  • Solo winter summit camp in my Hilleberg Allak 2 on England’s highest mountain; Scafell Pike.
Had an amazing night on my favourite mountain at the weekend. Dragged my 18kg rucksack with full winter gear to 3140ft just below the summit of Scafell Pike. An amazing night of solitude on England’s highest mountain. Stunningly beautiful but brutal winter mountain conditions in the morning.

Sunday night viewing has not been this good since I was a kid, fabulous camp Dave. As always the edit was first class, capturing every element and highlighting the constant dangers. Well done Dave that was an exceptional adventure. Your advice about building up your experience is very important, no novice should try this without a lot of well learned skills. I was getting concerned when you wandered around on the summit away from your tent, and was wondering if sudden conditions would make it that you couldn’t find your way back! I really appreciate the effort you make to get this filmed, on your own, and then edit the footage to make it such a watchable piece. I noticed you don’t record any VoiceOver, because when you were on the summit, and the wind was making live voice recording almost impossible, that might of been a good time to record a comment in post production. I am glad you mentioned the drone because a 17 kg pack in those conditions was quite an achievement and to carry the drone and battery (ies) up and down without having to use them is quite a sacrifice.
Keep up the fantastic work, Dave, and stay safe

Jesus mate, that is some serious graft, not only hiking up to the top of Englands highest mountain with all that camping gear on your back, but with the icy conditions as well, well done man. Well deserved beer after that trip for sure. Amazing video as always. so inspiring to make me get out and camp. This’ll be one camp you’ll never forget, there’s not many people can say they’ve had Scafell Pike all to themselves. Thanks for sharing mate. Look forward to the next one.

Fantastic Dave. When you have some great gear, it's just awesome to be up there and feel warm, alive and in the moment. Could see your enjoyment from miles. Such a place huh! ..... You know your Ice axe is perfectly matched to your green top? 🤣🤣. Loved it 😋.....that shot looking up to Broad stand looks great in those conditions. Reminds me of Skye , Am Bastier or something

Excellent video as always Dave, funny how I commented on your Skiddaw video earlier in the week, about climbing Scarfell pike and experiencing -17c at the summit last January, then you experience very similar conditions. At least your phone didn't stop working 🤣
Inspired me to go up again, maybe try a camp. Look forward to the next video 👌

Awesome Dave, 10 out of 10 for bottle. I'll be heading for Scafell when conditions allow.Hopefully I'll get some drone shots. I'll think I'll start from Seathwaite farm though. BR John

I found your channel last year Dave and it’s been so entertaining, inspirational and informative. Your videos really are superb, thank you for the brilliant content. It’s funny though you saying how you need to build up your experience with mountain camping, I didn’t exactly follow that advice on Monday going for my first ever wild camp just off the summit of Great Gable in the snow and sub zero temperatures 😅 couldn’t resist with the forecast of clear conditions and no wind. I was prepared to come back down to Wasdale if it looked to dodgy when I got up there but it was an incredible experience being there at sunset and sunrise with the unbelievable view of the Scafell range and the Wasdale valley

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you might have enjoyed that one, Dave!? (Fist pumping and air punching might have just given it away!?) Your videos just get better, awesome! Thanks for uploading. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⛰👍Just rewatched and thought your bit about crampons and mountain rescue was excellently put, very succinct!

There's no way that pump company haven't paid you, if not, you are brave for doing the promo. You should've held out for more (if you didn't 😉).
Enjoyed the video, a fun adventure, makes me want to do more winter stuff. 😎

Well done on completing quite a few of your personal challenges which you have set yourself in some really testing conditions in the bombproof Allak2.
I can see why the Scafells are your favourite summits and when you factor in the peace and solitude you can really appreciate that deep spiritual connection with the mountain and the environment which you are experiencing first hand.
    Another 'cracker' Dave.
Stay safe and look after yourself M8.

Loved this camp Dave, didn't want it to end...and I don't think you did either😄.
Was waiting all weekend for this video to drop and it didn't disappoint.
Fantastic scenery but tough conditions up there, which you coped with showing your expertise and good humour. Snowy mountain tops look magical but you really nailed it home how tough it can be for the inexperienced or unprepared.
Was working all weekend so was glad to, just for an hour, feel like i'd been in The Lakes..the best place ever.
    Great stuff mate👍

Another cracking example of what its all about Dave . There's some new kids on the block when it comes to making quality videos on wildcamping and spending time in the hills , and you sir are definitely one of them . Keep doing what you're doing Dave . Neil .
