This is something in the system that has been broken for a long time honestly. Over my lifetime I have observed people are more dangerous on alcohol than marijuana cigarettes.
They do swab test for amazon. The swab tests for thc in your saliva for up to 12 hours prior to taking test. This should also apply to trucking

I eon't want to get high. I just want the pain relief that comes from using CBD without testing positive.
💯 this being able to test positive for a topical treatment is mind-boggling to me. It doesn't get you high but can pop in a test. We are so limited in our pain relief options as drivers, its ridiculous.

Doctor told me that some cbd products have thc in them, if your driving you can’t use any, I guess there trying to come up with a test that only checks if your under the influence not the old test, atleast thats what the MRO doctor told me
It depends on the level of testing they are doing. If it’s zero tolerance then yes you will fail, if it’s just a normal random test you are fine.

Whatever a person does on their own free time is their business. As long as it don’t interfere with work performance. I don’t use any form of MJ but sure don’t see any difference with it vs. having a few beers when off duty.
I can agree with recreational fluids off duty and until it's required to be legal to return to duty. But no marijuana of any kind. Or any kind of allowance.

@@earlputnal9124 How is that any different from alcohol? The only difference I see is that the current tests for MJ detect usage from weeks ago, rather than current state of mind. Drivers can get drunk at night, and still drive in the morning. As long as they arent pulled over while the alcohol is still in their system, they are OK, meanwhile they really probably shouldnt be on the road until they get more rest. But if someone smokes a joint last week, and now is driving, perfectly safe, but they can get in trouble. I think that is the issue.

Never work unless you stay within the borders of a legal state. As soon as you cross state lines, you're federal and federal laws apply. The liability isn't worth it either. You get in a little fender bender and get tested, they'll bury you under the prison.
I was in construction for the last 8 years to be home more and got injured and decided to go back to driving so I stopped using mary Jane 3:18 for two months then took my urine screen and still showed up positive for pre employment and had to do the SAP program and for counseling appointments and it’s legal in the state I live in, now I finally passed it after 5 months and $1200 later and on the clearing house for 5years, good thing I own my own business but a company driver is pretty much screwed, I think the urine test is too sensitive, they test for up to 50 ng and after 2 months I was still 52ng so they definitely have to do something because after 2 months of not smoking I wasn’t high but still got a positive test

it stays in the clearing house for 5 years , But once you get busted and go through the ropes , your next employer has to test you 6 times in 1 year , He can do it 2 times a day If he wants or he can wait 3 months you just never know It will definitely be random

Something very similar happened to me. Failed by a couple points after months of being clean.
Why are we making so difficult for truck drivers to keep their CDLs when they are diabetic and on insulin. Diabetics can't take Gabapentin for neuropathy. We are allowing pilots with schizophrenia to pilot commercial airplanes.
I would love to smoke on my off days. And since I can past a test I'm not scared to talk about how I feel about it. At this point and the many hours we work if it's legal in your state we should be able to do it. Please President Trump if you read this. We need this my job as a trucker is stressful, but this would make my weekends Great Again.

I’m an honest guy, I smoke and for many of us true weed heads who smoke n drive. Most of us have our sh!t together on the roads, I’ve seen more accidents from ppl having their phones in their face, being drunk or due to health issues. But high off weed tho, I personally have never had an accident let alone had any issues handling my truck or doing my job. For me it relaxes the nerves and eases the pain that I deal with day to day in my line of work. But it also allows me to focus more, weed doesn’t effect everyone the same but it’s definitely not something that should keep drivers from doing what they love
The test cannot determine when was last used. Unlike alcohol that is broke down within so many hrs . And the breathalyzer as well

THC is only "active" for approximately 2 hours but can be detected for weeks. I don't believe drivers should be under influence behind the wheel or on-duty but I don't give a dayum what they do on their off time. This state vs Fed's on cannabis is ignorant and by design.

So I was contemplating dab dabblin in some flower but it’s way to risky and I don’t want to ruin my 5 clean yrs with a failed DT. But damn…I hate to drink but I want something to unplug especially since this is my first real vacation in 5 yrs.

Legalize it... On the federal level, on the state level, on the fmsca level. A swab test that goes back 48hrs should be good enough to ensure safety. MJ has been medicine since the 1800s. They saw the benefits of it and how ppl werent getting messed up (sick). Now were all Ginnie pigs getting all kinds of healt complications. Its a huge stress reliever and helps you sleep better. So many good things plants have to offer.

I think that's what the mouth swab will solve. I dropped dirty in March and hadn't smoked since Christmas day. I wasn't even employed with a company when I smoked. I thought by March I would be cool to go and look for a job, shit still was in my system. Crushed me to pieces cause I really tryna respect the game and do things the right way, no synthetic, no detox drink, just cold turkey and still failed, shit is crazy fam

I can use pure cleanse to wash out the bud in my system with tons of water & the pure cleanse I use to have jobs and pass them back in the early 2000's . What do you suggest on the masking the piss.
I know for a fact swift does hair test cause I failed for them after being 10 months clean literally. I passed the piss but failed the hair so they didn't report it to my Clearinghouse so I was cool to go find another job. I believe the orange company does hair test too, so don't rock with either one of them 2 companies. And please do not mess up your CDL and fail a drug test bro please don't, I hate to see anybody else get railroaded the way I did over some punk azz herb. Another thing too, I'm starting to hear that there are cracking down on the synthetic urine as well, they are starting to detect that it's not human urine. I would advise you to just wait it out and get clean bro, discipline your self and leave that herb alone so you can get a good job and feed your folks. It's a few companies out there that will hire you with no experience and just do a urine test, I know a few of em depending on what division you wanna go to, the company I just failed my test at was amazing during orientation, flew me out on a plane, nice hotel, good orientation pay, good training, I just thought I was clean at the time, I guess I still had traces of weed in my system.

I had a cancer scare early this year and also was at risk for renal failure. My doc put me on a medication that made me nauseous so I went to Rick Simpson Oil(THC Oil), Soursop, and Alkaline water among other things. Health drastically improved to the point where I'm no longer at risk anymore but went to take a drug test to go back to work and even though I had been off for 2 months and not smoking for one month I still failed and had to do the SAP program. Luckily I got a construction job and made the money to pay for the SAP program so I'm back on the road now but damn man cut us some slack. Trucking already puts us at risk for lung cancer among many other things then you deny us the right to seek holistic relief? On our off time? Even police (at least in New Mexico) can smoke weed on their off duty time and it has been proven to help with their stress levels. I agree this needs to be pushed through and approved.
When I started driving a truck it wasn’t pot it was no dose and jolt cola and you got it right there at the truck stop 😂
How are driver perception, reaction times, motor function affected? If negatively impacted, then don't allow it...if not affected, then change the testing procedure.
The issue with these test is that they always seem to use someone who can't handle it.
I used to do some racing, often better lap times because of the added immersion.
Allot of people do their "thing" better if they are "enjoying" it more.

The ONLY drug that really pops up is marijuana. When I first started the amount of meth addicts I met to "stay woke" before eld was astounding. just starting out driving, smoked daily for like 10+ years & quit cold turkey back in june 2023 before getting into cdl school.. really wish i could smoke on my time off but even if the federal government legalized pot & the fmcsa allowed drivers to smoke, i highly doubt most carriers would allow their drivers to smoke, especially the carriers that hire inexperienced drivers.. insurance purposes & all

I see wheel holders all the time go inside after they've parked for the night and buy either a 6 pack or a 12 pack of beer and head straight back to their truck with it. In the morning when I take my trash to a can I'll find all brands of beer cans and bottles thrown away. How many times have we stood in line at checkout and had to back away from a driver that reeked of alcohol? There's THC detection swabs that can be purchased through law enforcement store web sights that companies use that requires hair follicle drug testing. When the truck comes in for service there swab the interior of the truck and when it's detected there's and immediate drug test done. Drink on the weekend or toke on the weekend no big deal just don't have it in the truck nor do it while your 70 is counting down

Companies already tried pushing that some of them still test like and can fire over it but the fmcsa can't use it against you I doubt it will go through because there will probably a lot of false positives for everything
If you want a CDL license you can't smoke pot. If you can't quit smoking pot get a non driving job. You have to make a choice.

I have a question, do they have a breathalyzer for weed? Technically all you have to do is pass a breathalyzer for alcohol (4-5 hours it’s out of your system), how long until weed is out of your system for a breathalyzer?

not a good idea, testing doesn't say when they smoked. last week or an hour ago, don't want to be next to a driver going down the road if they are buzzing
If you can’t follow a federal rule because you’re addicted to smoking pot, making it legal doesn’t change the fact you have no regard for rules put in place. Full stop.

I’ve taken CBD for stress and sleep. While it’s supposed to be THC free it worried me enough to stop taking it.
This policy helps keep the driver shortage going. Shortage of driver's keeps the pay higher. Lower the standards, remove any requirements , Truck drivers will be a dime a dozen again.
Well if the fmsca move it up for only a few days in testing…the some ppl prob go out n do hard drugs n as long as u sober then there’ll be able to come back to work until there habit gets more seriously
When you sign up for this career you know from the beginning its no doing drugs..Point blank simple, if you want to smoke find something else to do!!
If it is forcing drivers to leave trucking cuz they cant live without mj then so be it.
I come in peace and it sounds good . However, just imagine if every law enforcement officer couldn’t drink 🍺 at all.
Or maybe employees in general . This is simply a matter of whoever is in power makes the rules. Anyone with a job has to be sober, picture that. No beer hell no cigarettes either etc.

Aint no way this will work, and if a bill allowing the use of any drug during on *_OR_* off duty does pass, thrn insurance will likely put trucking companies, not to mention owner ops, out of business.
Sensitive subject 🤦♂️driving a truck is a serious business and under no circumstances you should be under the influence of any type of drugs period. Some drivers are plain stupid already in the road, imagine if you let them do drugs. They’ll be and accidents in every highway. I SAY DRUGS AND TRUCKING DON’T MIX…….👍💯

How does the program know that if the truck driver is actually on MJ and it's not just from residual from him being at a party they'll still test positive for it

They are talking about off duty genius you can’t even pay attention! There are 100 times more alcohol related deaths from crashes than MJ so go read and research before you say some bullshit like last 2 accidents when there are at least 2 alcohol related accidents every 20 seconds in the US every day bird brain
