    Your workouts are a tiny drop in the ocean compared to the impact the environment has on your body. In this video, I explore that relationship and why "immersion" might hold the key to perfectly balanced training and optimal performance.
    In short: the body is built to adapt to the environment. We have designed our environment to be as safe and comfortable as possible, which reduces the need for meaningful strength, mobility, or endurance. Everything is at arms-length, without us needing so much as to stoop.
    We can change this by changing our environment, or by changing the way we interact with our environment through our habits and routines.

    This is why I moved away from the city and now live amongst honey badgers and wolverines.
    I’m watching this video on a tablet I forged from coconut husks and asbestos while I stand in a horse stance until an incense stick burns out. The incense stick is actually a cobra.
    I grease the groove by climbing a mountain every time I need to use the bathroom. And only universal unisex bathrooms cause I’m an ally.
    Feeling cute, might fight a bear later, idk.

    You have revolutionized my health in every way I could think of. I went from skinny, sad, lethargic, and uncoordinated waking up every day and hating what I saw in the mirror to feeling better than I could have ever imagined. Based on circuits, repetition without repetition , crawling, high reps, and work flow, I have gained 30lbs of muscle and gained skills I never could have thought my body was capable of. I'm happy now, in a great relationship with a girl who brings up my ne talents any chance she gets due to the sheer pride she has in my transformation. None of this would be possible without your channel. Thank you

      @@erenjeager5290 I wrote a program that randomly created a circuit based on a pool of exercises. one minute per exercise with a one minute break every ten minutes for about an hour. The difficult part was balancing all the different motions (push, pull, rotational strength, forward jump, upward, side, etc). I also changed my diet. I learned that I can't digest meat, so I went vegetarian and eat five small meals a day. Counting macros has also helped. Of course, MMA also helped with coordination, but even then I turned my independent training into training reaction time, flexibility, and chaining everything together. Adam, this content is so spot on. I am 65 and when I was young up to the age of 24 I lived on a working farm where I did heavy manual labor most days. Over the years I did various activities like marathons, triathlons, martial arts, boxing, bodybuilding and powerlifting and while I may have been stronger in a single lift or able to run further I still never felt as overall fit and strong as when I was on the farm. I was lean and sinewy and ready for anything. When Covid hit I stopped the gym, went outside in harsh environments (I live in northern Maine, US) and began training much like you do utilizing whatever the environment provided. I feel so good, so much fitter and resilient overall. Thank You for your excellent channel and for the painstaking research you put into every video.

    • @straypaper

      Nah, it would even out. You generate electricity but consumes more food. The energy will be used to tend to the extra crops/livestock you eat or do other tasks to free up resources to tend to crops/livestock. Not to mention it's going to be extremely inefficient because a power plant like that is just going to make lots of heat from friction and little electricity. There's no revolutionary idea on the work here. If you want to move like a caveman, eat like a caveman, and look like a caveman, then logically you be a caveman. Civilization can't accommodate cavemen and a bunch of cavemen won't have a civilization beyond what a human can achieve within 60 years.

    The high repetition method is something I have used for almost forty years. High volumes of punches and kicks were required at the first dojo I studied at. And your mention of “farmers strength” gained from numerous repetitions is spot on. I’ve had to sling 50-70pd bales of hay literally hundreds of times in a single afternoon.
    Today, for me , it’s all about plasticity. The neurological damage I incurred from a mini-stroke led me back to body weight and light weight training, with high reps. A goal of mine for eleven years is walk without a limp again. I get glimpses of it from to time, always during long solo hikes.

      You’ll get better with practice, don’t worry, try to think of the goal of the workout and just go with it, if it is a pump workout, just focus on high rep feeling the burn exercise, sure you might have not chosen the best exercise, but you still got a burn because you did not stop to think, just kept the burn going, next time you’ll change that exercise, but you did the best thing at that specific workout at the specific time

      There's this one martial arts addage that Idk if it's even real but it goes something along the lines of, "When attacked, a beginner may react in thousands of different ways. A master, two or three."
      Essentially as you learn more, it becomes simpler, don't overanalyze, and with experience and practice when you think of the next "best" move you'll only have three options, instead of thousands

    Incredible content as always! As someone who recently returned to a manual / very physical job after several years of desk/driving work, i can wholeheartedly agree with the need to move more and encourage everyone to find any way they can to add more physical movement into their day. Even standing while watching a movie and using light dumbbells for wrist/forearm strength will kick start improvements and a desire to then do more....a snowball effect through each part of the body. Nothing (illness aside) will make you feel old and broken before your time than being sedentary for most of your day. Mobility, or should i say a lack of it, will steal your life away from you sooner than it should and you only have to look at an elderly relative to see how sad it is to 'stop living' and just exist.
    Keep moving 🙏🏻💪🏼

Just keep in mind you'll never be as good as anything you do as the individuals that only practices one for the same given amount of time. If you want to push limits, there's no going around specialization. Don't be delusional.

    I started working as a janitor in a big old building about a year ago. Nothing works there! I hated it in the beginning, huge old doors that weigh a ton to open them and close them, huge old garbage bins made out of iron that weigh a ton when empty, huge hoses I have to lift and move around everytime I have to powerwash something and many other things. The point is I ran into my exgirlfriend couple of weeks ago and she couldn't recognize me, she said I look bigger, stronger...she asked if I'm in the gym and if I'm using steroids or something?!! HAHA...I just answered, "NOPE! I'm just working hard in an huge old building!"...She also asked me if I would like to have some coffee with her one of these days...but that's another story. This video is 100% right, you are shaped by your environment! THUMBS UP! 😎👍

    Could not agree more with the final thoughts!
    Since having children I have extremely limited resources (time , energy, money for a high protein diet) to properly train like I used to while I was a pro athlete.
    So I built a pull-up bar in my yard, a Bulgarian sandbag out of a tire tube, bought some bands, dip bars, a sledge hammer, battle ropes and a tractor tire. I spread them throughout my house and yard (my wife hated me at the start, but now she partakes) and I'm basically repping all day long throughout the day. I even use my children as weights :D
    Since implementing this "lifestyle" I've obliterated my gut and am on my way to not only getting my physique back, but surpassing it too. And I don't remember the last time I have a training session that lasted longer than 30min.
    Also, I highly recommend Da Rulk's RFT (Raw Functional Training) exercises. It's past overdue that he finally gets the hype he's receiving atm.

    Ive been training like this intuitively for the last 2 years when I decided on my goal to just get stronger. In this much I have achieved a physique that most gym goers would envy and still I see so much more room for improvement. It is hard to lose motivation when I can see how much more capabilities my body would have if I was more athletic. I think this video comes close to describing that kind of feeling which I think most people miss out on when doing dull always-the-same kind of workouts. Sure aesthetics is one thing but how would you be performing if we had to fight to death right here and now? Which one of us would emerge victorious? I truly believe people should ask themselves this question more and connect with their primal side. After all that is the closest we ever get to nature.

I do that for about 3 hours or so then I do my workout for 30 min or so. But in the end the why not combine the best of both worlds, you have a certain workout with a certain goal(let’s say strengthen your shoulders) you device a workout at the moment utilizing mechanical overload exercises with methods you’ve learned “a man with its own principles can create its own methods. Training plans are methods learn the science behind the madness and you’ll take the reigns of your own fitness.

    My wife and I have been going to a Crossfit gym for the last six months and we were just talking yesterday how we don't think we have done the same workout twice. Sure, it is the same movements: pullups, cleans, snatches, squats, burpees, box jumps (okay, there are a lot of movements), but every workout is a different number of reps and sets, done with different stimulus before and after. I have seen results both in the gym and in real life that I have not seen doing regular 5x5 gym workouts. I am stronger in the gym and significantly more fit and strong in the real world.
    So while it isn't a perfect example because it is still an hour at the gym every day, I still think it is an example of exactly what you are talking about in this vid. Good stuff.

Combined with yogic breathing allows for longer cycles and expansion while in position. I just never knew what I was doing. I always used it as a pain killer to stretch any kinks in the body. I believe a specialization is as important as generalization.
    And because of that I believe we don’t need to be able to do everything, we just have to do the things needed to reach our goals (this might mean experimenting and testing someone else’s theories and ideas), but never the less, not trying new things without analyzing it’s potencial and trying it to see it’s benefits is a mistake I’ve made in the past

    • @martinlazarini2653
      @martinlazarini2653 3 года назад +2

      How about specializing in generalizing, human beings have been able to thrive because of their ability of being capable of doing a myriad of things, from climbing trees, mountains, endurance running, swimming, crawling, digging, etc... We are not even remotely close to being the best at any of these, however we are capable of doing all of them, this allows us to be competent in any environment and be complete, that’s why a human can survive both in the artic tundra and the desert whilst the cheetah doesn’t even though it is the fastest lane animal+ most examples of hyper specialization in animals lead to extinction, so yes specialize to your environments but realize that your greatest edge is being able to do everything, specialize in being general

    • @hollowwhite3620
      @hollowwhite3620 3 года назад

      @@martinlazarini2653 nope, we specialize to handle certain types of environments, and I’m not saying “neglect everything to become the best you can in a giving thing” but, specialize in one thing so you can gain a new ability or skill that you would otherwise wouldn’t gain from just letting you’re environment shape you.
      I think it’s just a good counter argument to the bioneer’s vid

    • @martinlazarini2653
      @martinlazarini2653 3 года назад +1

      Or maybe combine the best of both, your training sessions focused on specific goals and training whilst your environment or out of training activity is more varied and general to fill the gaps that you current skill doesn’t cover but will still help you in your training sessions. For example, Novak Djokovic stretches 4 times a day, is stretching tenis related not necessarily, but it aids inmensely for his recovery, mobility, joint pressure, movement etc... which is a crucial factor in his game style, he trains tenis by doing maintenance work on other “non-tenis”activities. You don't want to have to traverse a climbing wall to get to a loved one in trouble or not have access to first aid when you're injured because the cupboard with the first aid kit is too heavy/ complex to open with one arm or when dizzy. If you can find ways to make the movements mandatory, like the example of "heavy doors" or "balance beam in the hallway" from the video, it gives the user no choice. Furthermore, when you say that this practice is 'unsustainable' then that is belied by the fact these monks do, indeed, practice this regimen day after day their whole lives, generation after generation, for 100s and then 1000s of years. They may be doing this mistakenly, that's possible, but it can hardly be 'scientific fact' that it is unsustainable when it has instead been sustained for such a long amount of time and for many generations.
      In your hurry to seem knowledgeable and contradict me you have only shown that you are so impatient that you did not read what I wrote properly and so volatile that you started giving commands to people when they have merely given an accurate description of a process whilst neither condemning nor approving of that process.

    This has always been my head canon for DBZ in why current timeline Trunks still looks like a kid but Future Trunks looks like an adult. Cause he was constantly fighting, surviving, and training in the environment he grew up in so his body had to adapt. Kid Trunks live a much more pampered life style and thus still a kid and not as mature.

      I mean... future trunks looks like an adult because he's from the future. He is older that kid trunks so he looks older.
