Proof that Gryffindors can be bullies too. Proof that Slytherins can be victims of bullying too.
@Rohan Chatterjee
lol James pathetic.
I bet you think snape was a hero
@Jay Ryan but don’t you know? A teenager was mean! He definitely can’t have gotten better! Snape is such a poor victim that he just *had* to abuse children!
@Rohan Chatterjee
Correct!
@Jay Ryan
“Yeah but he bullied a racist child abuser so it’s all good”
“Racist”
Severus was primed to hate muggles, cause the only two muggles he ever really knew were Petunia and his father
His father was an abusive drunk who hit Severus and his mother and was a terrible person.
Petunia made fun of him and his clothes, and was a complete jerk to him, she even made him lash out and made a tree branch fall on her.
They both gave him a TERRIBLE impression on muggles. He thought muggleborns were basically the same. And Severus was sorted into Slytherin, he was surrounded by death eater Slytherins, and he shared a dorm with them, who else is he supposed to be friends with? Him joining the death eaters was a result of his childhood and the environment of the Slytherin house in general. And just because he became a death eater or used the term “Mudblood” doesn’t cancel out the fact that James is a prick and a creep who had sexually harassed Lily’s best friend. And I’m sorry, but how is Severus a racist? He doesn't go around saying stuff like goblins should have all died in the goblin rebellions, treat house-elves horribly, or sneer at centaurs and call them half-breeds. That's all Dolores Umbitch and she's the HP character that can be called a racist. “Mudblood” is a criticism of you parentage, not your race. It's classist, not racist. There’s some overlap with racism but the real racism in the wizarding world is against non-humans.
“Child abuser”
Severus wasn’t a TERRIBLE teacher in Wizarding standards. Every single teacher at Hogwarts is a monstrosity compared to our society’s standards.
Severus is not *physically* abusive to students. Now, before you jump and say that he hit Ron and Harry...
1. That was a movie thing that never happened in the books. In that GoF scene, that’s mild and used for comedic relief and most definitely didn’t hurt them.
2. If it actually did happen in the books... so what? Hogwarts is an old fashioned school and the Harry Potter series took place in the 90s, only a few years after it became illegal for teachers to hit students. Him just being an old fashioned teacher that gave harmless book slaps doesn’t mean he abuses them or means that he’s evil. A slap to the back of the head would be minimal compared to anything filch wanted to do.
Severus, yes, is a jerk but he doesn’t physically harm them. Yeah, he insults them from time to time but he knows his limits. Other teachers actually are physically abusive. Calling someone “bad at potions” doesn’t put them in a hospital. If you think petty insults are worse than physical violence, then you gotta sort out some issues.
McGonagall grabbed Draco by the ear in PS when she caught him out of bed, and she sent a bunch of 11 year olds into the Forbidden Forest at night, where there’s Centaurs, Giant Spiders, and some noseless dude killing unicorns.
McGonagall punishes students, especially Neville, in ways which actually put their lives in danger! McGonagall is nearly as rude to Neville as Severus is, often takes points off him and punishes him in ways which put his life in danger. She sends him into a midnight wood full of man-eating Giant Spiders when he is 11, and when he’s 13 she forces him to stand outside in the corridor by the Fat Lady, for weeks, waiting for somebody to let him in. Oh, and when there’s a mass murderer on the loose who has been hanging around the Fat Lady with a great, big knife. We’re told that she did it to humiliate and punish Neville, not as a security - yet nobody ever asks “Why does McGonagall mistreat Neville?”
Trelawney threw a book at Seamus in OoTP. Hagrid gave Dudley a pig’s tail in PS and he had to get it surgically removed. Hagrid holds Draco up to ridicule and encourages the class to jeer at him for not wanting to do extra work with the Skrewts.
Fake moody/Barty Crouch Jr. turned Draco into a ferret and punishes him by slamming him repeatedly against a stone floor as he screams in pain.
Don’t forget about that psychotic, pompous, pink, clad porcupine - you already know who I’m talking about. No need to list all the things she’s done.
All of you Snaters single out Severus who only mocks and insults his students even though the other teachers are a million times worse than him.
Bully them? Yeah, I’ll give you that. But *abuse them?* Absolutely not!
And even if Severus DID abuse children. He TOTALLY deserves to be bullied as a teenager for something he did... twenty years later. They didn’t bully him because he was a blood-supremacist, they bullied him because he was an easy target and they could get away with it.
@@jovanym2931
Is he not? Snape defected Lord Voldemort - The Darkest Wizard of all time and the best Legillimens in existence - and fought against him for years and sacrificed his own life in the process and saved the entire Wizarding World. You probably missed that part.

Dude that year was 1907, and Professor McGonagall was born at 1935.
She used a time turner to go back in time
These films just butcher the HP lore. During the class inspection in 1995, Umbridge asks McGonagall how long she’s been teaching at Hogwarts and she says “39 years this December”. So she would have started teaching in 1956 roughly by those numbers. And she did work for the Ministry briefly before coming to Hogwarts.
And yet here she is teaching in 1916-17...
Also, there’s no way in hell she’d chase after a student like that! Minerva McGonagall isn’t to be messed with.
It’s because Warner Bros only wanted to make the film don’t think they read the book just to create the movie
@@putanginamomaeanne But J.K. Rowling (author of the Harry Potter books) wrote the screenplay and has complete creative control over the entire Wizarding World franchise. I think at this point she’s more concerned with making money and pushing her identity politics than telling a good story.

@Rohan Chatterjee ordered by draco.
not all Slytherins have no choice... Draco was almost an exception because of how close his parents were to Voldy... A lot of them did have a choice and went down the wrong path intentionally (just like the other Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, and few Hufflepuffs that became death eaters). And the only reason people don't like Slytherins is because there are a bunch that are mean pure-blood supremacists in Slytherin (they don't automatically go to Slytherin, but there happens to be an extremely high concentration of them there - I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Salazar not liking muggles and muggle-borns).
But I'm pretty sure that's mostly changed by the time Harry's children started going to school.
Poor McGonagall, she's been dealing with this shit forever and still had to fight in the battle of Hogwarts.

No. M. G. McGonagall was a student in 1971. Possibly a niece or nephew of Minerva's, and child of one of her brothers.

Too they don't have a famous wizard/witch on their team be friends with the headmaster to get bonus points whenever they're losing.
Dippet or whoever was headmaster back then loved Slytherins, they probably would still win.
Ok guys ! in the scenes in this film it is not occasionally ir directly mentioned that the character is Minerva McGonagall, so it is likely that it is her mother or sister.
Bellatrix became Lestrange after marrying Rodolphus Lestrange she was Bellatrix black before .
(No hate)
Obviously
It's the way they could just going into editing and change the last name to literally anything else.
It's even funnier when McGonagall zips that girl's mouth back after she undoes Leta's spell
Minerva could have been deliberately obfuscating about her length of time as a teacher. It is possible that she would have been teaching at Hogwarts for 39 years as Head of the Transfiguration Department (as the film shows Dumbledore teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts) and was referring to that whilst leaving out how long she had been teaching prior to assuming that title.
This character didn't have to die

Where this clips come from?
The second Fantastic Beasts movie
Listen, I know McGonagall wasn't born yet during this time in HP novel canon, but I think we can all agree the films are most definitely set in a different continuity, and therefore don't need to follow the same rules. For example, while the novels take place in the 1990s, the films take place in the 2000s (a newspaper reads 2001 in the first movie, and the Millennium bridge is destroyed in the sixth movie) so I think we can forgive the change of McGonagall being alive a lot earlier than she's supposed to be.

At the same time McGonagall did not agree with using spells on students, which was major point for her character in fourth and fifth book.
Y'all can be so dumb. This is obviously McGonagall's mother or older sister. Maybe even an aunt. As if Minnie McGee is the only McGonagall in the Harry Potter universe.
She doesnt have an older sister tho lmao
A. McGonagall only had younger brothers, not sisters.
B. Isobel McGonagall, Minerva's mother, was a disgraced, only child witch who eloped with a muggle reverend at the age of 18. She never taught at Hogwarts.
Unless JK wants to change her entire timeline (which she evidently is open to), that doesn't work.
1. She has no sister
2. Her dad is a muggle and her aunt couldn’t have the McGonnagal name if she were a witch
3. Her mum didn’t use magic from 18 too the rest of her life because she had a muggle husband and didn’t want him to know she was a witch until Minerva was showing magic!
The fact that jk Rowling herself wrote this really feels like it’s setting up a big twist regarding Minerva

Potter more and wiki says she wasn’t even born yet and I believe when umbridge questions her she says that she’s been teaching about 40 years meaning she couldn’t have been teaching here
I read many of the comments about professor McGonagall and I don't know anything about the lore, I never had the chance to read the books but maybe we can just PRETEND that the Minerva McGonagall that we saw in the Fantastic Beasts movies was professor McGonagall's AUNT on her father's side and at some point she died so her brother (McGonagall's father) named his daughter after her because he loved his sister so much, or I don't know maybe we can say that before meeting and marrying McGonagall's mother and having a daughter, in his youth he had a crush on a girl called Minerva (which happened to be his cousin or relative or simply just of the McGonagall family) or whatever and he named his daughter after her, just use your imagination people. I know it's not canon but come on.... I think it's a pretty cool explanation. Like if you agree😁
