    Thanks! I make this in a crock pot last year for Christmas and it was a huge hit. Nay-sayers need to chill out. “Commercial liquor labeled as moonshine is typically one of two things: neutral grain spirits (of which vodka is a subcategory) or unaged whiskey. And as described above, the difference between the two options is really just the production process (primarily the proof at distillation).”

    Now this is something you would find around these parts of NC. All kinds of fruits and berries. They leave nothing to waste around here. Great job.

      That's awesome. I try to not waste my fruits and veggies but sometimes its hard to find the time to harvest everything so I usually share with friends and family.

      Funny how that works, may not fit into your "moonshine" encyclopedia, but I'd bet it'll get just as drunk. I'll take some of that for all the haters .......hahahaa

      Made In Poverty the legal definition in the US specifically states a clear liquor distilled from corn.

      It is absolutely moonshine. She merely cut out the distillation step. Any any fruit added after is commonly reffered to as "back sweetening". I know this well. My great uncles ran shine.
      Absolutely nothing wrong with her referring to it as moonshine.

      Don,t be technical. I distill-moonshine and its almost exactly the same as everclear. The recipe is great and in the end its a great drink. Don,t miss the point over small details

    Curious what the ABV is after a week? How about after 5 months? Also, what if instead of Everclear I used Rum or Vodka? Or....lol....what if no extra alcohol added at all?

    Nicely done and described! We have 8 cherry trees in our yard in Maryland and I was curious if there was a way to use those cherries....other than standing on a ladder and eating them. I guess my only question is....what is an instant pot?

    Any idea approximately how much Everclear you are adding? I would like for mine to end up around 70-80 proof.

    • @cookingwithalittlespice
      @cookingwithalittlespice  6 лет назад +2

      If you want it to be about 70-80 proof add about half of the jar with Everclear but be careful it's very smooth so you might not even notice the alcohol taste.

    If you don't have that cooker should I boil the water?

    • @cookingwithalittlespice
      @cookingwithalittlespice  6 лет назад

      Not boil. You will want to cook all of the ingredients (except the Everclear) in a pan on simmer for about 30 minutes. Let it cool completely before adding the alcohol.

    Pouring hot liquid into plastic containers guarantees a lot more plastic into your mix. Fermenting acidic liquids does the same in a plastic container. Ferment in glass and stir in glass to void the plastic.

    I was thinking of growing a fruit tree (maybe apples or cherries), but are there a lot of bees that fly around?

    • @cookingwithalittlespice
      @cookingwithalittlespice  6 лет назад

      Yeah I hate bees flying around. I would say I don't see very many bees flying around with my cherry tree. My pear tree has the worst with bees and wasps. I almost want to chop that tree down :(

    How long does this stay good for ?
    Does the alcohol preserve it ? Did you can it ?
    So many questions 🤣

    • @cookingwithalittlespice
      @cookingwithalittlespice  5 лет назад

      It stays good for a really long time if it's preserved (like years). I keep mine in the fridge. The alcohol does preserve it so if your pantry is a cool dark place then it's fine there. I didn't can mine because it has Everclear in it.

    You cant buy everclear here. The closest is if you know a doctor who can prescribe doctors liquor - its 96% so more or less the same.
    Like that pitter also :)

    All right .I appreciat every one who is making effort to record and put some video on RUclips. But ,,my little cherry pie,, It is not a moonshine .Its call maceration.when you infuse any fruit in alcohol you need to wash and put clean cherries ,of course . to do Jar ,But the fruit ,cherries ,in this case does need to be cooked. you are destroying all the ,,goodies,,enzymes, etc. But any way you are lucky you have cherries trees.
