In 2016 they were both up for sale in the US for around $100 000. From what I've been able to dig up on them they are supposedly prototypes.

    • @monzarace

      I've had my G60 Corrado for 11 years, and the G-lader works perfectly, despite being now 31 years old. Renew seals and bearings in the G-lader every 50.000 km, and it lasts. Mind you, if you keep it standard. Or if you want to tune it, get a g65, a G65 or a G75 charger. Spins out way over 300hp and that seems to be the limit for a fwd. It's now very hard to get body parts all over the planet. Wings, etc. Install metal part into the door handles, and they won't break again.
      Renew the lower inner rib wheel every now and then, say every 10 years or 50.000 km, and avoid it exploding.
      Seal the + wire on the glove compartment light switch, the trunk light and the main light switch, as they can move under hard suspension etc, and make a short. Better safe than sorry.
      Don't overlube the G-lader as it just sends the Kluber grease down into the intercooler. And DON'T use standard length bolts on the intake side of the G-charger, as they need to be cut off a few milimeters, to avoid potentially crushing the intake house side of the G-charger.
      The G-60 drives the best, as the 2,9 VR6 is more nose heavy. Bot all Corrado's have a really high level of cornering capability. It can easily follow a Lotus Elise on twisty roads. It's that good, and it says a lot.
      The 1991 G60 in Europe had more power, as the now shut down VW Motorsport used them in German hill climb races. Therefore they developed a better ported cylinderhead and ported intake manifold and exhaust manifold, and mine totally standard, makes 177 hp. With a modern 200 cell cat and a little exhaust work and a removed intake restrictor, it makes 190 hp - a ka a the VR6 in european models. Great fun.
      Bigger 312mm brakes from other vw cars fit right on. Good for tuned cars. It's low and expect a lot of stone chips on the whole front.
      Im my humble view, the Corrado is by far the best beginner sports car you can have. It's fast and it takes corners like not many cars can do. It's got a very fine balance in it.
      I'll keep my G60 Corrado for may years still, I hope.
      Cheers.

      That’s a good point a good body and the rest can be fix. It’s hard to find one with no rust

    You're not wrong mate I went from a Vr6 to a Mk5 Golf gti with its god awful tfsi engine, bloody awful in every respect 😢 I agree as per the head gasket and the sunroof but don't overlook the heater matrix, an absolute pig of a job 🐷🐷

      @@ThreePedalGarage it was way more reliable . The engine responded alot better , wound up faster and accepted upgrades better. Plus all that speed and fun for half the cost of fuel made this g40 my forever car. If u can live with its looks haha

    The clutch is guaranteed not to be original. And expect to rebuild the engine as soon as you buy it.

    • @monzarace
      @monzarace 3 года назад

      That is not my experience. Not at all. I've never heard of any of my friends Corrado's needing that, when buying, nor mine. A lot of these cars were heavily tuned and driven by young people, and got overdriven, overtuned and crashed. Not many left of the original 89.000 examples that Karmann made in Osnabrück.
      Cheers.
