This is great news. I’m born and raised in SA and it’s always felt like we’ve been behind other cities as far as our downtown area goes. Lots of backwards thinking keeps the city in lagging behind. This is a great step, next thing should be for the city to either get an NFL expansion or a committed relocation and replace the Alamodome with a modern stadium. Time to move forward.

The Alamodome will never get torn down or get repurposed for basketball. Alamodome hosts Final Fours even though the venue is not the best venue compared to the newer venues. It’s downtown, the river walk, and the convention center that attracts Final Fours plus they are all in the vicinity of the Alamodome. It’s not always about the quality of the venue that attracts these big events.

@@babydrippa”Not everybody has the same interests as each other.” Indeed, it’s a historical cycle and we’re on the brink of a ticking time bomb, I believe unfortunately in America. Interests have been increasingly growing polarized between the Urban and Rural, left and right and even among different races now in America. Humans don’t just change their entire outlook on life, meaning and interests overnight either. Especially when opposite interests grow equally as polarizing which only causes galvanization in groups. This isn’t just history, this is tribalism and primitive in our human evolution. A fight against a growing threat among social groups, whether objectively true or subjectively perceived to be, will only serve in their conviction of being right even more. It will only make them fight harder, dig their heels in the sand, serve in their conviction of being right, and things will not cool down as a response from any opposing side. It will only cause a snowball effect until a boom happens when the historical cycle of interests, rotates back to these specific circumstances as we see today in our nation and many times throughout history in other nations, which presses any side against each other even further in their conviction of being right. Our nation has been down and started down this path since the late 90s and the deterioration of such circumstances has only withered worse beyond repair in my opinion. I think we’re just in a procrastination state right now. When I say I’ve thought about the future of this nation meaningfully for a long time, I mean it. I truly fear for the future of my country and my countrymen, no political or election hyperbole attached to that. I really, and truly fear for the future of the very existence of this nation as Abraham Lincoln once did.

The project is called "project marvel" and details are being kept secret. For what I understand the state will be funding the alamodome and convention center through a state grant. The arena will be a private/public agreement.
The architual firm is populous! The same firm who built the sphere entertainment venue in Vegas! For all people that were saying "there is nothing to do downtown! " put your money where your mouth is. I'm voting yes on this project! It's finally being done the right way. Texas football is too strong to trail California, Florida, and even New York state plus greater New York City in NFL teams. I'm not sure about MLB interest but the recent World Series titles of the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers, the former by legitimate means the second time around, could certainly boost demand for more diamond opportunities in the Lone Star State. It should be San Antonio, Austin already has UT, who needs pro sports when you have one of the best funded college sports programs in the nation.
