This recipe was so easy and delicious! I made my own applesauce by processing a few old apples in my food processor and added a little sugar and cinnamon. Used coconut oil for the oil and ended up having to use a 9 inch glass pie pan instead of an 8 inch square but it still turned out beautifully. Probably could have used a few more minutes in the oven as it came out a little moist and it seemed to be undercooked a little but the texture was a lot better after the cake was completely cooled. SO GOOD and simple! Thank you Manjula! Can't wait to try some more of your recipes!
This is so nice. No over the top intro, music etc. Simple straightforward instructions. Felt like watching someone from my own family teaching how to cook. Thank you.
Dear Manjula I love you. You are such a good cook, and you are adorably authentic. (I also liked you with your beautyful saris you used to ware). You give concise and reliable information and you take away any feeling of stress one might experience, when cooking new dishes. So far I have always succeeded with your meals. Thank you and greetings from Switzerland.
Getting ready to make this, thanks so much!! Update: I make it a couple weeks ago, and LOVED it!! I only had self rising flour, so I cut out the salt and baking soda. I also had to cook it about 15 extra minutes, but my stove door is a tad warped (about 1/16 of an inch open gap). It was softer on the inside than this one, but I loved it as it turned out SO much. I'd love it either way. I'm off to make it again now. Be Well, Amanda Heath & Debbie
Great recipe! Also, it is easy to make homemade applesauce, which tastes better than the jarred stuff imo. All you need are peeled apples, butter/coconut oil/avocado oil (my preference is coconut/avocado oil), sugar, agave or honey, and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, etc). Let it break down in a pot and voila!
I made this and it had really great flavor. But, I had to cook it for a while longer and next time I think I'll add 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder OR 1/4 cup extra of flour.
excellent! thank you so much for posting this. Yesterday, I was just thinking about making an apple cake of some sort and here you post this video! So neat. Thank you again.
namaste Manjula bhen...i love your recipe; is so easy and fast. i love it. i am half indian but was educated like latin but i try to teach to my daughter Indian Traditions. She loves you too. Regards from panama
Dear Manjula, lovely and charming way of introducing us to your recipes. I'm ignorant as to the Metric equivalents to your " cups and half cups ". Could you point me out in the right direction, please. Thank you in advance.
Is it necessary to add baking soda instead of baking powder? Because the cake's flavour is very acidulous after adding baking soda. What if I add baking powder instead baking soda? Will the cake be swell and soft?
Good afternoon... can this be made with almond flour? Or a mixture of almond and coconut flour... I need it as low carb as I can get it.. Thank you much..
Also, make sure you buy real vanilla extract and not the imitation vanilla extract. The pure vanilla extract (the real stuff) is more expensive, but it has a better flavour.
Thank you mam for your reply.I just wanted to know that I have Samsung convection microwave so for preparing cake am I suppose to use convection mode or I should use microwave mode ?
If you're using convection mode, you need to lower the temperature slightly. Bake the cake at 325 convection. 350 convection is too hot. I bake my cakes at 300 convection. Muffins and cookies at 325 convection. It depends on your oven. If you have a regular oven without the convection mode, they you would bake at 350 as Manjula suggests.
No, you need applesauce. If you used pureed apples, it wouldn't turn out the same. You need to cook the apples. Look up how to make applesauce. It's easy! Use unsweetened applesauce in the recipe.
There's a big difference between corn starch and corn flour. . What you have is corn starch ...as it's white in colour and doesn't possess that raw corn smell like corn flour.. I don't have it 😳.. i have corn flour😩😟
Mine came out like rubber. It didn’t flow, was more like a batter than a cake mixture. Like I’d missed an Ingredient! But i don’t think I did. Very disappointed.
This is exactly how mine turned out. It was as if an ingredient was missing. It wasn’t. Looked raw and I cooked it for much longer. Horribly disappointing.

how to make apple sauce
Hi , how do I make apple sauce, thanks
you can buy ready made
vanilla essence and vanilla extract. both r same?
no, extract is much stronger and should have real vanilla whereas vanilla essence is basically just a little bit of essential oil :)
Also, make sure you buy real vanilla extract and not the imitation vanilla extract. The pure vanilla extract (the real stuff) is more expensive, but it has a better flavour.
at what temperature we are suppose to bake it
350 degree Fahrenheit or 175 Celsius

Melanin_Supreme Definitely go with unsweetened, the recipe calls for 3/4 cup sugar and that's more than enough
Beautiful 💕🙏
