I'll say it again: I think you are the absolute Mayor of Mount RUclips-opolis." Interesting", "engaging", and "innovative" are all words I would use to describe your content. Your editing and voice over work is great too. I realize I'm sounding like some kind of sycophant, rock fan, but I wish more creators on RUclips would try as hard to publish top shelf videos. I look forward to more from you!
You rock Floyd!! It’s comments like yours that give me the motivation to spend the time putting together fun and informative videos. It’s truly appreciated my friend! Wishing you the best as we move into the prime hiking season. Fist bumps ~ Miyagi
Miyagi is the ultimate product tester who may never be asked to test a product again:) But you really did show off an outstanding product for sure and for certain
INCREDIBLE!! Great video my friend! Lots of great info and loved the ice block drop! Draggin it through the woods, no problem! This pack and new Ultra material is awesome!
I think you’ve set a new benchmark for a gear review video! Very impressive and well done. The attributes you describe in the voiceover segments add a ton of value to the review for the details that various users would value. You didn’t mention it but I was really surprised that the side compression straps with the LineLocs didn’t break.
Looks like Waymark found a new QA tester. The packs are going to come a little rough around the edges from now on but you'll know they'll all last. Lol Great video Miyagi! ✌️
Great video! I can attest to the durability of Ultra from making my own FastPacks with Ultra 100 which held up to some serious bushwhacking and carrying a bunch of climbing gear totally fine! However: Delamination will happen eventually - in my case this started at the seam of the shoulder straps. I promptly reinforced the spot with tape and it didn't spread any further so far but only time will tell.
I have actually never had any issue with any pack ripping or tearing in my entire life. I guess my biggest concern is how they carry. Great tested but I just don’t abuse my packs in any way, especially since I went UL.
As long as you don’t overload them they carry great! Doesn’t sound like that would be a problem for you. This particular pack has been my go to now since I released that video.
@@MiyagiontheTrail I am looking at going with a Waymark pack. It’s one of their more beefy packs, the one with the metal stays. My base weight is low, about eight pounds but I now mostly backpack with my dog and she does not carry a pack. So this means not only am I carrying her sleep system, jacket, rain jacket but all of her food which can really load me down. My Arc Blast is fine but the dog food really adds a lot of weight. I plan on doing the Colorado Trail next summer and there are some long water hauls. I feel a more beefy pack with help. It does not help that I am well into my 60s. We did the Long Trail of Vermont last year and we both had a great time. Take care and it’s nice to see those packs can take so much abuse. The lighter you go the more delicate things tend to get. Thanks for making this post.
The Lycra is definitely the weak point of this pack however I’m still a big fan of the material. Just don’t drag it over rocks and sticks for two miles. 😉
Holy hell you beat the crap out of that thing. The only thing I didn't see it go through that might do something to it is drag through multiflora rose bushes. Those things tear jeans and clothes when walking through them deer hunting. I'll have to definitely dial down my gear though to get that one. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks much Shane! Yeah…rose thorns are no joke! Maybe an Arizona desert drag next time!? 😂 😂. I appreciate ya tuning in and commenting. Fist bumps ~ Miyagi
Ha I hope they sent that to you for free. Now that is one tough backpack. Great entertaining video. My favourite backpack I use most is the granite gear crown 2. In the USA they call it a budget backpack but for £220 British money how can that be budget 😂 my beach camp is up bud. Thanks for checking in the other day 👍catch you soon
I’d love to head over to your side of the pond to do some hiking! Looks like you guys were having some fun! Actually we have a Crown 2 and we love it. It’s Trip’s main backpack. Keep them videos coming and I’ll watch for more of your livestreams. Cheers! ~ Miyagi
@@MiyagiontheTrail. He will use it as a sled. Support his hammock from it to test strength of the material and use it as a flotation device to escape your wife from hitting him with your frying pan. 😂😂😂😂
Would you recommend this bag to someone that has used canvas and leather his whole life? Been thinking about grabbing one as a bugout bag, but I don't trust the reliability of dyneema. I've been using an LL Bean Continental rucksack in waxed canvas for the last 10 years with no issues, but yeah, its heavy. I'm really interested in this new material if it can compete.
Oh heck yeah. I’m used to dealing with heavy military and law-enforcement type gear… cordura, Kevlar, leather etc. This sucker is going to hold up well and save you a ton of weight. I’m seeing a trend in the outdoor industry to move away from Dyneema. Lots of cottage companies are now using Ultra
@@MiyagiontheTrail So after nerding out and watching multiple reviews on this product. I’ve decided making the investment in this pack. I tell the wife it’s an investment 😉. Did Waymark offer a promotion code to help with the price?
So I’d like to give an update after 8 months. I would say I backpacked about 60 miles with the Evlv. This is definitely my favorite pack. Very good quality material. I came back to this video for your coupon code. Picking up the dark sky for commuting to work. Thank you Miyagi.
That’s awesome to hear Steven! I’ve got about 500 on mine now and it’s still going strong. I’ve yet to try out the Dark Sky. Looks pretty slick though. You’ll have to tell me how you like that pack from @waymarkgear
I'm always worried about the stretchy fronts of packs wearing prematurely (which has been the case in nearly EVERY pack I've owned for 20+ years... and Is exactly what you showed on your test too!). You said the elastic front is made of "lycra stretch" - is that the same "UltraStretch" Waymark now lists on their website for that part of the bag? (which is made by the same Challenge Outdoors company that makes Ultra/UltraWeave). -- just want to make sure it is before I have this custom pack NOT put that fabric on the front (and instead use regular Ultra NON-elastic).
I think Waymark has actually updated their mesh from the one they sent me. I haven’t had a chance to test it using the new challenge outdoors material for the mesh part. Ultimately I still think this will be one of the weak points of the pack (especially if you drag it for two miles like I did 😂)
Though marketed as a “full size pack” this really would make a great larger daypack perfect for something like peakbagging when you might want a little more gear. And for all the ultra lighters that defend HMG and like packs and claim “load lifters are useless on frameless packs” this demonstrates no they aren’t.
Totally agree with you Christopher! Especially if your someone who likes fastpacking or just moving quickly and dynamically on trail with a load. The load shifters make a huge difference in the stability of the pack. I can see peakbagging trips with this bag for sure! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated!
Yeah I gotta say I cringed also. When a company gives you a backpack to review most people do a talking head with some b-roll of the features and stuff after having it out on the trail for a few trips. At the end the day you end up with a nice shiny backpack for your work. I ended up with a backpack that looks like its seen more than a few years of trips under its belt! 😂 😂. But totally still functional! Thanks for watching my friend! Fist bumps ~ Miyagi
No benchmark at all for testing. It’s too bad the “testing” didn’t test the ultra fabric didn’t include a test that matter which is loading up the pack and hiking with it. ultra is not very durable when those seams are out under stress the weave of the material elongates and then the delamination occurs. The circus tricks of a dryer and freezing it hardly test real world use. Plenty of evidence that the material begins failing when those seams get loaded and stressed. I wouldn’t buy that pack because the seams inside are not taped by the looks of it.

I gotta say, I was worried I was going to tear this pack to shreds. I was thinking Waymark wouldn’t be too happy with me. 😂 😂.
Dude. I’m sold. That is the most epic backpack video mankind will ever see…a thousand years from now people will be talking about this video lol

Great review of the backpack.
That ice block drop was so cool. You beat up that backpack like Rocky did to the Russian Drago in Rocky 4.

Just had mine ship from Waymark. Looking forward to getting some use out of it - maybe not quite as agressively though. :)
I definitely would not suggest dragging it behind you for 2 miles if you’d like it looking fresh and clean 😂 😂 😂
Don't know if I was more concerned for the pack, or for your camera.

LOL!! There have been a few days that I've wanted to kick a backpack.
I hear ya on that one! 😂 😂
That looks like too much fun....
We definitely had fun putting this together!
Did the abrasion lighten the color of the pack? Mine got some abrasion and that part is lighter but still looks solid.
Is that something you noticed? Hard to tell from the video
I did not notice any lightening in color.
@@MiyagiontheTrail Thanks for the reply! I'm wondering if since your's had abrasion all over the color change was uniform and not noticeable.
Miyagi, when your done testing the pack. You need to do the Milosh test! I thought if seam sealed Ultra 200 was water proof.
Which one is the Milosh test? I can’t imagine 😂 😂 😂. If the seams are sealed it definitely is waterproof.
I’ve ordered the 46 liter Lite AF pack with the Ultra 200. I’ll still use my DCF version for weekend trips and save the Ultra 200 for longer trips.
Lite AF? Never heard of them.
