Me too. I grew up in a Children’s home and the children who were sexually abused normally turned to such professions. These children then become drug addicts, then crime until they die an early death. Immensely sad really. Most, if not all working ladies have had an abusive childhood. Children can, to some instance, overcome a violent childhood but one can NEVER recover from sexual abuse. Lovely to see this young lady’s tenacious zest for life. Well done Honey.

From what I have seen it's primarily the women who take the initiative to get things done. An OFW working in another country has to learn the language of that country. Not only speaking and understanding, but reading the language as well. I know many OFW Filipinas, and they work very hard. A lot of the men (not all) are not as dedicated (from what I've seen) and neglect the family. They're preoccupied with entertaining themselves rather than finding ways to support the family. I really admire the strength of character the Filipinas have.

I live in Taiwan and there were 151,562 Filipino OFWs as of October 2023 working and living here. Of those 123,768 were working in the manufacturing sector. My guess is that the vast majority of the Filipinos working in manufacturing are men.
Taiwan companies know that Filipino men are great workers and are of high character.

While young people with jobs in many countries are ‘quiet quitting’ and ‘lie flat’ (ie. ‘Lying flat’: The growing trend enticing young workers to opt out of the grind and an above-and-beyond culture eg. Australia), Honey is the opposite and an example of grit and determination in the Philippines that could boost the economy of the Philippines if harnessed properly. I honestly believe the Philippines has huge potential to follow countries like China and India with strong economies.
They don’t “lie flat” in the West - that’s a Chinese thing. You may want to get some info on China’s economy and unemployment before you say the Philippines should follow.
Why work when it gives very little benefit to you? 50 years ago a working class man could with his salary from 1 job get a house, a car, provide for a wife and 1-2 kids. Now a working class man working full time can afford NONE of those things. So younger people are making 100% rational decition. The options are to work 2 full time jobs + a side hussle to be able to do what their grandfather could do working 1 job or work as little as possible just to barele maintain oneself. Many chose to do as little as possible and they are the smart ones.
@@ST-TV maybe it feels like a rational decision, until everyone else’s money runs out. Then it’s a fascinating historical phenomena where everyone starved to death.
@@jeremiethomas8005 Governments practically never run out of money, because they have the ability to borrow money almost infinetely. Want more young people working? Then make it make sense for them economically. It really is that simple.
@@ST-TV Most of the issues that you are talking about are not because of income. When you have people earning up to 500K/yr and still living paycheck to paycheck, it is a budgeting issue for most people. Same for 50% of the lottery winners who are broke after 5 years. Today you can still buy a house and have a family on one job, but you need to have a budget and stick to it, like your grandfather did. Your grandparents did not waste money in their day on nonsense. But today there are so many opportunities to do just that. Cable and TV subscriptions are one example of things that are not necessary. Have a budget and know where money goes is a good first step. Good luck.
