It's not a 50% pay cut. He was overpaid, and now slightly discounted.
@@samy467 I agree with you're assessment in the second sentence on relative value of the player.
I think the original commenter meant "pay cut" not in the sense of the relative value of a quality defensemen, but rather in the sense that if you or I went from making $100/day to $50/day that would be a %50 pay cut.
Like from Myers' perspective he just went from 6ish million to 3ish million a year. Like a %50 reduction in his compensation. Like his pay had been chopped in half. And yet, he's looking chipper and happy - almost glowing, even.
@@joelsteve94 because he knows he was overpaid for his cobtribution over the last 5 years and he's on the tail end of his career.
I'm also really happy to have him back. We always knew he's better than we had seen. Real good coaching finally brought it out and it's great to see. Giant right handed defenseman who takes a pay cut to stay with your team. What more could you ask for?

Myers played his best further down the depth chart, and was successful under our coaching staff. He's part of the solution. He brought it last year. Looking forward to next few... who knows? 🏆?

Great to have him back. I think because of his height the defensive gaffes he makes are magnified making them stand out more than a player of average NHL size. It's like having a permanent TikTok video filter on your highlights that you can't turn off.

Well this time he didnt give away the puck, but he helped give away zadorov not taking 1.5 hometown discount.
I’m gonna be salty for a long time that we lost Z. He’s probably our 3rd best defence man. We literally JUST GOT HIM. Like fuck. We fucking better get Guenztel after letting Lindholm and Zadarov walk otherwise our team will be legit weaker.
Zadorov wanted over 6. We would have had to of lost Myers, Joshua, Blueger and not of been able to sign a top 6 winger. He wasn’t worth it sadly.

I’m not really happy with this because he might say a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, but in the end he hasn’t really played really all that good apart from maybe this season was maybe his best overall performance ever. But still with the constant terrible defending, he had this season and the amount of otter dumb penalties he takes and it just can’t happen anymore. for three years I expect this not to happen anymore. I’d rather have big Z over Myers because big Z actually helped Myers just caused issues and problems for us. In the end of the day, I think the reason why they chose to resign Myers was because Myers wasn’t asking for a huge amount and big Z was asking for a big bag.
hes definitely had better seasons and can be better lol he won the calder so he can and hopefully will be better, the only reason we see all his mistakes compared to other defenseman is because hes so tall and stands out hes no worse than any other average nhl defenseman
@@Fatal._. his height doesn’t matter the problem is he makes so many dumb mistakes. Tell me how many pennies he’s taken that could’ve been dealt differently. Dances problem he just can’t play a single game without taking more than one penalty. Just look at his stats ever since he went to the Canucks. He’s literally had more penalties and his whole career over here than with Winnipeg.
@@Fatal._. also how many he could’ve made smarter plays but he ended up just screwing it all up and giving away the puck or over skating the puck. I’m not the only one that has this same issue with him. Also, the guy that makes Canucks videos on TikTok Canucks videos also says the same thing and most Canucks media feel the same way, but some just don’t wanna say it, but they feel the same way
