    It is ridiculous when I hear people say "we know more about space than under the ocean". Have they ever considered that there could possibly be infinitely many oceans on near infinite other worlds that are just as if not vastly more complex and mysterious than our own? We can't even begin to imagine what is out there. Just the shear amount of space should make this obvious.

    • @Dman9fp
      @Dman9fp 3 года назад

      Think we have to define what "know more about..." means. If that means proportion of the total, assumes we know the limits of knowledge of a topic, which actually we never know. Even if counting facts/ total research, maybe some of it is wrong/ misled. So people can keep yapping about their perceptions, still probably more that we don't know than what we know about most anything (more we know, more we realize we don't know much. Just speculation but maybe why it seems we "know more about space" because it's so distant, we admit we can't explore very far and just compartmentalize assumptions and observations... And maybe the assumption that "hey we haven't explored all the ocean yet, even tho we have coexisted with it pretty much since the beginning of time... What's up with that!? We don't know much about the mysteries..." XD
      Also impossible since space, for practically all intents and purposes is (by our intuition at least) practically infinite, unlike the Ocean-- we can calculate roughly the total volume, estimate biomass, etc. sure we may never hit the nail on the head but sure beats whatever best estimates/ trends we can sum up about space (also eerie to think, least imo, we will never know what's beyond the observable universe, by definition)

      The aircraft is at 30,000 feet ABOVE SEA LEVEL. So if you are 5000 feet ASL, then you are only 25,000 feet below the aircraft.
      But you will still get a rough idea of the scale. It is not very good, because there is no reference for comparison.

    Hi! Manipur is a state in India bordering with Myanmar. It has many ancient books and verbal stories saying it is the place from where human beings spread all over the world. Also says that it used to have one of the oldest civilization in the world. There are also many interesting things about ancient scientific knowledge example, "Numit" is the local name for Sun ; Nu = Living things and Mit = Eyes which means the thing which makes living things eyes see other things. There are many ancient carvings on the rock and many other interesting things. In 2009 archaeological department of Manipur University excavated inside "Kangla fort" and they found an earthen wire. Surprisingly, when it was carbon 14 dated it tuned out to be oldest in the history of human civilization but government didn't even give a shit. Most interesting part here is no one has ever tried to discover this place. Very much neglected by the govt as well. So, this is my kind request to do something about this place which still remain untouched. Please...

    For you from New York City, if you want to walk the equivalent to the deepest part of the ocean seen on this video (which is over 22 miles or 36,037 meters) walk from the bottom tip of Manhattan at the Circle Line Boat entrance all the way up to the upper tip of Manhattan (called Inwood) and that is only 13 miles. That deepest ocean point is almost two lengths of Manhattan (going South to North) short by only four miles. That is insane.

    There are Places in the Great Sandy Desert of Australia that I saw in the 80's by Helicopter that are unbelievable plateaus of limestone with palm trees and deep water pools no doubt known by the indigenous aboriginal peoples in the past but now probably forgotten, hidden by remoteness and the camouflage of sand dune country so repetitive out there. I will never forget those sanctuaries of life in the desert.
