as the Martian Manhunter. It had great continuity with so many references to past episodes.
Okay pretty solid list. While I can't say the pilot was the first episode I saw that honor would have to go to s1ep5 where the kid fell in the lake and started absorbing heat well I thought this could be interesting. Some of my favorites would be in no particular order. Hug, Nicodemus, devoted, Truth ( S3 episode where Chole becomes walking Truth serum, Devoted, Season 5 episodes where Lois Lane goes undercover in a Strip Club, the tribute episode to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the episode Hypnotic where Clark gets Hypnotised to name a few
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I don't remember the name of the episode but season 5 centers around a group of sority girls who some how got a dieses from Vampire bats I think the head sority girls name was Muffy I think and they wind up turning Lana she bites Clark gets his heat vision and torches Muffy with it.
As I'm rewatching Season 1 for the first time in a long time, i think Season 1 as a whole is extremely underrated. It definitely was heavily influenced by Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but i think Smallville did the freak of the week episodes so much better, and Season 1 was really impressive, especially with some of the early casting they were able to pull off. Lizzy Caplan, Amy Adams, Dan Lauria, Tony Todd, and Adam Brody, just to name a few. Also, some were more challenging for Clark than i initially realized. Tina and Sean back to back were two of the most evil for sure. I dont know how a single episode from Season 3 keeps missing peoples top 10. Season 3 is the best overall season of Smallville, in my opinion. That season truly changed everything and took the show to new heights. The character development for each character was amazing, and Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Welling, John Glover, John Schneider, Alison Mack, Kristin Kreuk, and Annette O'Toole all gave series best performances. Everyone was just at the top of their game. Episodes 1, 22, 8, and 19 will always make my top episodes list. Also, Season 4 episodes 1 and 17 I have to rewatch more, but there's definitely others not mentioned.
Hi Captain Beastwinger. Thanks for the compliments, I'm really glad you liked the video... You've suggested an interesting idea to me, but it seems kind of hard to do since every season had some good episodes and some bad episodes.
@@captainbeastwinger4940 I thought the earlier seasons had more of an idea - telling the story of young Clark before becoming Superman. By the later seasons, they were just dragging things out - and the guests became the highlight. Still, the later seasons sure did have some great episodes... Do you think that sounds like an interesting idea for a video for me to talk about?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff oh yeah im Loving the idea and i agree if you decide to make this video all i ask is a shout out like you did For that Guy at the begining of this video
I'll definitely check out your non comic book videos. Having said that, could you talk about Daredevil's appearance in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk tv movie?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I remember your video the The Return of the Incredible Hulk film and I quite enjoyed it. That's a big reason why I'm hoping you'll cover the Trial film. That and Daredevil is my favorite superhero lol.
It might be fun if you ranked the team-up episodes. Just an idea. I always liked the episodes where Clark and Oliver do superhero missions together. The JSA episodes would probably have to be at the top but still. I always enjoyed the horror-themed episodes. I guess episode two would be the first real horror story. I remember the zombie episode, the vampire episode, the ghost episode, the werewolf episode, etc. Those are fun
You're suggesting two separate videos (one on the team-up episodes, another on the horror episodes) correct? I think the horror video sounds a lot more feasible. But as for team-up episodes, I don't know which do and don't count. There was only one episode when the saw the entire JLA team in full (it's then full team, I should say). Which episodes when we saw fragment JLA teams would you count? Should I count every episode when we just saw Clark and Oliver? It seems like this gets tricky.
Unpopular opinion - I've always enjoyed part 2 of the finale. The scene where Clark's Dad gives him the suit, and he flies off to save Lois still gives me chills. I like most of season 10 for that matter. Because I knew of the history of the people who played superman, I never had a problem with Tom Welling not wanting to wear the suit. Of course I would have liked to see him in the suit like everyone else, but I thought his portrayal of Clark Kent through all 10 seasons was so well done I ultimately wasn't that pissed off.
Well, I can always change my mind. But if you want to know my favorites at this moment in time, I would say: 1. "Pilot" 2. "Ryan" 3. "Memoria" 4. "Unsafe" 5. "Arrival" 6. either "Justice" or "Labyrinth" 7. "Kara" 8. "Legion" 9. "Absolute Justice" 10. "Homecoming"
Hi Michael. Well, honestly, I think Arrow was a "Batman style" show. But if the same producers of Smallville did a show about young Bruce Wayne, I think they would have made Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle the same age, and focused largely on some on and off romance between those two.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff well, Gotham did that but they were teenagers in that show. Still, a show where Batman fought crime alongside his sidekick Robin and had a relationship between him and Catwoman would be something that I would have like to have seen plus if they got permission to use characters like Joker and the other villains from Batman’s rogues gallery people would be invested
Hi Henry. Thanks. I should do a video with my updated thoughts on Cobra Kai. After seeing the first few episodes, I posted a video saying it was awful. But then I watched more, and I have to say it's really not awful. But as someone who loves the first Karate Kid Kid movie as much as I do, I have a hard time really getting into this show the same way a lot of other people have. hi Jaden. I agree Jeremy was a great villain for the pilot. It's my personal speculation that the producers wanted to bring him back for the 200th episode, but the actor was unavailable, so they got Bug Boy - who was in the 2nd episode - to return... Would Jeremy have made a good villain for the comics? To be honest, I hadn't thought of that before. But now that you say it, I'd sure be curious to read such a comic book.
Hi Micah. Someone requested that before. It's a good idea, but I think it'd be more difficult for me to make than it seems. Each season had good episodes and bad episodes.

How could you have a top ten Smallville episodes list without any Lex and Lionel-centric episodes? The contrast between the Kents and the Luthors was literally the thing that made the show so compelling. Yeah, the superhero stuff is cool and all but it was never what made the show great. Without the Luthors, the show would be pretty forgettable. I stopped watching after season 7 since Jonathan, Martha, Lionel, and Lex had all left. We’ve seen the Superman story a thousand times, what made this show special was the juxtaposition of Clark and Lex’s upbringings. I like the rest of the cast too, but they weren’t enough to make the show interesting. In my mind, there was no point to the show once Lex left. Once Michael Rosenbaum wanted to leave, they should’ve just made season 7 the last season (and completely rework the plot since that season was a jumbled mess).
The actor who played Lex was AMAZING... He's a part of many of these episodes I listed (but not all)... It's only my personal opinion, but I still stand by this list as my personal top ten favorite episodes.

Season 8's new producers started a new tone... I don't know, Jarrel. You asked a good question, but I thought each season had some good episodes and some bad ones, so I feel like I'm having a tough time giving you a good answer for this one.

@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Makes sense. Still I think the Supergirl episode had some great moments overall.

Thanks! Which was the tribute episode to Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Are you talking about Slumber, which was written by one of Buffy's main writers?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I don't remember the name of the episode but season 5 centers around a group of sority girls who some how got a dieses from Vampire bats I think the head sority girls name was Muffy I think and they wind up turning Lana she bites Clark gets his heat vision and torches Muffy with it.
@@robertgosney7942 oh, you're talking about Thirst.
Also, Season 4 episodes 1 and 17
I have to rewatch more, but there's definitely others not mentioned.
For me personally, the "freak of the week" was not my favorite part of season 1.
Loved the video but could you do a ranking of the seasons of smallville but
Hi Captain Beastwinger. Thanks for the compliments, I'm really glad you liked the video... You've suggested an interesting idea to me, but it seems kind of hard to do since every season had some good episodes and some bad episodes.
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff yeah but as a whole You know i Mean which seasons You Prefer over the others do it that way
@@captainbeastwinger4940 I thought the earlier seasons had more of an idea - telling the story of young Clark before becoming Superman.

@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I just didn't have much expectations. It was a fun tribute to the character of Superman, it just didn't do Darkseid well
How could you have a top ten Smallville episodes list without any Lex and Lionel-centric episodes?
