I have 3 solo trips coming up this year. I only am carrying one tote bag. Thank you for the soap suggestion. My goodness, I pack way too many toiletries. Have a great time in Miami. The weather is beautiful right now.🎉🎉 (I'm an old lady, you are adorable ❤)
I used to pack many toiletries too but I am so glad I find these all in one soaps, really convenient when travelling! Thank you for your kindness, and good luck for your 3 solo trips! 😄 ☀️
Dr. Bronner's comes in liquid concentrate as well (my preferred soap) and you should be able to find the tiny airplane approved size as well. Since it's a concentrate, it will still last you a long time and won't leave you with the problem of a wet bar of soap to deal with.
I am loving your videos! I hope you never change this ONE thing that is SO refreshing. You do your videos all 'live'...no 'out takes' or whatever. You don't stop and start your videos constantly. And you're just such a lovely person who has GREAT ideas and content to help us all be 'less' than what we think we need to be! Love the undies 'hack'.....haha.
good tips, they're very focused on the environment, that's interesting. i think some tips i have are to try to use devices that have the same connection (for example USB-C) in everything. shaver, chargers, battery, etc. and for convenience, there are some organizers that help keep different things compartmentalized and tidy in the backpack, and those come in handy at airports or when unpacking in the hotel/apt for example. i personally have ridden camels for example and as an experience it's interesting and there's novelty there but i probably wouldn't do it again. the whole "infrastructure" around them (mostly human "infrastructure" i guess, the people handling the camels, the places where they're kept etc) seems suboptimal. Wouldn't say they're horrible conditions, it's probably better than factory farming or w/e but it feels strange to contribute to that whole thing.
I absolutely love your philosophy on buying souvenirs and showing love in more meaningful ways. Thanks for sharing that…I think that gets lost these days. On another note, would love to hear your beauty routine (hair, face). Thanks again for your inspiration :)
I used Couchsurfing a lot 15 years ago, i hosted so many persons. And i used it pretty much a lot too when i was travelling as well. Great experiences 😊
Hello Louise, i just discovered your channel and i want to say: thank you! You inspire me so much, you remind me how i used to live as a child. I always had like one pair of shoes i would wear until they were broken, one jacket etc and it was such an easy life. I was happy and content and all my things were dear to me. I aspire to declutter my life soo much and i am working on it every day.
Hello Sophia, yeees that’s exactly what I thought on minimalism when I discovered it : seems like childhood ! No makeup, no hair done, clothes that I adore, etc 😃 I’m glad that I can inspire you on your minimalist journey 🩷
Thank you for sharing! For a future video I'd love to know where to shop for clothes as a minimalist and how do I find sustainable brands? Love from Egypt!
My top 5 travel items to reduce waste are: 1. Water bottle 2. Face mask 3. Cutlery (spoon, fork, knife, chopsticks, straw) 4. Coffee cup 5. Tote bag I also got a short book called Go Lightly by Nina Karnikowski which has lots of great tips for travelling without hurting the planet. Great video!
I’m so glad I found your channel, you are giving me things to think about as I try to become even more minimalist than I already am! Also you have such beautiful eyes!!!
Hi Louise I am a minimalist myself, though not as hardcore as you are and I love how passionate you are. You gotta come to Australia you would be blown away by the nature
Would love to hear more about how your hair had to adapt to the one-soap. I tried using a soap that RUclipsr, The Exploravore, Alicia uses, but gave up because it made my hair so heavy. I have fine hair so I thought it was because of that, but you said it takes time for your hair to adjust. Do you have fine hair or thick hair? It’s hard to tell from the video. Anyways, any pointers would help. I’d really like to use the one-soap for everything. It seems so cost-effective and better for the environment. Thank u and I’m happy you’re enjoying Miami. That is where I grew up. 😃
Hello Carrie ! I have thick hair, I used the all-one soap during my trip to Miami and my hair was so heavy and greasy too ! It is really uncomfortable yes, but it is just because our hair is letting go of so many chemicals on it, and yes, I read that it can take one month to have normal and shiny hair again. I have regular shampoo to finish at my home so I use them for now, but then I what to use one soap for my face-body-hair, and I know the first weeks are going to be challenging but I’m convinced it is so worth it, both economically, regarding the environment and to have natural healthy shiny hair again 😊
I always travel light carrying only 1 backpack with me. I carry with me my lightest clothes to save space. I dont pack jeans as much as possible. I also use the same pajamas (it's kind of a mini satin dress to save up space intended for the bottoms) for 3 nights. I actually dont wash my clothes while i'm out of town but I don't sweat much so it's fine. Lastly, I use the same clothes from when I'm off to my destination and when I fly back home. I'll be traveling for 7 days in september (which is probably my longest). I'm actually not sure yet how to pack everything in one backpack but I know I can figure this out 😅 Also I'm working on minimizing my plastic use as i still find it hard to not use plastic cellophanes since it's the most commonly used here. Although I have an eco bag with me when i go to the market, There are still stuff that needs to put in cellophanes (like wet goods) so yeah. Shampoos that come in sachets are usually cheaper here too, which is kind of sad.
You’ll be fine with one backpack for your trip in September, I don’t know where you are going but if it’s not a cool weather you can pack similarly from me :) For the body soap / shampoo, have you tried solid shampoo? It is great to reduce the amount of plastic you consume 🙂
@@minimalou_yt Solid shampoo could be a good option. I might try if I can see stores nearby selling it. I recently stopped using conditioner as it adds to the plastic waste I contribute. Thanks for the solid shampoo recommendation though! In case I'm tempted to pack more than I need (like adding just-in-case stuff) I'll think of everything you've said 😅
Thank you so much for so many great ideas! I am in a long distance relationship and want to travel as much as possible to be with them, but I need to do it within my budget. This is very helpful :)
Thank you for your tips! I was surprised about your concern for the environment but in a good way. I try to eat organic as much as possible and at least here in the states there has been a disturbing trend toward wrapping all organic produce in plastic. Unfortunately, I'm sure that it's at least partially due to people who remove the organic tags so they don't have to pay as much. I'm happy to pay organic farmers because they have a lot of competition (big GMO growers) and also have to jump through more hoops and pay for certification. The whole system is unreal since it wasn't so long ago when "organic" was what all produce was. Anyhow, I buy organic and recycle the packages but that not be the easiest thing to do when traveling.
Completely agree with everything you said ! Yes, it is crazy when you think about it that “organic” food used to be just “food”… Thank you for great comment 😉
I'm vegan, too. So I understand what you taiking about caring animals or foods or plastic things. Anyway have fun with your family in Miami! and take care
I see what you mean by exploiting animals and reducing them to a mean to an end. I think it's really sad that we always have and still are using both animals and nature for utilitarian and financial purposes solely. A forest is reduced to timber and so it loses all its magic and its mystery, which is great. Lovely video and so are you ❤ 🙏
I’d love to see your meal plan or what you eat in a week when cooking at home
Noted! Thanks for the idea ☺️
