- At 48, Roy Orbison's Son FINALLY Admits What We All Suspected
With a career spanning over three decades, Rock icon Roy Orbison was one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
Rocking the sixties with hits like 'Oh, Pretty Woman' and 'Crying', Roy cemented himself as one of the leading stars of the 1960s, before finding a successful career resurgence two decades later. However, Roy’s life was not a bed of rocking roses. After facing numerous tragedies and eventually passing on at the peak of his career resurgence, his son Alex has finally come forward to admit what we've always suspected about his dad. What is it, you ask? Let's get right into it.
There was nobody like Roy Orbison. His voice was one of a kind and loved by many. His music is timeless!
I never suspected Roy of anything. He was just a unique, gifted , and one of a kind singer, period.
There will never be another Roy…a gentle man with a unique and beautiful voice, RIP Roy
Roy was an original, No One sounded like him . All time Classic who will live on forever
Roy Orbison has the best voice ever! He gave us so much beautiful songs. He was also a great person and we will listen to his songs forever❤
I'm a huge fan of Roy Orbison as I grew up from childhood. I'm disappointed, you failed to mention one of Roy's biggest hits, "Blue Bayou," and where it fell during Roy's music career.
🙏 RIP ROY ORBISON 🙏
The secret was he had heart problems& had been having chest pains before his heart attack.
Still love listening to Roy Orbison!
Man, a lot of tragedies in this man's life. He was however blessed with a beautiful voice.
Rest in Peace Mr Roy Orbison. Oh, and by the way Elvis loved Roy's voice. Roy sung some beautiful songs that went on to become huge hits. His most popular ones are not mentioned here, but any Orbison fan knows which ones they are.
Thank you so much for this video.
The Black and White Concert is a remarkable recording of Orbison's world and talent.
Roy was one of a kind. Singer, songwriter, and sweet guitar player.
Only the lonely was one of my all-time favorites .
Saw Roy in the sixties three times in Birmingham. The last time was with his group The Art Movmemt. He sat on a high stool and never stepped off it. Just sang his heart out. Brilliant.
Watched Roy Orbison in concert in Auckland New Zealand in 1964. His singing touched my heart. RIP dear man.❤
Roy, like Elvis and Cash, was a real gift to us. I'm so grateful I was a teen in the 50s and 60s. What a great time to be alive. Thanks,
Roy.
Many people feel an extremely deep love for Roy's music. We do more than just listen to his music: it goes straight to our hearts. I'm touched by the friendship that lives among his three sons.
I worshpped Roy. His first 5 notes to Oh Pretty Woman made me dance around as a 6 year old. He was my inspiration for studying music and patiently waiting tll I got a guitar at age 13. 55 years later I still think of him as the best voice . Even my 80 year old neighbours still borrow the Traveling Wilburys DVD for extended periods of time. He'll go down in musical history as a great, if not, the best singer ever. No-one can match that sound and the octave ranges he could sing. A true great.
Elvis, Roy, and Rick Nelson were my go to singers of the 1960s!!! These legends made my childhood years a thing of wonder and beauty 😍!!! I miss them terribly!!!
One of the loveliest voices I've ever heard . so unusual.
I saw Roy live in London and wow what a show, it was around 72 /73. I remember driving with a friend to a club here in Perth Western Australia when the news came over the radio about Roy's passing, absolutely devastating, he will live on forever with his music 👏👏👏🎶⭐🙏
The most ethereal voice in music history. Unreplaceable.
✨🙏✨RIP ROY ORBISON, GEORGE HARRISON & TOM PETTY . MISSED SO DEEPLY ✨🙏✨✌️💗For Eternity
One song that doesn't get much mention is Pretty Paper, a wonderful Christmas song written by Willie Nelson that Roy recorded on September 11th, 1963, while in London, England. Despite having a 102-degree fever, Roy, with the backing of the Ivor Raymonde orchestra, knocked it out of the park like only he could do with that God-given voice from the heavens. He left us far too soon.
I Love the music of Roy Orbison It was also my Dad's favorite along with Elvis music. RIP.❤
Unique beautiful singing voice. Such emotion in his voice. Always loved him ❤️
Met Roy at one of his Concerts in the 80's. A true Gentleman and very respectful towards the individual who were there to hear him belt out his Music.
Thankful that we have his recordings so as long as we have them, he will never be far from us.
I’ve always loved Roy’s voice and persona. He is above any other solo singer. His high notes gave me chills every time I heard them. He is a beloved Ivan of music. ❤️🎶❤️🎶💖
The Travelling Willberries were great, not just their music but they all looked like they were having a great time. Shame we have lost so many of them. Thanks for the great music and memories. The tribute gig they played for George Harrison was unbelievably great especially for Dhani Harrison, he was a awe especially when Prince came on. OMG I will remember that for the rest of my life. ❤❤❤❤❤
My Wife and I had the privilege to see Roy Orbison live at Lewisham Theatre. Sheer magic. An extremely gifted and very kind man, who had so many tragedies in his life. Fantastic vocal range. A heartfelt thanks to his sons for keeping this very special persons memory alive. Long may it continue. Thank you Lads. Best Wishes to You and Yours.
I always was a fan of his early work, and work with The Travelling Wiburys, his passing was hard for me, having lost my own Father the previous year......it seemed so unfair that he was only 52.....I thought he deserved to live a lot longer. I am so happy that his sons help to keep his memory alive.
i always enjoyed Roy’s music. One memorable performance he had on a variety show was with one Katy Lang, a new and upcoming singer.. They sang «Crying» and she really really knocked it out of the park. She matched his intensity.
Personally, I didn't suspect anything about Roy Orbison and as I couldn't be bothered watching this stuff, I still don't know what his son has finally admitted, or whether it's worth knowing in the first place. I love his music, of course, but that's only reasonably to be expected.
It's amazing how an old '60s song can instantly transport you back in time to a specific emotional feeling, such as sadness, happiness, loneliness, or love.
Elvis said Roy was the greatest singer in the world.
one of the best singers in music history
Roys unique style inspired many famous people his music inspired us all I could listen to him all the time and I never get bored he will never be forgotten we miss you Roy x
HE LOVED GREATLY AND HE'S NOT "CRYING" NOW I HOPE. WHAT A VOICE.
Saw Roy at Sheffield Fiesta early 70s he wad absolutely amazing, his personality, singing and guitar playing were wonderful, such a pleasure to be able to see him. Loved his mysic , Thank you Roy Orbison ,1 of a kind 😍 xx
Love Roys voice.
I still have his album I bought at a drug store while i attended Ferris State College in Big Rspids Mich.
I still have the vision in my mind looking at this album i dearly cherished brfore I bought it in 1967
Thanks for a wonderful story of Roy Orbison, very interesting and emotional, a great star from the past,👍👍👍👍👍👍
I always loved Roy Orbison. Still do. He could really sing.
Elvis once said that Roy was his favourite singer - that says it all!
he was in my heart when I was just 5 years old. Pretty
Woman was on the radio .... I remember crying, singing that song. I heard all of them all through the years. Love you forever.
For sure a unforgettable beautiful voice...
I seen Roy live when he opened for the, Stones around 1965. In Sydney Australia. We all come out of that Concert amazed, Roy was was able too sing as good as his records. As back then there was a lot of lipsicking and not many could pull off live what their records were like and the Stones were also great. 🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
I had the pleasure of seeing Roy in concert in Irvine, California. As we walked to our seats, a security person asked us to stop, and Roy walked to the stage right in front of us. This happened in the mid to late '80s. It was a great concert!
Agree. There was only one “O”. Adore his music and voice. One of a kind.
Truly we will never see his like again .
Truly a one off rest in peace Roy Orbison .
I love Roy he was amazing singer , and no one can ever come close to his unique voice, my special sweet heart and the very best, no one can ever take his place in my heart, just absolutely a beautiful entertainer
An incredible singer & guitarist that shaped the music industry from the 60's to today. Great to see that his boys are together to celebrate their remarkable father & mothers. Thank you Roy; always the Big O from your Aussie fans.
Absolutely beautiful singer.
Roy was certainly unique. I love to sing his songs and listen to him. One of my top five vocalists.
I love all of Roy Orbison's songs.
Nobody could come near his fantastic sound a true icon
The big O. The Voice. Whatever, that man's voice was/is wonderful.
The collaboration of great musicians in Roy orbinson and friends a black and white night was great.
Roy is and always will be my favorite singer.
What a magnificent voice Roy had.
A WONDERFUL SINGER AND PERFORMER,!!!
Your daddy was an amazing man…im 77…Newcastle, UK..guess I was about 16…long story short…Roy, Gerry Pacemakers, Beatles…Gerry set off, fire extinguisher backstage …i was told to go with John….icky feeling…said im going with him…your dad…always follow instinct’s…your dad…lovely…gentleman…never forget him.
Back in the days when artists actually had talent RIP Roy
A wonderful human being and a lovely singer. Can't believe he died at the age of 52. Never mind Roy, you are in Heaven now - peace be upon you forever!
It is very sad when a son has something to say about his dad one of the greatest singers in the past 70 years, after Elvis passed it was nown Roy's time to shine and shine he did I was very lucky to see him play just before he passed. If his son is trying to make money talking about how Roy was dying his hair i am far from shocked. It's is a very sad word we are living in that's for dam sure
I fell in love with your dad's voice in the 60's when I heard him sing Only the lonely. Beautiful voice gave me chill bumps. ❤
I have been a lietime fan of Roy and I was over the moon when his family manage to get 2 albums together with the voice of Roy backed By the LSO .My favourite track is a Love so beautiful and it just showcased the magic of his voice . The word legend is often used to describe a user talent but boy did Roy set a standard to earn that title .Roy's unique voice is certainly a one off and his music is still enjoyed today and I am sure will continue to be the case for years to come.
Best voice ever, amazing talent!
I was listening to a radio talk show about 2018 & the host was interviewing two of the sons. They let it be known that in addition to the video a "Black & White Night" there are other shows that were videotaped. I also heard that Elvis was in ahh of Roy, since he could be the only singer at the time to rival him because he could write songs.
Roy was a joy, his guitar and music his joy and toy, he was a shy man that made him seem coy. He was and always will be our rock & roll boy, his guitar and music is ploy,
His shy ways and heart his Cory. ❤
I love Roy Orbison. I believe he was and is an icon, a legend. I think he was one of the most underrated singers ever he didn’t get his just dues and accolades he deserved like others did…..
Great video and informative narration of Roy Orbison's life a legend with a voice unlike any other. I was in high school in the 60's listening to pretty woman almost everyday a long with his other hits. He will always be remembered for his talent and his voice. RIP ROY ORBISON
Best singer song writer of all time! My husband of 57 years passed in 2023, played Pretty Woman on his deathbed, this was his favorite singer of all time and also mine, still play his cds, wish i could find more to buy and play!! RIP
My favorite. My 8th grade crush told me he thought of me to the song of Pretty Woman. Best compliment of a lifetime. Thanks. I went to Odessa High and Odessa Jr College too. Quiet safe town.
I grew up with the great RO. NOONE since his passing, has come close to his talent
He was one of my favorites.
He was a great influence with the Traveling Wilburys. I grew up watching him on tv. Every country music person was on the Porter Wagoner show, and the Grand Ole Opry. Rest in Peace Roy Orbinson. You will always be rembered and loved. 💞✌️❤️🌼
Was fortunate to see him in 1983, he was perfect love, hit all the high notes and was just like his records. Surprised oh pretty woman wasn't mentioned.
Amazing story something I wanted to know, I did purchase the recent 3 cd's, two with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and single Ultimate songs, but on those there are two songs I sing along, or while driving 'Only the Lonely' and 'California Blue' they have become my favorite, thanks to all these, April 23rd should be Roy Orbinson Day, many thanks again.
I just simply enjoy his music.
I thought he was older when he died.
It is a sad story but he brought joy to many people's lives
Awesome 👏 I was real young but I remember listening to his music when I was older.
Grateful for all of this interesting information. Roy was a great musician as were so many others who were in the Traveling Wilburys!🥰
I loved Roy and his beautiful wonderful music and songs. I am 73 years old and I still cherish his voice!❤🩹
My wife and I saw Roy perform in a small Disney venue in March 1988. We had front-row seats less than 20 feet from the stage. His voice was as pure and perfect as his recordings going back to the '60s. That was one of the best live performances I've ever seen. In retrospect, his death later that year made the event epic.
Nice. One thing that wasn’t mentioned is the Roy the second has a son named Roy the third. His godfather is also connected to the music industry: Joe Walsh (of the Eagles & James Gang fame).
Wow, thanks. Sad in parts, but his music lives on. ❤
It is 3:28 AM Eastern standard time on Monday. I believe it is May 6, 2024. Dr. Tom Miller PhD and this documentary man was just great. I loved it. I’m 70 years old. I’ll be 71 on May 29. This is great stuff. thank you so much for all the work you put in and to boys God bless you man with a legacy. I don’t know what else to say. It’s just great. It’s better than great. It’s great ha ha ha.❤
Saw him live shortly before he died, it was heaven already for me. I felt badly though to see him performing while being pelted with roses and women's underwear. God, he had the voice.
Love Roy Orbison and his music !!! Great singer. Blessings to Everyone ❤🙏🙏
What an incredible talent
I love all of Roy Orbisons songs 🎵 ❤ 💕
Roy orbison is of greatest singer I've ever heard ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I see a young Slim Whitman with Roy and the wink westerners in one of the photos from the mid 50s. Both could really hit those high notes like no other.
Almost operatic, spectacular! ❤
A story of resilience and persistence. Roy was a mans man
Great artist. Unfortunately, passed too early. The music remains. RIP Mr. Only the lonely!
His voice is unique and his songs part of the soundtrack of my youth. My brothers first date wtih his wife was to see a Roy Orbison concert in Calgary Alberta. God bless your journey forward Roy Orbison
Roy Orbison has been my all time favourite singer since adolescence when the very first album i ever bought was 'Crying'. His unique and beautiful voice touches me somewhere deep inside like no other singer. I still mourn his death.
He lost more than most i feel for him haveing had a life which i think folks may understand rest in peace roy see you one day you will never be forgoten
Wow . This is amazing! Thank you for putting this together.❤️
Roy Orbison's voice was incredible and I learned all of his songs by heart and have been able to sing them due to the emergence of karaoke back in the day. I can no longer hit the notes like before but I still love to sing them.
One of the all time great performers.
Thank you for a great overview of Roy Orbison’s life and career. Like so many others, I really enjoyed all of his music. What a unique and pleasing voice. Your fine story has allowed me to appreciate his music even more and equipped me with even more respect for him as a person. It appears his legacy is far greater that his musical talent. It must include his strength as a person to endure many tragedies and hardships that would have defeated most people. I miss him m even more now.
Very cool trivia..love that he went to college in my hometown
