I like how you carefully double and triple check everything before the flight. I should do it like you, even I just fly on „easy“ terrain… thank you so much for your content!
It is great advice to do a thorough check but not when it’s plugged in! Accidentally hitting the arm switch and you will lose fingers.
@@CC_FPV good point! But it seems that the pilot in the video has experience. You could also put the throttle in an „up“ position. There the quad would also refuse to arm (at least in my version of betaflight I am using)
@@mydauphinefilms Thanks a lot for pointing it out, my experience 🙂. I personally have two switches set to "AND" meaning they both have to be in the same position to arm the quad.
I've already lost two quads, both with session5's. Both also really close to me (about 10 to 20 meters only). So since then, I always check my quads, every flight.

Great Landing, perfect disarm! That low flight over waves was keeping me on the edge of the seat. I could feel the pain if that was to be me and my 5 inch gopro fell in.

This is awesome hobby for a ship. So many options - get a 7" and fly to those islands you are passing by (with some good planning), add some floats and land quad on the surface. May be fishing ?

It’s the ethix goggles strap mounted on the goggles by zip tie.
having just refreshed two mini 3 pros after "submersible testing" in the past two months, i was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

You should get a bigger radio
I specifically settled on this radio for it’s size. I started from Flysky I6, then Taranis X9D then the QX7 then finally the tango2. I stopped looking at new radios after this.
@@patrixfpv Just seems a little small for you. But you do you. The tx12 is also a great compact radio for pinchers.

I have a GPS module that I plan to install on my 7". Though I wouldn't be installing any GPS on the quads that I fly at sea. It's pretty much useless.
@@patrixfpv I'm just paranoid with unexpected failsafe :D
@@patrixfpv Maybe it's not as useless as it seems at first glance. For example if you accidentally fly in front of the ship like what almost happened in this flight with a GPS you can set it to go higher up in the air above the ship and then once the ship passes the drone you get your connection back. Idk could ben an idea. Idk if it's wortht the cost though
@jonathan6351 In this case yes, but lets say this happened somewhere at the back of the ship, then it will be much worse. Your idea is actually good, but I don’t need a gps for that. I’ll just have to set the quad to go to horizon mode when in a fail safe and set the throttle to maybe about 40% so it would ascend slowly.
@@patrixfpv I didn't know that feature existed that works better yes. But at the back of the ship there is almost no chance you'd get the drone back anyways. When using horizon mode it'll fall out of the sky when the battery runs out anyways and have the same result as a normal failsafe. So I guess there's not much harm in that? Intersting situation though. Have a great day!

Does any of the ships systems (such as radar, UHF radio, etc) interfere with your digital fpv stream or radio control of your quad?
So far I did not have any issues even before when I was on analog video and on FrSky radio control. Only issue was when I was on analog and flying close to the ship there was a lot of multipathing.
@@patrixfpv I thought the old analog would be more problematic. I’m surprised that digital does so well in such a challenging environment. I work as a stevedore and often fantasise about flying through the container stacks, the cranes, and around the ships.
@@patrixfpv have you or any of your crewman seen UFO’s when you’re cruising in the middle of the ocean?
Picking it up and checking so much with it plugged in is dangerous. If you accidentally arm you will lose fingers. Do all your checks first then plug in. A quick arm to see all props are spinning then fly. You would not end then saying it was quick!!

A quick arm to see all props spinning is not enough for me. You are right though, what I am doing is extremely dangerous. You could potentially cut your body or your face. Please don't try this. Thanks! 🙂
@@patrixfpv I picked up my quad the other day after a crash and as I went to unplug my controller hanging around my neck hit my body and flicked the arm switch. Luckily I only cut a thumb but it could have been worse.
Since then seeing people messing with motors with the battery plugged in frightens me. I have since set up a pre arm button so I can no longer arm by accident.
