After watching you on different comparison videos, I was about to buy an FP-30, because my local music store literally said "the upgrade in the FP-30X is minimal", but good thing I found you here again !! So I just bought an FP-30X ;) Another slight difference that you are not speaking about is the color of the thin velvet line, visible above the keys. It's dark red on the FP-30 and black on the FP-30X, both in WH and BK, which in my opinion gives a more elegant finish. Thank you Stu for this amazing job you are doing, you are really helpful out there!!!

FP30 also uses SuperNatural, that was advertised from the day one and it does have sympathetic resonance, you can test it. Something is not right with your table. Half-pedaling is also possible on FP30.
Wow, no dislikes! Must be mostly Canadian reviewers, or you just do such a stellar job... ;-) Great review, all the stuff we need to know. Thanks, from USA!
I have the (old) FP 30. It's a consideration. Except for the fact I would like a built-in display, which would require the FP 60x. Right now I'm not serious about upgrading.
Wow. I was fooled into ordering a FP30 that came with a free stand because I was put under the impression that the only difference were the addition of some monitor outputs and improved bluetooth. I just canceled and went for the FP30X.
Exactly what I am considering. If sound, speaker ,chip, build quality is all upgraded with lower price is as advertised I am leaning fp 60x the whole way
The comparison between these 2 instruments put in evidence the full supremacy of fp30x and for me this piano 'll become the most sold digital piano in a reasonable price, in the next months in all the world!!! Roland has added more technology in the X serie, better connection now with 2 output and made expecially the 30 a GREAT digital piano, really!!!! Many more expensive digital pianos don't offer what fp30x does. Many compliments to Roland!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
I believe they also added USB Audio input+output, so you can record lossless audio directly to a device and also playback VST/synthesizer audio through your FP-30X's speakers. This puts pressure on Kawai to hurry up with a high quality ES120!
I’m going to get the 30x for my birthday this September 24th. I’m super excited. Your such a wonderful piano reviewer and player. I’ve been playing on and off for years. Looking to get back to playing after my house burned down 2 months ago. Is it worth it over the others in this price range in your opinion? Love your content:))
I am so happy to hear that! The Roland FP30X is a total home run! The SuperNATURAL tone engine, PHA4 action and upgraded speaker system combine to provide an excellent musical experience. Enjoy your new piano! :)
Thanks for this video Stu (and team) from the West Coast (Burnaby, BC). I picked up an FP-30 a few months ago (after a 45 year break in playing) and I have been enjoying it, despite some minor issues (Bluetooth connectivity, no line out). After seeing this video as well as your in-depth review of the FP-30X, (and a few from other reviewers), I feel there are enough improvements to justify the upgrade to the FP-30X. Especially since it fits my existing FP-30 stand and pedals. Just need to sell my FP-30 now ;-)
@@jayliu1984 Hi Jay. I am waiting to get a FP-30X first and likely going to be asking C$600, but let's talk. My email address is available through my YT channel page.
Thanks for this review! We purchased the FP30X, great piano! - But BIG problem with "Roland Piano App" which is great, extremely helpful (almost a "must" for a piano without any display). But it has a BIG PROBLEM so far: it ALWAYS demands internet connection to work. And that's NOT what is stated in Google Play Store (where it says it will require internet "THE FIRST TIME" you use the app with a Piano, and for "some" features as well). -- We're Musicians who purchased a Music Instrument, not a mobile device which is aimed to internet! We perform in different places, where internet is NOT always available, or it may fail. -- Many Roland Piano don't have even a Display, so "Roland Piano App" IS BIG HELP for faster/easier Settings, and also to use ADDITIONAL SOUNDS/TONES that are not available directly from the Piano (but they're there inside) So we contacted Roland (Via our registered instrument-Support) requesting that the app does not demand internet for those features that don't require it. They said they would put in a "wish list" to consider... This should be considered much more seriously than a "wish"... -- We do hope Roland realizes the big importance of using the app without internet AND FIX THIS, it's a Piano! We encourage everyone using this great app to contact Roland, requesting this, because it would improve and help a LOT the customers & musicians experience who trust on Roland.
You're very welcome! Thank you for tuning in and congrats on your Roland FP30X! I am happy to hear that you have been enjoying it. I am sorry to hear about your issues with Roland Piano App. With that said, Roland is a company that is very receptive to user feedback from my experiences. Hopefully, things are corrected so there is a way to access some of the features offline. Our fingers will be crossed for you!
@@MerriamPianos Thank you so much for your awesome reviews, indeed of great help to take a purchasing decision. The problem with the app was completely unexpected, since on Google Play it says it will require internet "the first time". We never expected that the app is demanding internet every time, otherwise it does not work, even for the most basic settings. We're VERY concerned, since nobody replied our 2 emails sent to Developers of the app, even after receiving the zendesk ticket numbers, (Developer email at Google Play), and the only response was from Support from the registered Piano, telling it would be passed as wish list. That was 2 months ago. The app was updated 3 days ago (Jan 23, 2023), adding new Piano models, but still requiring internet every time. It would be fantastic if you could contact them and/or make a review of the app showing that the internet "requirement" is a BIG limitation for Musicians, who travel to perform to places where internet is not always available, or even fail at home/studio, hence making impossible to use the app, which is a huge help, since lot of Roland Pianos don't have a Display. It has no sense at all to demand internet for features that don't require it. Also, the AWESOME extra sounds available ONLY through the app (obviously they're already in the piano, but for some reason not available directly...) Hence, if no internet, no extra sounds for performing when traveling... So we got mixed feelings, amazing piano with a limiting/ed app... - If you can help, it would be extremely appreciated!! Thank you so much. IMPORTANT P.S.: "Piano Partner 2" app, which allows Extra Sounds for FP10 does NOT require internet connection to work, but sadly is not compatible with FP30X. So for FP30X the only way for Extra Sounds (which lot are trully amazing) is "Roland Piano App"...
The best digital keyboard content on YT! Just adding an "x" turned out to be a big improvement and sure to upset recent FP-30 buyers everywhere. I just wish they could have made it lighter (no more than 25pds is my gigging keyboard sweet spot). A standalone 3-pedal board would also be nice.
@@martian-sunset oh you’re right. NOW they’re in stock. Too little too late. I’ve already ordered my FP-30X but it’s not coming till end of March though..
Great reviews Stu, thanks! I’m sure you already have the F701 review in the pipeline, but too eager to ask: How does the F701 compare to fp30x + stand + the tripple pedals, esp. considering sound quality (chip + speaker system) and connectivity? The portability is of course a major difference.
Thanks for breaking these two down. I saw both of these for sale and wasn’t sure what the difference was. I was really leaning on getting the FP-10, but glad I decided to get the FP-30x instead.
You're very welcome! I'm happy to hear that our review and comparison videos were able to help you in your process. The FP30X is a wonderful piano and I know you will be thrilled with it! :)
This is not only a significant upgrade, it really is one that almost makes the old instrument obsolete. This is just a much more realistic sound. I focus mostly on the piano sounds, not the other stuff. So, in terms of the new vs. old piano sounds, this one is not subtly different, it is scream it on the mountain much improved different.
I agree that the sound is much improved, but some users may be equally impressed by improved functionality, and the much needed line outputs. Suddenly, this piano becomes giggable. The old argument about Y cables in headphone sockets does not impress performing musicians.
I had an early Yamaha electric keyboard that had 3 sounds. The keyboard made a racket, but the action was okay. I was plugged into an amp or headphones and never paid the keyboard noise any mind. I do have a Roland FP-30x on the way and your review is awesome, thank you!
I got my fp30 last year. Im still inlove with it. Im sure fp30x is better but Ill upgrade the next time they upgrade and go for a higher tier model. Fp90x
@@MrBrayan1299 I was fortunate. I called my local music shop to order an fp-30 last month. The seller responded that it had been discontinued, so I got an early order in for the fp-30x. It should arrive next month.
I've just ordered as fp30, I was going for the fp10 after watching all the reviews and my level, nonexistent, of playing. Found out local Amazon (Spain) had a clearance sale of fp30's because of the fp30x, so got an fp30 for less money than an fp10, so think I'm Ok lol
except for Casio 1000 which is much cheaper and has newer action sensors, but Merriam strangely forgets to mention the Privia sensor in current video when he compares fp30x to Kawai, Korg and Yamaha. Yep, just forgot no big deal
@@tonyabram9281 The PXS was my first choice when I started looking into keyboards. It has a more plastic tone and the weight distribution is uneven with black keys and white keys. Pianoforever's video has a demonstration on that. I also remember reading a comment about the lack of dynamic range which is bad for beginners. The main upsides to the PXS series are design and portability with battery power.
It would be nice to watch a review of the key noise from different pianos. Or at least see a list with your observations. I'm almost satisfied with my Nord 3 61-key piano; but have been looking for a 88 key stage piano with good and quiet action with Midi interface in/out for a while now. Which digital pianos have low key noises?
That is a great suggestion! I will share it with Stu and the production team and, perhaps, we can cover it in an upcoming video. :) As for pianos with low key noise, the Casio PXS instruments have light and very quiet actions. The new RHC action in the ES120 has also been reinforced with more cushioning, which also makes for a very quiet key. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
Check ThePianoForever on YT for all the pure key action sounds with the piano muted. Look at the FP-30 review it has the same action, the possible subtle changes Stu mentioned (slightly different black key texture... seemingly 'tighter' which could be unit variance/age) has no bearing on the actions noises so they'll be the same. I have one and it's actually a very soft/pleasant noise, I've heard worse.
I feel like the polyphony rating is often misrepresented, as if the 128 limit just means you can't play 128 notes at the same time. But doesn't that also count all of the "strings" that are having sympathetic resonance? It's entirely possible a beginner or intermediate pianist will come up against that limit.
The equivocal conclusions are intended. He works for a piano shop and they carry all the products he reviews. So while trying to maintain neutrality and objectivity as much as possible in his review, he cannot show strong preferences towards any specific product, otherwise the store owner and the manufacturers wouldn't be happy.
I would be very interested in a review for the FP-60X and also comparisons to the Kawai counterparts, especially ES-520 against FP-60X but also FP-30X against ES-110. Great video as always! 😊
I think the 60x beats the ES520. The 520 does not have USB audio and midi together, but the ES 920 does. I don't know if the 520 has the led menu window either.
Hi Stu. great channel and vlogs. Question, you don't seem to review any of the yamaha hybrid or clavinova models. Is this because the shop doesn't stock them ?. I'd love to know your opinion on the latest CLP releases. Particularly, the 775 ans 785.
Because of the resonance upgrade, it becomes similar to electric guitar. If you love the sound of X series, play electric guitar such as LesPaul model. It will give you the same impression as Roland X series does. However, what will happen when I use damper resonance pedal? There will be a difference with or without it?
Thanks for this video really informative, and the other video was a good review with some good playing. I have the FP30 and am thinking of upgrading to the FP30x. I have the wooden stand with the pedal board, so its good to know its compatible.
Hi! Brent here! Thanks for tuning in! The Casio PXS models and Kawai ES120 are a little quieter in terms of key noise in my opinion. Thanks again and all the best! :)
The sound quality on the new FP30X is way ahead of the old version, the piano sound on the FP30 always sounded kind of toy like to my ear but on the new keyboard it's really starting to sound reasonably good.
Hello Stu, can you please tell me how the roland rp 501 compares with fp 30x considering the flagship concert grand piano sound when connected to external speaker (not the onboard speakers). Thanks🙏
I was curious if the speakers can be replaced by better ones? Hear me out; I detail cars so amongst that, I sometime upgrade factory speakers, LED headlights, etc. In some electronics there are upgradable things, and some that are more solid state that cannot be changed. I have the ability to do it and was wondering if you knew, or if it was something that you have any opinions on. My store has the FP-30X for $799 US, but does not have access to the older models. Since I'm a customer, they'd probably let me have it for $649. Is that good?
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! It is technically possible, but not exactly recommended for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, we strongly recommend leaving any type of repairs that involve opening up a digital piano to be left to a professional technician. Secondly, there are a number of reasons why manufacturers choose specific speakers or design speakers a certain way. Having a more expensive or higher-quality speaker may not necessarily lead to a better sound. The speakers have to work symbiotically with the rest of the instrument, which includes being voiced in a way that connects well with the piano tone itself. In terms of the price, $649 US sounds like an excellent deal based on our general price points here in Canada as a reference. :)
Hi Merriam Music, Hi thank you for your demonstration very nice, I am an owner of a Roland G1000 and sadly the LCD is fading and I can't find a part, so I am looking for another portable keyboard, what my dilemma is I have always used the GS MIDI via the floppy discs for backing me up as a one man band, I realise that is very old technology, I am wondering as you say the Roland plays midi can I download all my midi files to a USB and plug it into the keyboard for playback as I dont want to mess with Ipads ect. or do you know of another model of any brand that can do this, your advice would be great await your reply with thanks Kind regards Noeline
Hi Noeline! Brent here! Thanks so much for writing in! :) The good news is that virtually all digital pianos now are MIDI compatible, which means that you can certainly transfer MIDI files over via USB and play them back through the piano. However, with that said, if these are multi-track accompaniment tracks, things get a bit more complicated and it might actually be better to find an instrument that has a plethora of built-in accompaniment options. In my opinion, the Roland FP-E50 is very well aligned with what you're looking for! In addition to an amazing piano experience, the model provides an exceptional array of arranger and accompaniment options. You can check out Stu's review of the model here: ruclips.net/video/brKjzKSS9ck/видео.html Thanks and all the best! :)
Hello Brent, Thank you for your quick reply to my request and problem, when you say you can transfer midi files over via USB I am not very clear, can the midi files, these are commercial GS midi files 50's sixties seventies etc., I can transfer these from the floppy that I have been using to a USB via my computer they are all edited in my keys and so on, but then I want to plug my edited midi files straight into the keyboard via the USB without the use of blue tooth computer etc. can this be done or is via computer direct they only way, if not this model is there another model out there (not necessarily Roland) sorry for the trouble and question your help is so much appreciated, await your reply kind regards Noeline
Biggest questions... 1) can you play quickly on the X version? The previous version had key travel which made this difficult. 2) are the speakers underneath on both, resulting in a muffled sound ontop of a table (without a stand) 3) what is the size and weight difference
answer to 1: key travel is kinda intentional. You can play fast, you just gotta adapt to it. Key travel is a feature of ALL acoustic pianos, so it's replicated in digital pianos
@@kidflersh7807 maybe I'm not using the right terminology but this was a problem specific to the Roland fp series. Pressing the same key quickly in succession made it more difficult for faster pieces.
Thanks so much for supporting our channel! :) The Roland FP30X and Roland RP501R have a lot of similarities, particularly in terms of the touch and sound given that they both use the PHA4 action and SuperNATURAL tone engines. With that said, they will obviously offer you something a little different in terms of aesthetics. Furthermore, the FP30X is a newer model and, accordingly, has Roland's most cutting-edge tech. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
Hi! Brent here! While it is a matter of subjectivity of course, I prefer the sound of the ES120 over the FP30X, but the I prefer the PHA4 action of the FP30X over the RHC action of the ES120. I know this may not be particularly helpful, as it is very difficult to choose between these two excellent pianos, but that is the truth.
Can I have your and others honest opinion. I am a beginner and plan on buying a beginner piano like this because I don't know if I can completely tell the difference in sound and key action yet. But if you had the money, would you buy the Kawai ES 920? Do you think it sounds and plays a lot better? Thank you.
There aren't any rhythms. It's a digital piano, not a synth. There are built-in demo pieces for each sound, and a metronome for practice-but that's the most automated playback you get from an instrument like this. It's more about performance than on-board sequencing or dance music.
Anyone knows if we can send voices from an external device to the FP30(x) as the Yamaha P-125 can since it has an audio interface built-in? Thanks in advance.
How would you say the FP30 (and X) compare in action and sound quality to Casio's AP710? Imagine they both cost the exact same (which it does somehow in my country) which one should I get for a practice piano?
The manager of my local music store told me a major microchip factory in Asia burned down, leaving many of the instrument makers without parts. Before that, there was the disruption of the pandemic. They're only now starting to catch up.
Now prices skyrocket from $500 to around $700 on FP 30X. FP30X gets same price as Kawai KDP 110, that is nice alternative to this lovely Roland digital piano.
I've never seen them for 500 and I've checked many sites, and a few months ago purchased an FP-30, and again, having checked many sites, it's around a 700 dollar piano period.
@@Artcore103 You didn't check the first prices, they moved from $500 to $700 after few days. Market prices goes up after huge demand, first prices must be one of the PR stunts. I have watched prices closely.
Try living in Canada! Two choices- down payment for a house, or a mid priced digital piano. lol Honestly, Merriam should file a protest to Roland in Japan about the differences between wholesale prices in the US and Canada. We're getting hosed.
There have definitely been some upgrades to the speaker system and overall sonic experience. I don't know if it is a placebo effect, but I do notice a slightly more refined sound in the headphone experience for the FP30X. With that said, in my opinion, it is less drastic than the speaker sound differences.
Thank you kindly! Unfortunately, there are a lot of latency issues when it comes to using wireless Bluetooth headphones. This is the case with the vast majority of digital instruments. Hopefully, it will become a more viable option in the near future for all Bluetooth-equipped digital piano models! :)
One question? Does the lettering/ selections stand out more on the white piano or black version. Are the markings gray or black on the white piano. My eyes aren't great anymore and I want to know which color piano it's easier to see the selection letters/words. My luck , they would put gray instead of easy to see black on white.
Not sure which would be better, but there's not many buttons so you'll very quickly remember which buttons do what. If it's an issue though, I recommend getting a piano with a screen that's easy to read for you.
badass sound, FP30x is warmer and less metallic I don't like that they loaded many more sounds, we wouldn't like for Yamaha and Roland to start competing on quantity at the expense of quality later on, they already do this with their performance keyboards like MX88 and Juno-DS88.
most underrated piano channel ever
Yeah, never a bad word on any of the products they sell.

I have the (old) FP 30. It's a consideration. Except for the fact I would like a built-in display, which would require the FP 60x. Right now I'm not serious about upgrading.
Boy ! This review really blew me ! I need a Roland FP-30X now !!! Thanks!
Would love to hear a similar comparison between the FP-60 and FP-60x
Wow. I was fooled into ordering a FP30 that came with a free stand because I was put under the impression that the only difference were the addition of some monitor outputs and improved bluetooth. I just canceled and went for the FP30X.
do you already have the FP30X?
and also, did u have another option? like I am between Yamaha p125 or roland FP30
A salesperson told me that too! He said the FP30X was not worth the increased price. Good thing I haven't bought it.
o piano fp30x é o pior piano digital do marcado .sua ação de teclas joga contra você em peças rápidas e virtuosas.
You're killing it with your videos, Stu. I learn a ton from you! Thanks.
Just note to myself ->
Table comparison 1: 9:54
Table comparison 2: 18:56
I can't wait for your FP-60X review. The price came down significantly and now it's reasonable to consider above the FP-30X
Yes, it has usb-audio
That’s insane! You might’ve just convinced me to pull the trigger and get the 30x.
That's great news about the middle register improvement. And having proper line outputs is a deal breaker for one person I know.
I just got my Roland fp30x after watching many reviews, and boy i am not disappointed with the piano and speaker sound. Worth every penny for me.
Just need to sell my FP-30 now ;-)
Hei Gord, how much are you willing to part your fp-30 for? I am talking about local pick up.
-- Many Roland Piano don't have even a Display, so "Roland Piano App" IS BIG HELP for faster/easier Settings, and also to use ADDITIONAL SOUNDS/TONES that are not available directly from the Piano (but they're there inside)
So we contacted Roland (Via our registered instrument-Support) requesting that the app does not demand internet for those features that don't require it.
@@PabloVazquezVisualArts WOW That’s really important to know way before purchasing! Would you have a current update ?
The best digital keyboard content on YT! Just adding an "x" turned out to be a big improvement and sure to upset recent FP-30 buyers everywhere. I just wish they could have made it lighter (no more than 25pds is my gigging keyboard sweet spot). A standalone 3-pedal board would also be nice.
FP-30's have been unavailable for the past 8 months or so. This is why. I believe.
@@justsaybobby I could have bought one new here in Tokyo recently. Glad I didn't.
@@martian-sunset here in the US it has been unavailable.
@@justsaybobby Looks like you can still buy one at Sweetwater...although I'm not sure why anyone would...
Did you actually own the fp-30 for several years to make this type of statement or just a newbie owner of the line and assuming?
I had an early Yamaha electric keyboard that had 3 sounds. The keyboard made a racket, but the action was okay. I was plugged into an amp or headphones and never paid the keyboard noise any mind. I do have a Roland FP-30x on the way and your review is awesome, thank you!
I got my fp30 last year. Im still inlove with it. Im sure fp30x is better but Ill upgrade the next time they upgrade and go for a higher tier model. Fp90x
I've just bought mine one month ago, and then the fp 30x goes into the market aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
@@MrBrayan1299 yeah! Same here )) but i do love my fp-30. May be in a couple years i’ll upgrade. For now it makes its job excellent. :)
Have u experienced clicky on clunky keys at all? I heard its a common issue.
Excellent review. The stereo PA out jacks has sold it for me. Buying a FP30X :-)
I don't think the 30x's tone can be beaten in that price range
I hope he compares the 30x to the 60x and maybe a triple smack down by adding the fp-90x. Is the 90x worth the extra money and weight? I say yes.
@@JoeLinux2000 I used to have an fp90, but I returned it. I hope fp90x fixed it's issues. can't wait for a review
@@theHanumanking what are the issues with fp90?
except for Casio 1000 which is much cheaper and has newer action sensors, but Merriam strangely forgets to mention the Privia sensor in current video when he compares fp30x to Kawai, Korg and Yamaha.
Will you be doing similar videos for the FP90X? Thanks.
Hi Stu, Any reviews on Roland RP 30?
Thank you very much, its very nice comparison, as usual all of your videos are great.
I would love a video to listen many of the Voices in the Piano :(
What about the new app? I heard that it leaves a lot to be desired. I hope they improve it soon
Outstanding review, as always. Thank you very much!
As for pianos with low key noise, the Casio PXS instruments have light and very quiet actions. The new RHC action in the ES120 has also been reinforced with more cushioning, which also makes for a very quiet key. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
Thank you so much for the detailed explanations! I found everything that interested me
Thanks for talking more about the action Stu! Would really like to hear the let off noise or noise of the keys in general for future videos. Thanks!
I love your reviews, thanks for your work
I feel like the polyphony rating is often misrepresented, as if the 128 limit just means you can't play 128 notes at the same time. But doesn't that also count all of the "strings" that are having sympathetic resonance? It's entirely possible a beginner or intermediate pianist will come up against that limit.
Thanks for the reviews! I'm just searching around youtube for reviews to tide me over until mine arrives some time next month.
Same here! Can’t wait till mine comes in. What color did you go with ?
where did you bought it ?
@@Ls3Atomicvette I went with black.
I ordered it through a local music shop in Austria, where I live. It hasn't arrived yet.
These videos are so helpful. I'd love to see one between the FP30x and the Kawaii ES110 now if possible.
What an amazing comparison. Stu is the man. The only thing I would change is the outro.
@@joewger 520 has led menu
Hi Stu. great channel and vlogs.
I can certainly understand that analogy! The extra resonance definitely adds a bit more nuance and depth. :)
are the piano stands different?? It seems shaky when he plays the FP30 but very stable on the FP30x.
Thanks for this video really informative, and the other video was a good review with some good playing. I have the FP30 and am thinking of upgrading to the FP30x. I have the wooden stand with the pedal board, so its good to know its compatible.
Thanks again for the wonderful review, Stu. In terms of key mechanical noise, which models would you rate quieter and louder than the PHA-4?
Hi! Brent here! Thanks for tuning in! The Casio PXS models and Kawai ES120 are a little quieter in terms of key noise in my opinion. Thanks again and all the best! :)
The sound quality on the new FP30X is way ahead of the old version, the piano sound on the FP30 always sounded kind of toy like to my ear but on the new keyboard it's really starting to sound reasonably good.
you said that the pha50 keyaction is very durable according to specs. is this the same case on the kawai ca79 keyaction?
Hello Stu, can you please tell me how the roland rp 501 compares with fp 30x considering the flagship concert grand piano sound when connected to external speaker (not the onboard speakers). Thanks🙏
Fantastic comparison, Stu.
Thanks, this review will probably make the difference for me
I was curious if the speakers can be replaced by better ones?
The good news is that virtually all digital pianos now are MIDI compatible, which means that you can certainly transfer MIDI files over via USB and play them back through the piano.
You can check out Stu's review of the model here:

Thanks and all the best!
2) are the speakers underneath on both, resulting in a muffled sound ontop of a table (without a stand)
3) what is the size and weight difference
answer to 1: key travel is kinda intentional.
Huge fan sir... how do we compare Roland FP 30X(with kdp 70 pedal and ksc 70 stand) with Roland RP 501R ?
Thanks so much for supporting our channel! :)
The Roland FP30X and Roland RP501R have a lot of similarities, particularly in terms of the touch and sound given that they both use the PHA4 action and SuperNATURAL tone engines.
With that said, they will obviously offer you something a little different in terms of aesthetics. Furthermore, the FP30X is a newer model and, accordingly, has Roland's most cutting-edge tech. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
@@MerriamPianos Thank you for such clarity and promptness
why did you plug the pedal only to the fp-30x?
Hi. How would you compare the Roland FP-30X to the Kawai ES-120? Especially in sound quality.
Hi!
Thank you.
Hi, new subscriber here. What piano stand(s) are you using in this video? Thank you!
How many and what rhythms are on board of 30 and 30 X ( without the application)? And what voices are added to 30X? Make a sound demo, pl.to compare
There aren't any rhythms. It's a digital piano, not a synth. There are built-in demo pieces for each sound, and a metronome for practice-but that's the most automated playback you get from an instrument like this. It's more about performance than on-board sequencing or dance music.
I got the Fp 30. Do you think there's any posibility to sell it to purchase the newest? Isn't it too old ?
are we likely to see the upgraded version of roland fp 10 that is roland fp 10x in 2021 ??
no there won't be a fp10x bro
Anyone knows if we can send voices from an external device to the FP30(x) as the Yamaha P-125 can since it has an audio interface built-in? Thanks in advance.
I hope they have a software update similar or better to the sound of FP(X) Pianos in RD-88
How would you say the FP30 (and X) compare in action and sound quality to Casio's AP710? Imagine they both cost the exact same (which it does somehow in my country) which one should I get for a practice piano?
The FP30 series both out of stock in many countries. I cannot find them in my areas.
The manager of my local music store told me a major microchip factory in Asia burned down, leaving many of the instrument makers without parts. Before that, there was the disruption of the pandemic. They're only now starting to catch up.
Awesome review. Suscribed!!
It's like if Edward Norton's character from fight club, but he's just a normal dude
hi new subscriber but could anyone tell me the song that was being played throughout the video, like at 1:20 & 4:45
Now prices skyrocket from $500 to around $700 on FP 30X.
@@someguyfromarcticfreezer6854 ah that makes sense. Kinda like new GPU msrp prices... total bs just marketing lol.
The FP-10 has been going for around $500 for some time, and I think they plan on continuing that. Maybe that's what you were seeing?
Try living in Canada! Two choices- down payment for a house, or a mid priced digital piano. lol Honestly, Merriam should file a protest to Roland in Japan about the differences between wholesale prices in the US and Canada. We're getting hosed.
should I buy the FP-30x even though it costs 250$ more then the FP-30 in my country?
Could it be that they simply put the better speakers there? What's the sound difference in headphones?
There have definitely been some upgrades to the speaker system and overall sonic experience. I don't know if it is a placebo effect, but I do notice a slightly more refined sound in the headphone experience for the FP30X. With that said, in my opinion, it is less drastic than the speaker sound differences.
Excellent review. It definitely would be nice if the blue tooth allowed one to use wireless heads.
Thank you kindly! Unfortunately, there are a lot of latency issues when it comes to using wireless Bluetooth headphones. This is the case with the vast majority of digital instruments. Hopefully, it will become a more viable option in the near future for all Bluetooth-equipped digital piano models! :)
Looks like a round five-pin MIDI connector on back near corner. Yes?
Nope. You are probably looking at the port for the 3 pedal.
If it's an issue though, I recommend getting a piano with a screen that's easy to read for you.
badass sound, FP30x is warmer and less metallic
I don't like that they loaded many more sounds, we wouldn't like for Yamaha and Roland to start competing on quantity at the expense of quality later on, they already do this with their performance keyboards like MX88 and Juno-DS88.
Thank you so much for this
This was brilliant thank you
