  • The Yucatán peninsula in Mexico is famous for their Cenotes, basically they’re freshwater underground rivers. Every single one is said to be connected like a giant ant colony until they reach the sea. The legend Ben and I wanted to investigate. We managed to find a company that would take us but asked if we had our advanced certificate and cavern diving speciality as we were going over 30m down and going through some tight spots. I only had my open water certificate at that point but the man smiles and says “You can do anything in Mexico if you pay” so with safety out the window we chucked on the wet suits and explored. Now it’s known that the cenotes were used for sacrifices back in the day so it’s common to find bones from animals even humans. We were “lucky” enough to find a little something.

Thanks mate! It wasn’t, we had thick wetsuits on but you definitely noticed the chill as you go deeper!
