Hey, Paul...I'm friends with Nicole on FB and I've chatted with her a bit. Just two fyis...she told me she knows sign language and she understands Written English very well! I asked her about sign because I would be willing to bet there are guys on Christian Filipina that would already know sign or may have hearing issues themselves. One thing I can tell you from chatting with her is she is not demure and says what's on her mind good or bad. I'm so glad you and Mae are helping her and any of your audience too...when I first saw her my fatherly instincts kicked in and I wanted to do something to protect and guide her which is why I started chatting with her and of course, first told her about my Grace letting her know I wasn't "trying to get" with her. Such a sweet young woman...though I think there's a little wild fillie hiding behind those pretty brown eyes and I pray God she finds a wonderful guy who will love her and take good care of her. Anyway, I'll see you and Mae soon. Returning to the Philippines on June 5 to collect Grace in Bacolod and take care of a few things there and then will be on to Dumaguete on June 19. Hopefully, Nicole will be able to find the type of person that she is looking for. It will be more difficult because a 30 yr old will still have to work, which may mean moving out of the Philippines. That could create new language barriers in what ever community she moves to. Good luck Nicole.

I don’t recall if I said this previously, but one of the problems with hearing loss is that the brain loses the ability to understand words. My great audiologist made that clear to me, which enforced me being more responsive to wearing hearing aids. So, I suspect Nicole can better learn to interpret words and speak. But, it likely will require a lot of work. I sincerely hope she finds a kind and compassionate foreigner who can help her take advantage of her abilities. Best wishes. So happy that you and BabyMae are helping Nicole. A friend of mine loss her hearing in the same way. She lived in rural Arkansas and her parents couldn't afford to take her to the doctor but she's an amazing person. She has 2 master's degrees and has been very successful. I learned sign language from her and her kids. Being deaf doesn't mean you can't have a full life and I know Nicole will have a wonderful life with you guys helping her.

My mother was born deaf. She had a very hard childhood and was taken away from her alcoholic father at ten years of age. IThis was 1945z I wish this young lady every success and Paul the help you and Baby Mae are giving is incredible. Thanks for sharing.

That cheered me right up, awesome intro, lost my hearing on my left side at 50, 64 now, docs don't know why, had several procedures to try and resolve the issue but no help, so hearing issues are tough to resolve, wish the young lady the best PEACE!!!

I was 95% deaf in my left ear only until one day my osteopath was adjusting something off in my right leg, and my ear popped open.
I could suddenly hear about 60% so I told him and he said he could fix my hearing.
Over the next two months, once a week he adjusted my body and told me it was fluid build up and a slight misalignment in my spine just below my skull.
I now have abiding 95-97% hearing in my left ear compared to my right side.

Hello Paul , Mae, and Nicole. My uncle in Mexico has neighbors that got fevers as children. One is partially deaf, and the other 2 are completely deaf because of the fever. The 2 deaf girls can't speak, but I'm not sure if it's because they were never taught how to speak or if they are mute. They are close to 50, and never married cause of this. But best of luck to Nicole, there is no doubt she will find someone and she will be able to do anything she puts her mind to. Especially with you and Maes support. God bless!!!

PAUL and me this brings back so many memories when I first got to the Philippines to do missionary work. I stayed in Bataan and got married !about a month I was there! Had to go to Davao so I flew and on the plane my hearing aid broke and was lost! It was so hard trying to listen and learn the language,then my wife came to join us now I had a great big problem 3 languages! My mom sent me grandpas old pocket aid!it really helped! But the cords had to be replaced often! I also taught many basic signs language it helps to make things quicker to understand

I have hearing loss that began age 5 but not 80% loss. I can relate to some of her challenges. I hope she finds the foreigner of her dreams and they dance together every day !!

My sister had meningitis that.effect her hearing when being a baby.if effected her speak and hearing..wears a hearing aid..hope she gets good treatment.

Paul and Baby Mae, thank you so much for first introducing us to Nicole, and becoming a personal project. If she can be taught sign language, it would help her to talk with foreigners that are both age appropriate and help with the language barrier. She has her standards already, and I don’t think she is out of touch with the mm. Am she wants a man that she will be able to spend a long time with and help with babies. The only way I can see that working out, because she wants a younger foreigner to be with is to either have a guy who has a very successful business and can work remotely, or an LDR, and then they move to the home country, which will be very concerning for her parents. I wish her and her future husband all the happiness and joy they could have 😊
My girlfriend from Binalonan Philippines has a niece who was born deaf. The Philippine government paid for her, her parents and two siblings to go to school and learn sign language, should look into it

Paul, I think that you and Baby Mae are doing a wonderful thing for Nicole, and that her hearing loss at such a young age needed intervention! The gentleman from Cebu got the ball rolling, so now she needs follow-up with speech therapy and maybe occupational therapy! My wife wears hearing aids, and had a similar scenario with a childhold desease that had a negative effect on her hearing! She lived with compromised hearing until the age of 60, and now her hearing is much better with aids! As my wife says, "Aids don't correct your hearing, but augment your hearing!" Anyway, I hope Nicole meets a fantastic man who can help her achieve her dreams! Paul, kudos to you and Baby Mae! Cheers!

Paul, here in Oklahoma there is a State School for the Deaf. Speech Therapy I'd say would definitely be a help with educational interventions. Since she is 20 perhaps a private tutor. My first thought would be can anything be done medically?
Implants for hearing, etc?
Does the Philippines have any services for the Deaf Educationally?

Paul: I admire you, Mae and your channel for all your kindness and generosity. You are kind, compassionate and considerate, and arguably, the best example of an American expatriate we can observe on RUclips. I do notice something though, and want to express it without making any judgement. Most of your Filipina guests are younger, beautiful women while you seldom feature older ladies. And more often than not, they show more skin than the Filipino or expat males. I think, and I could be wrong, a casual viewer may just get the impression that yet again, another expat You-Tube appears to focus on physical beauty rather than inner beauty. First impressions are often wrong.

Nicole: You a good looking girl. Not if, but WHEN you find mr. right and if you go live abroad, my advice for you is this: Find the Philippine values that you want to hold on to. Then find the new country's values, and decide for yourself what you want to adapt. That way it is YOU, chainging yourself. Not your mr. Right changing you. No one likes to be forced. This is just my view on things, it is again YOUR choice to evaluate if you can use my advice. :) I hope all the best in the future for you. :)

I have a couple trustworthy friends my age (late 40s) I am trying to get to walk away from the American dating scene. Paul and May, I want to congratulate you on the beautiful thing you are trying to do for Nicole. She's very pretty and in a way I'm glad she doesn't fall for old guys like us. I think 35 should really be the age limit for her, but then we have a problem of course! How many foreigners below the age of 35 are willing and able to move to the Philippines? My fatherly instinct wants to protect her from getting harmed by guys who want to take advantage of the vulnerability that comes with her handicap, but I have a good feeling that you are going to keep an eye on her and provide some "parental" guidance. She certainly deserves to be loved by a guy who is honest and sincere and willing to take her under his wings for better and for worse.
