    The one thing I realize about top notch racing gear is that world class equipment is really more about the stratospheric capabilities of the riders and drivers. 99.9% of the rest of us could never understand what the machine is capable of. And then there's Marquez, Dovi, Rossi and all...

    When you ride a particular type of bike, in a similar environment, for lap after lap after lap, a LOT of those mind processes begin to happen 'automatically'... But when you go from a street bike -- no matter how good it is -- with a different shift pattern and levels of both braking and acceleration, then EVERYTHING has to be processed 'on the fly' as you go thru it! Every adjustment of the throttle, every squeeze of the brakes, every ounce of rear brake, different braking and turn-in markers, DOWN on the shifter instead of up, ...every adjustment at every point on the track has to be processed as an active conscious thought and action...and at a FASTER RATE because you are riding a faster bike!
    The only way to really 'compare' the bikes is to go 'piece by piece' as to how each change effects the performance of the bike...And which of those changes could still be used on a Street Bike..?
    It would be the same with cars... WHY and HOW is a RACE C7-R Corvette faster around a track than a stock Z06...and could you drive the C7-R on the street..?

    • @2002RM
      @2002RM 7 лет назад +2

      This is a great analysis and echoes pretty much my own thoughts. Hence adding to your comment rather than making a new post. Fact is, it feels like they've missed a trick in not really comparing the experience of both other than some pretty obvious comments on cost and rider ability.
      What I really wanted to know is how the differences in both bike translates into speed and the difference in capability. The fact is, we already know there are a load of component differences - although it's difficult for the average rider to appreciate what differences translate most into performance. For example, if you took out all the unnecessary "Road weight" out of the R1M, it would be a far better performing bike than the road version. Add some slicks on a nice warm day and, Boom, performance just wen't up again. Add some BST CF wheels and... etc.
      So, as enjoyable as this video was, it's really a nothing as far as a real comparison between the bikes is concerned.

    I remember when top superbikes back in the day were the 750cc and were making over 170hp. To think my street bike would have more power than that blows me away. Needless to say just an HP comparison not all the other super fancy tech stuff.

      There is a 5 second difference between a WSBK and a stock R1M at Phillip Island. So all that extra money only buys you 5 seconds. Stock bikes are pretty close from the showroom floor.

      The price of a stock bike from the showroom, is closer bang for buck, to world level race trim, than say a typical Ferrari to formula 1

    • @tigertim20
      @tigertim20 Год назад

      @@danzrach1 5 seconds is an eternity in racing - its not "just" 5 seconds. n racing, 1 second a lap can be the difference between 1st and 15th place. 5 seconds back is MASSIVE. stock bikes arent in the same realm as a well set up race bike. not even close.
