Yepper! I always tell people that i was watching SCTV back when it was Dave Thomas as the Beaver. It was part of my Friday night routine :) Great memories!
Thanks for putting this up, but if there is anybody out there who has a more complete better looking print, please put it up. It seems to be extremely rare.
@writerpatrick This is an intro from a US airing of season 1 (judging by some of the graphics I think it was the second series of 13). There's a glimpse of a Canadian season 1 opening on one of the bonus features on the DVD set and I think that line is there, with a slightly different intro and Flaherty still credited as "Joseph O'Flaherty"
How many episodes was Flaherty credited under that longer moniker, besides the premiere and what immediately followed? But this is indeed the second half of the first season; it was with that set that the "SCTV News" set was revamped. Floyd and Earl looked like they did within Episodes 16-20.
It's a shame Shout Factory seems uninterested in releasing the early shows in their entirety. As great as future casts were, I missed Harold Ramis who unfortunately left early to go Hollywood. He always had a mischievous gleam in his eye.
"SCTV" is a landmine in terms of any potential DVD release. When they did these shows, they used any and every piece of copyrighted music to accompany some sketches that would raise all sorts of red flags in terms of clearances and all that. You could almost say in that sense, "SCTV" was elaborate street art.
I've said it many times before, "I miss SCTV!!"
Way better than SNL, in my opinion.
I remember Dave Thomas as the Beaver, hehhehe
I never knew Harold Ramis was on this show.
The greatest opening music of all time.
Spike Jones
The funniest series ever put on television.
Man, every single person in that opening went on to have major careers.
This is missing the beginning. It starts with "Don't touch that dial, don't touch that other dial and stop touching yourself!"
This is the opening I remember the most...at its funniest..! "..And Dave Thomas as the Beaver.."
Yep. Good times..!

My God, Dave Thomas looks like "Chucky" in that shot at the end!

"and Dave Thomas ...as the Beaver". Yup....

This has to be the best theme of SCTV. Even if it was done by a 1949 Spike Jones tune.
+Tmetrvlr ESPECIALLY since it was done by a 1949 Spike Jones tune!
It was by far the best. I thought it sounded like Spike Jones but I never knew it actually WAS Spike Jones
Now Ramis is together with his Stripes co-star Candy. RIP.
R.I.P Harold Ramis
Wahh para jaman old
