Still the same Hobby for those who Hobby . We have gamblers as well but that does nothing but help the hobby by getting singles to us quicker and cheaper. Opening boxes is another story but most true hobby collectors don’t mess with boxes ( often ) in the first place . The hobby side is stronger than I ever remember and I started in 2012
@hotjoe817 I don't feel grading is that big of a problem. I see an issue with the way PSA grades their cards by picking and choosing who gets a 9 over a 10 or a 8 over a 9. Also, there needs to be another grading company that can compete with PSA. But overall, I feel breakers are ruining the "hobby" by buying up all the product which leads to higher box/pack prices and getting back doored monster hits.
Outrageous high prices are going to push out the newer young generation of potential hobbyist , for this reason alone the card Hobby market will drop dramatically in the future.
sounds like Tpod is over the hobby just like the rest of us , go ahead man exit , this hobby it’s a disaster. plus all the cards Geoff talks about are out of reach for the average collectors
Can you guys please turn the volume up a bit on these videos. Also, I cant believe you guys didnt bring up the hype and the insane pricing for Caitlin Clark.
T-POT i love what you said about the hobby . I thought it was the greediest year yet for the manufacturing company's . Getting to the point of pricing the average collector out .
Legalized gambling for kids - this is NO hobby; it’s a billionaire money grab; allowing social media Breakers to do free marketing by providing them with no allocation limit to product while not supplying the LCS’s with any product in comparison; multiple versions of inserts or parallels to make kids feel like they received some sort of value or “hit”; its only going to get worse when the licensing is under one company.
How do you go through this whole episode and not one mention of Caitlin Clark , arguably the biggest player story of the year . I generally like you guys but that was a huge omission
Lol shut up yeah it was one of the highlights of the year for sure but they missed it they didn’t mention everything they have covered her in. Many episodes and will keep doing so stop crying about everything 😂
You should start the clock after the intro of setting up the topic of discussion. So much time is wasted talking and setting up the conversation that we’re missing out on the actual topic.
2020 Football rookie class is still 🔥 Herbert, Burrow, Tua, Hurts, Love, Jefferson, Lamb, Taylor. Best class ever. Easy comfort in holding sealed boxes. Only box/set I feel great about.
Wemby can’t live up to the outrageous hype. He can be a great player and have a solid career in the NBA if he stays healthy. The NBA and the cards market hyped him up just to get people to buy and buy everything Wemby. Everyone is cashing in and making a killing and collectors will be left with a bunch of over produced cards that are worth a fraction of what they paid for them. Their point on the baseball market was spot on. The values are more accurate and people don’t over pay. I think football and basketball is more of a flippers market and not a lot of true collecting. My 2 cents!
The dude with the hat and mustache (doug?) brings so little to this it cracks me up in a way, comic relief guy i guess eh? Geeoff brought a soldlid point on the brutal status of 2023/2024 football/basketball product. Even hockey, though a far better product, as a chicago fan i saw the bedard tank coming from a mile away with the insane printing and pricing. No need to buy any of his stuff then, now or even in the near future. And as always props to Tpott for bringing the salient insights and carrying the show per usual. Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025 to everyone 🎉
I think Geoff is definitely a very smart business man and knows what he’s doing. But that being said, I don’t think he actually knows ball. A lot of his takes on sports sound like a scientist breaking it down. Sorry but I would never pick a player based off of anything he said about talent.
Oooooooohhhhhh but GEEEEOOOOFFFFFFF...........Fanatics was suppose to be the best thing to happen to the Sports Card "It Ain't no Hobby No Mo'!" Fanatics ......less cards Mo' $$$$$ Fanatics = The "Hobby" Anti-Christ!
"Guide to Sports Card Garage sale prices" would be a more fitting name for your website. From what I see it encourages/Promotes stagnant sale prices that either go sideways or down.
The last few weeks the audio level on your cards in the table videos has been way low. I have to turn my tv way up to hear you and then the commercials are blaring loud
All the cards I'll want have already been produced 2+ decades ago. For those of us in that camp, the nonsense of the modern production and prices mean nothing.
Need to put stats on the back of cards. Also, list the (college played at) on football and nba cards. Frustrating to see a rookie in those sports and not know where they played. Don't want to be using my phone when looking at my cards. I look at my cards to get off my phone!
Tbh I'm not mad at the state of the hobby right now because every industry goes through these peaks and valleys and usually the next phase after this is a crash where we can finally start to see some normal prices again. Might take years but patience is a virtue.
I love that the WNBA was put on the map for collectors. It's been there but now consistent product is being printed and has maintained it's value through the offseason.
I just got back into it in August and I’ll tell you I’m having so much fun! Is it different than when I was a kid in the 90s? Very! Was I kinda shocked to see pre-teens carrying around armored briefcases at the national? Lol yep. But honestly there’s still so much fun stuff going on. The one thing I’m already sick of is people whining about breakers and grading and all that. Just grow up already. Sure there are lots of ridiculous hype high-end products but there are still plenty of great affordable products out there.
I'm still convinced I got the triple auto. It was stolen off my porch along with a 2024 Pristine Elly De La Cruz Orange /25 and some things for my son while we were out of town for my son's bone marrow transplant. USPS continued to deliver packages a month after we changed our address to a Ronald McDonald House out of state. We were told that because they were marked "delivered" insurance didn't cover them...but they were delivered to the wrong place. So, just FYI, if USPS delivers your packages to the wrong address, you are screwed.
Iits super bad because of the hobby box and retail prices just greed come on guys please lower the prices so people and kids can really afford it please
Just got some Christmas money, wanted to get into sports cards, primarily NBA and NFL, what booster boxes are the best to start? Or should I look into slabs first and work my way up?
They are called blaster boxes in sports cards. And I would HIGJLY recommend avoid opening products for those two sports. Very rarely will you hit anything of value. Much better off buying the card you want
Worst product of the year and Topps waited until the very end to send it out - 50/50 Shohei packs and boxes, hands down! Many are missing hits (like my box), or maybe you get a $10 SP in a cello pack if you got a box. There are already stories that most of the big cards went overseas, etc... Topps, there never should have been individual packs, just boxes with ONE pack in it. Also the relics apparently are live? Another dumb thing, that is easily weighable. $240 for a box of complete garbage is prob what you will end up with, so GL if you got one.
How about the 13yr old kids walking around the National with 50k in cards. Times have changed from kids today then when i was a kid. We have evolved so much in the hobby and made prices rise.
With as many sets as they make. They could definitely print less of each and let people choose what they want to invest into. That would change things through the market.
I’ll reserve judgment until 2024 is actually over. Something unexpected could still happen between now & December 31st that could change our perception of 2024.
The exclusives aren’t going away as panini is still signing prospects. It’s always been a thing. Jordan and LeBron never signed a panini card but we managed to enjoy the hobby still. Ben Simmons year had no autos and the cards still did well. Doesn’t matter now as Ben is terrible. Before when three companies had exclusives. Three companies made for better cards.
Your website red hand thumbs down anything listed higher than previous sales so how are they expected to raise in value if the average collector is going off advice of your website..?
You can partly blame yourself for tanking card prices. Your website gives sold prices that don't include the postage in the price. And people want it cheaper than last sale price. Bad enough that eBay auctions are looked at as Garage sales and tank card prices the most. Alot of cards sell for under $1 at Auctions and seller makes money on postage which doesn't reflect on your site and card value.
Cards are Dead. It’s sad to say. The greed and bulljive from the manufacturers to dealers to retailers to online everything just torpedoed the hobby back to the late 80’s. It’s over for decades
Autos will make base cards extinct going forward. Don't even bother selling a Base Card product. There are different teirs of card products for the haves and have nots. Every card needs numbered or signed at this point. Grading will keep exploding. We are firmly in the Junk Slab Era now.
Would like to hear a real discussion on the Triple Auto. It’s been awhile and it’s never surfaced. Was it ever mailed out? something doesn’t seem right. Card has lost a ton of hype resulting in value.
It was a great year! Prices make sense on many cards again. We have seen cards of the goats retain value and in many cases appreciate in value. There have been many low end and high end product releases, so that there is something for every type of collector no matter their budget.
It's not longer a hobby. It's a gamblers game
greed took over a long time ago. greed from the card and grading companies, from the speculators and etc.
@@metsruscan’t stand grading, I’m one of the few that never graded a card but I do buy boxes and I sell as much as I can from those boxes
Still the same Hobby for those who Hobby . We have gamblers as well but that does nothing but help the hobby by getting singles to us quicker and cheaper. @@brushben22 bro breakerrs make everything cost more
Neither the best nor worst, but the unbelieve amount of different cards and high prices has me only buying older singles.
Singles are cheaper than ever though. Modern and vintage.
BINGO !
Tpod? Tide Pod.. iPod? ;)
The Caitlin Clark effect was great for basketball and women's sports in general.
I think this might have been one of the more glaring omission.
We had card boxes and packs price children out of the hobby. It's mostly an adult hobby now.
plenty of packs for kids.
Can you guys please turn the volume up a bit on these videos. Also, I cant believe you guys didnt bring up the hype and the insane pricing for Caitlin Clark.
I say turn down the volume.
You have a volume button on your phone 😂😂
The triple auto not being found sums up the "Card Hobby" entirely on its own...
T-POT i love what you said about the hobby . I thought it was the greediest year yet for the manufacturing company's . Getting to the point of pricing the average collector out .
Expensive junk wax.
T-pot calling the kettle black. Love the irony.
What ever mics you are using last few video's they are not working...cannot hear you very well.
The “hobby “ has never been more like playing the Poweball lottery
Worst for prices best for insane cards.
topps should have not sold to fanatics
How do you go through this whole episode and not one mention of Caitlin Clark , arguably the biggest player story of the year . I generally like you guys but that was a huge omission
Cuz wnba still blows and she didn’t win the championship
Lol shut up yeah it was one of the highlights of the year for sure but they missed it they didn’t mention everything they have covered her in. Many episodes and will keep doing so stop crying about everything 😂
He put Caitlin in the Top 5 a few times this year.

T-Pot had some really good takes. The baseball card market is by far the healthiest market
You do a great job TPott! Your content helps so many people, especially the newbies! Thank you!

Herbert, Burrow, Tua, Hurts, Love, Jefferson, Lamb, Taylor.
Best class ever. Easy comfort in holding sealed boxes. Only box/set I feel great about.
I buy singles. I have not purchased even one Wemby. More money will be lost on Wemby cards than any other player to date.
Beg to differ…Wander Franco comes to mind

The next unfortunate headline? Fake vintage autograph authentication and grading.... Mantle didnt really sign it....its a fake.
its odd that bunches of vintage auto's are popping up in good shape....

Smart business men don’t lose money hand over fist with awful investments.
Are we in the middle or at the beginning of the junk lab era is the question you have to assume all expensive product has been scanned
“You already CT scanned your boxes Jeff” 😂 I love TPot
😅😅
It’s gambling at end of the day and what’s worse is the kids are getting into it
Tpott attitude on the state of the hobby is correct. Hobby will be in trouble in 2025
Mystery breaks on What Not just hit the true gold 1/10 Jayden Daniels tonight. 12/26

Fake hype. There's your mention
🤔 1999 after Jordan won his 6th ring and 3peat twice 😎 if you had his rookie card or anything special of him you knew it was gonna be very valuable 👌🏾

Caitlin Clark, the best thing of the year
Worst. Influencers teaching their kids and others to gamble under the guise of box battles and breaks. Disgusting. Prove me wrong.
Geoff? T-pot? Still waiting.
I used to love to collect but prices knock my out of collecting cards
Just got some Christmas money, wanted to get into sports cards, primarily NBA and NFL, what booster boxes are the best to start? Or should I look into slabs first and work my way up?
Slabs for sure, boxes can be super hit or miss. Buy singles.
They are called blaster boxes in sports cards. And I would HIGJLY recommend avoid opening products for those two sports. Very rarely will you hit anything of value. Much better off buying the card you want
Juan Soto’s cards are heating up? That’s news to me and I own multiple 1st autos and numbered rookies of his. I need to check market movers now
Geoff ordered a CT scanner 😂😂😂kidding LOL
Not a good year for cards
Bad: skyhigh prices, over production
Good: .................
Not mentioning Caitlin Clark is insane, she put WNBA and WNBA cards on the map. Great video though.
Nothing is special anymore, millions of 1 0f 1's...lol. TPOT nailed it.
Been trying to jump into Sports card trading, and it seems the box pricess are leaving me behind while outpacing my disposable income every month.
Nat Turner joining the board of gamestop is a big deal. GameStop is one of the best things to happen to the hobby! GET READY

Yes & how the hell r they able to do that 😮
With as many sets as they make. They could definitely print less of each and let people choose what they want to invest into. That would change things through the market.
In 50 years no one will care about any Yebenyama cards, or most of the other players too. It's turned into another junk wax era.
they might not care about Mantle or Ruth, either…Hobby > investment
I’m with Geoff. Just open them.
Was the Paul Skenes 1/1 found?
No
its the worst year and will get worse
What about the WMBA. CLARK
the audio levels on this video are terrible.
I will never understand how a piece of cardboard is worth millions of dollars
Just like anything else that has demand and scarcity...like diamonds
What about Connor Bedard mania?
I told people to stop spending so much money at all these card shows then every complain why the market dont stay hot hello people
I’ll reserve judgment until 2024 is actually over. Something unexpected could still happen between now & December 31st that could change our perception of 2024.
For myself this year was really for the gambles high wax prices just overall more greed in the hobby which cause all them thefts at show etc.
Dont forget hockey cards whit Connor Bedard!
Didn't Fanatics Fest lose money and cancel other regional shows??
The exclusives aren’t going away as panini is still signing prospects. It’s always been a thing. Jordan and LeBron never signed a panini card but we managed to enjoy the hobby still. I hate to say it, but I like the scam/crime stories. They just pull me in.
The lack of hockey on this channel is shameful
Paul Skeens 1/1 Debbie Patch pulled I saw a video
No it wasn’t

Absolutely
Horseshit that USA 1/1 triple auto has yet to surface...Topps printed their own money with all that nonsense and should be sued at this point
hello
Would like to hear a real discussion on the Triple Auto. It’s been awhile and it’s never surfaced. Was it ever mailed out? something doesn’t seem right. Card has lost a ton of hype resulting in value.
Topps confirmed it was mailed out
Spitballin’ Cards!!!!!!!
nice
I will never forget the dallas robbery
Disappointment
can u guys leave randomly bringing up esquisite in 2024
dissapointing yr because everyone that does youtube viseos does the same thing, same boring videos every day.....
