what a great video I just bought these poles and love them Your video was ten out of ten I looked at many videos glad I found yours You indepth explanations were just fabulous You are definitely a pro and love your humour Thanks Aaron
Thank you!
I appreciate you reviewing your equipment. Too often reviews are done by people who might have used the item in review, but have no idea how to properly use it. With your experience and knowledge I trust your evaluations. However, there has been some equipment I used and prefer not to use, but I always respect your opinion.
Sure thing, thank you!
Morning Aaron! I have the Black Diamond poles as well. That lower section of foam I often use for up hills. If it's a short climb it's faster to pull my hands out of the strap and shorten up the grip than it is to adjust the height. I ended up with the cork which I'm grateful for as my hands sweat, but I also tend to use rubber overmolded tips since it's all rocks here, and that certainly helps with the vibration.
Great review I would suggest if you are to adjust the fliplocks always do that with the locks open. I also never remove the small trail baskets I screw the snow baskets up to the trail baskets to locks them tight it gives far more support to the snow basket. Also I am considering taking a side off of the snow baskets so that they sit flush on the side of my bag my old black diamond poles have this feature the snow baskets are very large great for soft snow but a pain when I went to fit them to my bag. All the best from the U.K.
Thank you, you are the only review to show how the adjustment system works on these particular poles 👍
Thanks!
the foam is so long that you can hold the poles there when you need a "shorter" pole for a few minutes (when you go up a steep hill for example). Then you don't need to adjust the height of the poles. At least that's what I use it for.
Thanks for all your videos btw. I just found you because I'm preparing for some higher mountain expeditions. Do you think it's useful to have multiple down jackets with different amounts of down fillings (warmth) or is just one very warm one ok? I would prefer to just buy one with >300g down filling but maybe that's getting too warm below 5000m elevation.
Thanks for the detailed review. What are your thoughts on carbon fibre poles? Personally I do not use carbon poles over concerns of potentially snapping them by accident.
They claim the lower part of the foam is for doing quick climbs where you would normally shorten the pole. But instead of doing that you just move your hand down.
Interesting idea.
can you use this on normal ski ? ^_^
Yes, you can.
They are exactly the same as any other foldable poles that are labeled „for skiing”.
Just tight the screws harder.
wowww nice thanks sharing full watching
Thank you too
Are you related to Ray Romano? Same voice lol
No, but I've heard that a lot.
Luckily 4 people on earth use mittens like that lol
Maybe 5 here soon hahaha
For sure.
I found some free poles in the woods, there called sticks! lol As matter of fact the whole forest had them every where, all kinds of shapes and sizes to!
