Had my Odin 2 pro for a lil over a month now (hard to believe it's been that long) and I love it more the more I use it. It's not even fully set up like I'd like it to be, but that's kind of the fun. there's always something to tweak, something to organize, etc... you really get to make it your own. I've got a 1.5 TB sd card with all of my retro games and even some video media like shows and movies. It's becoming my all-in-one / mobile gaming device it's easy enough to carry in a small sling bag with some extra controllers, earphones, chargers, and dongles, so I'm always ready to turn it into a console and play with friends I waited til the first sneak peaks were out about the Odin 2 Mini, and decided I still wanted the original model for the form-factor and battery. I think the Mini is really cool, but I don't need it, and don't feel like I'm missing out
How did you get 1.5 tb of retro games, that's crazy. I just got mine a few weeks ago and am also setting it up too but a lot to learn. Any advice is appreciated and hope you are doing well. Glad you are loving it.
@darth_dunedain106 it's not so bad. It's overwhelming at first, but the cool thing is you can do it bit-by-bit. So for example, one of the first things I did was install Ship of Harkinian, which is an ocarina of time port for android. Runs amazingly, uses barely any battery, etc. Point is, you don't have to have it perfect all-at-once. Each step you do can be enjoyed separately. Try installing an emulator, booting up some roms, get some confidence. Rinse, repeat, find a front-end if you want to use one, and enjoy it at your own pace
@@darth_dunedain106 setup isn't hard but time consuming, for example for PS1 games you want to use a program called PSX2PSP that can bind up to 5 CDs together. Though to do that you will need them in the .bin format and they have to be single tracks, there are often PS1 games that come with several bin files, so you have to mount them with deamon tools, then burn a single bin file from that virtual drive with for example IMGBurn. Only then you can bind them together, so you don't have two dozen files for a single PS1 game.
Since I've got my Odin 2 I've been going down alot of rabbit holes of source ports and homebrewed android ports and my only gripe is the controller support. This is absolutely not a problem with the Odin but with the operating system. I also have a Steam Deck however and I still use the Odin more simply because of comfort, size and battery life.
I got an Odin 2 Pro recently a few weeks ago and I am still setting it up. A lot to learn for emulation. Also installed fortnite on it, doesn't run amazing but it plays lol. I wanted the extra ram thats why i did the pro.

@@chrstnrmds4599 it’s definitely worth it! Haven’t put the thing down since I got it! Only thing is setting it up and putting all the games you want on there, but other than that, it’s been nothing short of perfection so far
Just purchased the Odin 2 since I wanted to upgrade to a device that I can use to focus on my gaming needs, besides I already own a phone. Good thing I discovered the Odin 2, and now I can't sleep.
Odin 2 pro (cold grey) owner, I agree with your video. I due agree the Odin 2 is good for the forseeable future unless there is some kind of new emulator that requires chipset that is higher than the 8 gen 2. Awesome video, keep it up 👍👍
I love the cold grey, it was my dream machine when I saw it announced. I couldn't wait for it to ship! It's my daily retro machine now, bought a dock and Bluetooth controller to play it on TV. Ps2&Gamecube upscaled. I even played some Xbox gamepass cloud titles. Also bought the case, one hour lunch breaks go by too quickly now
I bought my Odin2 Max to play Switch games, but after yuzu got taken down, I have to wait for Strato. I might do even more with it when Linux support gets better, and if Strato gets a Linux ARM build. I have over _80_ Switch games and I don't particularly like my Switch as a piece of hardware.
I have an Odin 2 pro and a steam deck and Odin performed way better in emulation than a steam deck, PS2, Wii and GameCube games look much better on Odin and have more stable and better fps than a steam deck, so I will never sell my Odin 2 for now! I hope Odin 3 will be able to run PS3 games when it comes out in future 😀
Freakin love my Odin 2. Use it for all my emulation needs and some Andriod gaming. My Steam Deck is for PC gaming and a few tittles of PS3 and Wiiu emulation.
I’m so torn between Odin 2 and the mini, so hard to justify paying more for equal performance and worse battery, smaller screen, worse audio. The size is amazing though I miss the days of comfortably having a console in your pocket.
Biggest differentiating factor between Odin 2 and Odin 2 mini is ergonomics. Yea one has bigger screen, the other is more portable, any differences in other aspects are no big deal, they are both excellent but if you are a serious gamer who plays Tekken at pro level, or like DMC player who can do mad combos, the Odin 2 mini is the better pick because of more the dpad centric layout. With Odin 2 you are more inclined to use the analogue stick which is better suited for openworld adventure games and shooter games
there is a slight difference! sometimes there's graphical errors on the base that isn't on the pro. There's a youtube video I watched on it. Its truly just a minor difference tho.
I would go for the pro, since the 8 gigs of ram can be insufficient when you're trying to make Switch games run on your odin 2. They need a little over 8 gigs of ram. Also for Gamecube and Ps2 i would go for the pro, because of minor fps drops here and there on the base model. In summary i would recommend the base model if you don't mind, that you can't run EVERY GC (Gamecube) or Ps2 Game well, most of them will run fine but not every game. If you want to play GC or ps2 Games at its best, go for the pro. If you want those 16 giga of ram for possible xbox emulation in the future: take the max. Otherwise i guess the max could be a bit too much or with other words: bit of money waste for what you're trying to do. Hope i could help you a bit 😊

I wouldn't say the emulators are badly optimized, that's kinda rude to the devs actually. It's just that PS2 and Switch aren't easy systems to emulate, the first one for complexity and the second one for still being pretty modern. Luckily the Switch emulators can utilize the backwards comp of ARM these days, which makes them run even better. I wonder when we'll be able to play Switch at 2x res on the Odin 2.
