  • While Teton Village rates this new trail as a "double-black diamond", I admit I was intriqued and wanted to scope it out. Well, In my opinion, I don't think it was too exposed or dangerous. Angel's Landing in Zion National Park is way worse than this, by far. Regardless, it is still a challenging hike due to the elevation gain, starting at high altitude, and the distance. Don't overestimate it and it shouldn't be one of your first hikes.
Hiking my FAVORITE trail in Jackson, Wyoming - the Holey Moley trail. It's located in Teton Village about 25 minutes away from downtown Jackson and is worth the hike in mid-summer. Anything earlier and you most likely will need boots to go through the snow.
It technically is a free hike but it makes for a quite tiring day as you will ascend over 3000 feet and total over 7 miles if you take MY path (with is the free hiking paths).
BUT...if you want to skip the Wild-flower trail both up and down, you will need to pay for the gondola ticket which is a cost of $50/day per person. But it does give you unlimited rides up and down the mountain. So you will need to decide if that is worth it to you!
Holey Moley is not meant for those who get altitude sickness easy or are terrified of heights. Personally, I thought it was no big deal. And I think most intermediate hikers will agree with me.
It was beautiful and one that you won't forget either. I will do this one again and again as it is a great hike overall (the exercise, the distance (which is no big deal for seasoned hikers), and the beauty!)

This is beautiful! We will be traveling from Texas through Colorado to Wyoming in June. Thank you for sharing some ideas of trails to hike and places to see. Although, for us living in a low altitude climate, I am hoping for no altitude sickness. As a type 1 for 40+ years, I am curious as to what you use as quick carbs for low blood sugar on the trail. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks again for your kind comments! This was an amazing hike for sure, and granted I did the whole thing to avoid paying $50 for a tram ride. If you pay for it, you will shave off 3/4 of the trail and will definitely limit your altitude sickness. For quick sugar - I use skittles candy, or sour patch kids and they work quickly and are fun to eat (versus swallowing pure honey sticks). But that’s just me. Also they are good motivators for young kids to keep going…but you gotta be selfish and save a lot of them for yourself. Haha. You will Jackson. Such a beautiful area nestled between Tetons and Yellowstone.

Haha exactly! $200 for my family if we did it. Nope. By myself, it wasn’t worth the $50 to hike 2 miles up. It was steep for sure but if you are in intermediate good shape, then it’s no problem.
