Everybody, lets just have a moment of silence and respect for OB, one hell of stagecoach driver and all around everyman.
Yes.
The one righteous man.
He was twice the man joe gage was
poor O.B drinkin a cup of joe
He was worth 10 of them!
"Dear Marquis, I hope this letter finds you in good health and stead. I'm doing fine, although I wish there were more hours in the day. It's just so much to do. That's What You Get For Waking Up In Vegas ole mary Todd is calling, that's a nice touch
Heh. Thanks
Two men, white and black, who fought on opposing sides in a war, dying side by side, united at last. These two men bled together, and as they laid on that bed, all their differences melted away.
Ole Mary Todd. That's a nice touch.
"Heh. Thanks."
R.I.P. Six-Horse Judy
Amen to that
Why do they call her six horse Judy?
@@agismintzi7013 Weil sie die einzige Judy ist die du kennst, die ein Sechser-Gespann fahren kann.😉

+Dan Miller gets me every time
+frank cattano yeah gets me too...
"You killed OB!! He was worth ten of you!.."
"If they all came back but one it was still some mothers son"
Paris Stewart very true!
Paris Stewart
That line gives me chills...
wow.
"If they all came back but one, it was still some Mother's son"
Wow. That's truly a amazing. As a message, line, phrase, or simply saying.
It's extra powerful because it follows a series of increasingly dismal scenarios (50% survival, 25%, then 0%). Then suddenly the best imaginable situation is presented (99.9%), but even that turns out not to be a victory.
The meaning of the line is sumed up in the next
The Fact That Roy Sings "He" Instead Of "It" Makes The Phrase All The More Personal And Powerful.
It's "he" not it. I don't know why the subs are wrong
That line shows the value of human life. Even if there's one casualty, it will be the end of some mother's entire world. We would rather ignore others' suffering, but what if we were the one's who lost a loved one instead of someone else? Would we want others to act with carelessness or empathy?
"As my first and final act as the sheriff of Red Rock, I sentence you, Domergue, to hang by the neck until death." *diabolical laugh*
Mustard-Obsessed hold on daisy, I wanna watch
@A Polish Mercenary Yeah it sure was pretty.
Tarantino just knows how to see the beauty in insanity. Blood and guts on the wall, everyone's dead, good bad and ugly, but somehow in the end, he sweetly ends the carnage with this simple sweet song. I'm not saying he's the perfect filmmaker, but he takes you to a place that rarely a filmmaker does. I hope you all enjoyed the film and saw it 70mm.
Have to disagree with you on one thing... he IS the Perfect filmmaker. ‘Nuff said.
its funny, what you say makes me think of "Taxi Diver" ending, with the travellings of all the blood splatered on walls and corpes lying everywhere...Beauty in death really !
@@vinzelrato
I love how in *The* *Hateful* *eight* everyone dies . When I first heard the music I thought it was # there won't be men ( not many ) coming home because in the film no body survives . The beauty of blood and corpses and the beautiful sound of a good old *Revolver* tearing the flesh
Watch a Tarkovsky movie.
@@thelegendandregomes1258 literally everyone is dead. Including Abraham Lincoln.
The Hateful Eight brought me here. Great movie and satisfying ending.
From movie of " The Hateful Eight" thank you and peace from Japan.
Thanks
peace to you too, brother
Isn't it just all kinds of wonderful when a movie strikes a chord with all sorts of people from across the world.
Might be action, mystery, horror, rom-com, whatever. But an intriguing, engaging story, well written, well directed, well acted and well told that keeps us all focused on the screen until the credits roll - there's something about that which transcends all kind of cultural and linguistic boundaries.
From someone in the UK, enjoying the same American movie as the OP in Japan - peace to you too
Old Mary Todd... that's a nice touch.
Thanks..
(:
Got me on that ,stagecoach, didn't it?
Oh no
Oh, Quentin Tarantino. You find great ways to use music and songs in your films. Thank you for this song at the end of The Hateful Eight. It fits so well with the ending of the film.
I agree wholeheartedly.
+Jared Wignall Face it, Quentin is a God. I love the man (not in a gay way but if I did, I'd be proud to admit it). I've got a high quality pirate copy of The Hateful Eight which I've watched over a dozen times but let me assure you, the day it's legally released on BluRay or even DVD, I'll be first in line at HMV clutching my $29.95 or whatever it costs to show my support for this greatest artist of our time. Glad you picked Roy Orbison's song - As a teen, I grew up a diehard Orbison fan - It's Over, Crying, In Dreams, The Actress, Leah and so many more.
+Gerry Lincoln Hear, hear...same on this end and I can't wait to buy it on Blu-Ray as despite the haters, I find this to be one of his best films, especially in terms of dialogue. I wasn't bored for a MNUTE and I've watched it 5 times already. BTW Every performance is amazing but Walter Coggins' is a revelation....
Gerry Lincoln hmv..!!?? whereis that may I ask some electronics store..!!??
There are a number of HMV stores in Toronto and I imagin if you Google either the song or the store, you should have no truble finding it. Good Luck, But, at any rate, the BluRay/DVD is now legally released. Good luck! :)
“If they all can back but one he was still some mothers son” that one gets me everytime
I'm in love with Six-Horse Judy.

Somebody needs to give Walton Goggin's more leading roles.
I was totally shocked by his talent! His way to speak, his accent his faces...super amazing acting!
Franky Albert Seitz If you haven't seen the Shield, you should check that out. He's great in that.
+Godzilla52 Thanks I didn t see it
He was absolutley incredible in the movie he needs more recognition
+Godzilla52 Right?! Who would have thought it was possible to make people empathize with a racist, hillbilly, (likely) Klansman? That character he played should have been irredeemable, and yet, somehow, even if you don't like him, you get him.

Best line of the movie
Quentin Tarantino has awesome taste in music
He's not the one who picks the songs. He just approves or disapproves if they can be used.
That the usual role a director plays in the music of a film; however I know that Tarantino used to listen to music and imagine movie scenes around them, music is far too vital to his aesthetic to simply approve or disapprove, I'd be highly surprised if there was anyone at all besides him who chooses the music.
He absolutely picks the music for his movies.
Roco - no that's not true haha. Where'd u pull that out of?
John Kim Damn right
"War doesn't determine who's right but only who's left"now thats a fiting quote for this song.
Roy was a heartbreak ballad singer, a rockabilly singer and yes, even a protest singer with this song.
Best line" " If they all came back but one he was still some mother's son".
"When hangman catches you, you hang!"
Loved this line
"You only need to hang mean bastards, but mean bastards you need to hang"
that's a nice touch.
yeah...
fin.
bravo QT
I found the final scene to be weirdly touching for such a fucked up movie...this song helped out a lot!
It was such a crazy movie. It was so fun.
+Sean Gallagher It's because despite the obvious black/white, Union/Confederate differences being presented, the movie's ultraviolence gives a whole new meaning to "we all look the same inside".
MisterKauffman Huh. Never looked at it from that way. Nice.
It's a very angry film! Tarantino's State of the Union speech, and in the last scene don't you think he's basically pitying those pathetic fuckers pacifying themselves in a false nostalgia? That's what I got from it.
+Just Another Guy so true
this is the greatest anti war song ever
Agreed :)
+jordanrb1996 War Edwin Starr
Not necessarily anti-war, but definitely makes you reflect on what war is, and respect those, woman, child or man, who gave everything for their land, which ever that land was.
When there is struggle, we shall struggle together.
It should be up there with "Where Have all the Flowers Gone" and "The Universal Soldier" as popular anti-war songs. Another hidden gem from the late Roy Orbison. (RIP)
bullshit, let's twist again has brought far more peace.
My God his voice is so beautiful. Transcends all time and generations.
Legend has it his was the only voice Elvis "feared."
WITHOUT question down right amazing, this song gave me some serious goose bumps.
Finally got around to watching The Hateful Eight, such a great movie. With a great ending track to wrap it all up.
Well, ain't love grand? Y'all wanna lie on the ground and make snow angels together?
Are y'all havin a bounty hunter picnic?
+Christopher Lagattuta "well, well, well, looks like Minnie's Haberdashery is about to get cozy for the next few days"
Well i'll be double dogged damned! You're the hangman Bob Ruth.
Taratino knows his tunes as much as his films. Legend.
It's from another movie.
@@Pantano63 but he used this in The Hateful Eight
@@kevinlee6003 I know, but it was already used in another movie first (in fact the song it was written for that movie),
@@Pantano63 Dude, that doesn't matter. The guy was commenting how Tarantino knows his tunes for including this song in his movie. Why the hell does the it's origination matter??
@@kevinlee6003 It substracts merit from the action. He used a tune another movie had already used.
This song really grabs me. I've listened to it over and over. The words ring true for every war that took our young men away when many didn't return. I like to think of it as a tribute to those mothers and fathers who lost a son or daughter in battle.
The artful talent of Roy Orbison brought me here.
"Chris crumples the Lincoln letter and throws it away." FADE OUT.
The irony of this song being used again in a serous Western is that it brings the song full circle. I read that Roy wrote this song and several others for his movie The Fastest Guitar Alive back when the film was originally designed to be a serious western, in the vain of Elvis' debut film Love Me Tender. It was only after the success of Cat Ballou and a few other comic-themed westerns that the film was re-fashioned to be a comedy.
+orbison song was not in the fastest guitar alive movie only on album . was used on end credits on movie called the moonshine war 1970 starring richard windmark alan alda and patrick magoohan.
+shilo jones sorry wrong song it was it takes all kinds of people another great song
you can watch the moonshine war 1972 starring patrick magoohan richard windmark and alan alda on youtube
orbison
This song moves me like no other. Something about Roy’s voice.
Perfect song to end a movie to!!
Orbison's the best out there. The most pure, honost, strong, loving voice in music. He was envied by elvis and the beatles, all friends. Not enemies. His songs relate to real life love situations. His music definitely needs to be bought back up and front and respected. And i think these new albums and remasters are the start. Orbison is still loved and missed. He's been a big influence on me musically and socially and im 17. God Bless.
Johnny Cash was the best, but Roy was one of the greatest, and Elvis had a lot of good to say about Mr Cash too.
+RockAllStarsCollaborationProject D ELVIS is the best out there sang more types of songs and has a new record titled If I can dream with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , sales are now 1,114,000 as of Jan 5 2016, how are sales for Mr Orbison dong now ?
+RockAllStarsCollaborationProject D It's so great to know that your generation can appreciate the artistry of a genius that I grew up listening to. I used to ride around on my ten-speed bicycle listening to Roy's music cranked to full volume on my crappy little Sony 8-transistor pocket radio. But that didn't matter - the wonderful music made it all worthwhile. You restore my faith in today's youth, my young friend. God Bless You. :)
+Gerry Lincoln Thank you for your kind words bud. I see that in myself as well. Not to say that there aren't certain songs from my generation that aren't actually too bad. But most of the ones i like from now, include actual instruments and feelings. There's allowed to be ''different'' genres of music, but the best is being over shodowed by the negative ones. God bless you as well. ✌🏼️
Who cares about sales? That proves nothing. I hear Justin Bieber has good sales. Look up the 20 best selling albums in history, Elvis isn't on the list. Which doesn't mean Elvis is not as good or better than those who made those 20 albums, just proves that sales along are an unreliable gauge.
The Hateful 8 was truly one of the best movies i've seen in the past few years. I could watch it a million times.
Another great song sung by the Master Roy Orbison, RIP Roy.
Love from România 🇷🇴 this is beatiful song💣❤
Roy was envied by both Elvis and Bob Dylan, two of the greatest singers and songwriters, respectively, ever. Songs like this, which Roy wrote and performed by the dozens, are why. We won't forget Roy Orbison, and thanks to Quentin Tarantino for reminding us.
Very well stated.
OUTSTANDING!!!! ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!!!
This is how the song should sound, and NOT how someone posted it!!!
This song is so powerful, and rates up there as one of his best, simply the best.
Only other song he made with such a message like this is The Defector, and that is coming soon enough!!!
+Firefighter K. Wann listen to roy orbison sing southbound jericho parkway it is about a suicide
There Won't Be Minnie,
Coming Home
Oh, There Won't Be Minnie,
Sweet Dave Or Judy
No There Won't Be Minnie Coming Home
Still HAUNTS me: Flying to a Science convention many years ago and while waiting at the base of a multi level airport plaza, I noticed that time suddenly stood still with the only sound coming from boots walking in unison at an upper deck. Passers by soon raised their eyes to the troops and broke into a collective round of applause. This scenario repeated itself many times as I waited for my connecting flight. As a Canadian, I was surprised but quickly understood the emotions at work. Those scenes become even more poignant when I listen Roy Orbison’s song “There will not be many coming home”
It's great to see that Roy Orbison's MGM songs are being used today in movies and commercials. There won't be many coming home is used in Hateful Eight, and Ride Away is used in a Geico commercial.
"Old Mary Todd is calling....”
That's a nice touch!
This could just be the song for the new American Revolution. Roy Orbison was a great artist, singer, poet and visionary. Rest easy my Friend😢
Rumors has it; that somewhere up above us, Minne is still looking after her haberdashery.

I wrote what I wrote because I thought it was a valid point (as 13 other people have shown) and I wanted to get it out there for those who are interested, but i didn't want to spoil it for anyone else who has yet to see the movie. At the end of the movie I had tears. I don t why...for the way it ends or the message? for the song? Maybe because the movie finished lol, I would really like a Tarantino movie never end. Maybe I was moved of happiness just for the masterpiece I enjoy. I always happy when I watch a Tarantino movie. Thank you Maestro.
Just saw The Hateful 8 movie and heard this song. Never heard the song before but it is a great one in my mind. Roy Orbison was one of a kind.

Came here because of Hateful Eight. Left wanting to reply rdr2
There Won't Be Many Coming Home got to No.12 in the UK charts at the end of 1966 by Roy Orbison. It is taken from The Fastest Guitar Alive movie, this was the Big O's Christmas offering for 1966.

A good melancholy tune for the end credits. Orbison rules.

they were marginal songs until tarantino recontextualized them. you've got: stuck in the middle with you; bang bang; girl, you'll be a woman soon; son of a preacher man; across 110th street etc..
