@@Arne.Bornheim No.. You covered a lot of ground, all well covered. No, it is a good style of video. You can do detailed videos on each subtopic if you wish and put them in the links for more details, but, Concept videos or Summary videos are great. Especially if there is more info on the site about what you are covering.. I am fixing to look and see what else you have. I am interested in 3D printing and have not purchased yet.. I noted how to use Fusion 360 and Gridfinity Generator, camera, grid map to take a photo and import it and make a bin off of that.. That is actually what I am looking for. Is there a more detailed video on how to create something unique... Want to know where to start when I get the printer and have some experience printing the base grids, and boxes to organize some small parts drawers. I'm sure I will be wanting to do other things during the day and maybe start larger prints at night before I go to bed if all works out well.. Something I have done several time and know works well.
Great video, but i'm missing one very important thing: Links to models (Baseplates, Basic bins, OpenScad file, F360 plugin, etc...) - Not that i'm not able to find them, but since you've showed it, it would be nice to have direct links for others, that can struggle with finding things ;)
I definitely think you need a balance of custom and generic bins. I went crazy and printed a bunch of custom bins that now live in my failed prints box. The generic bins turned out to be far more useful in practice. That said, certain things that I use often and are very fiddly definitely benefited from a custom bin (e.g. my soldering iron and my calipers).
Great vid. I found Gridfinity a couple weeks ago and i cant stop printing. It fits almost perfect into my Ikea Alex drawers 7x12 grid with a 20mm spacer at the back. takes so long to print things on my ender3 v3 se but toatly worth it
Hello, first time viewer here. I like your style and also the fact that you do NOT try to be funny. Too many Ytuber are trying and it's frankly annoying. That being said, I'd like to know your opinion on Multigrid if you ever consider. Thanks for sharing with all of us
Happy to have you here 😊 Haha I hope I'm at least a bit funny :/ Sorry, do you mean multiboard (for walls) or mutligrid? Honestly I think it's all personal preference 😊 For the with Gridfinity it was the sheer amount of user modules that was the game changer...
any idea where I can find a more in depth tutorial on building custom bins? This wasn't in dept enough and to fast for me to understand what the heck is happening lol
Hey! sadly i couldn't really find one on RUclips right now. But honestly, if you have some basic knowledge of Fusion, it's pretty easy. For my easy modules I do the following: 1. Create a solid Gridfinity bin in the right dimensions with the Plugin 2. create a drawing on the top layer and then either trace from a photo or just draw according to measurements. 3. Just extrude and add some fillets I know it's probably a oversimplified explanation, but I hope it helps a little bit
What settings and infill pattern are you using? I usually use 10% I have tried less but ended up having problems. It was with a bad filament so I might have learned the wrong lesson that I can’t go lower…
@@Arne.Bornheim largely depends on what you're printing. I like to use the newer "Support Cubic" they added recently to Orca. It's pretty neat. I usually go with 5-10% unless the model needs extra rigidity. Even then it's usually better to increase the wall loops instead at that point
@ yes all of it very new to making customs and learning fusion from scratch lol got any plans to do a full tutorial step by step style to making customs bins
i think gridfinity is not the answer for the grey bins you have. and if you need to replace the gridfinity bins time to time you colud have replace grey bins too
true! the grey bins were more meant to show a way of sorting things that went really wrong because stuff was just always thrown on top and the system didnt really change with the use
It's so disappointing to see Zack Freedman getting all the credit when all he did was take a system by Alexandre Chappel ruclips.net/video/CHFK5sY8ToE/видео.html. All Zack did was make a free, parametric version.
@@fogfestival I watched the video and didn't see Alexandre get mentioned, just Zack And no, I don't think Alexandre was the first. But Zack made a point of how he took Alexandre's idea and just made it free and parametric and now he's the one getting all the credit which seems wrong to me.
Hi David, thanks for your feedback! I understand what you mean. For me, gridfinity is the best because of all the community modules. The base system with bins is nice but nothing too special. Totally agree that Alexandre made something fairly similar as the base version of gridfinity though. (and I think @fogfestival meant that Zack mentioned alexandre in his video, not me 😊 )
@@Arne.Bornheim "Totally agree that Alexandre made something fairly similar as the base version of gridfinity though" Zack explicitly says he took the design from Alexandre in his first video. Also, it's Davyd, not David

'mad' is not appropriate and I think is quite offensive. Zack Freedman is a high functioning polymath with ADHD. I also have ADHD; if someone called me mad I would certainly challenge them. I think it is sloppy thinking and misleading so, by brushing off your stupid comment by saying 'I hope that's okay to say...', this is not acceptable, given that you are jumping on the coat-tails of his ideas. It's great that you appreciate the benefits of this ingenious system but please be more careful in how you refer to people who are not 'mad' (or ill), but occupy a niche in society that often provides others with imaginative ideas, prepared to take risks and contrast to the other 96% of the population.
thanks for your input. I think there's a difference between calling someone a "mad scientist" and calling someone mad. He gives of that vibe of someone whacky and creative. It was meant more as a compliment that anything else. This was never about Zack personally, since I respect him a lot.
@@Arne.Bornheim it still does not get away from the fact that you make it sound flippant. Perhaps you do respect the man but ultimately to make light of his condition proves you do not understand how people with ADHD suffer. I just wish you would be more mature in your approach. Amazing editing. You jump around but it all feels continuous and the audio levels all match. Well done.
Thanks so much! Do you think it’s too much jumping around? Have been thinking about doing it slightly less for future videos!

Amazing efforts on this project, I saw you video about how to automate print this stuff. I would enjoy some kind o tutorial or course in that.

Do you have your created parts available? I love this system and need somewhere to put my deburring tool and blades!
where did you get those large grey bins from?
It’s called a eurobox (not sure if that’s only a European thing or if those things are available worldwide)

Lower your infill settings. Some of those are way dense. Probably a factor in your filament use complaint

how do I make such timelapse on my printer?

Just saw this, please note, “gridfinity” is a rip off.. he didn’t “design” it, he copied it because he was too cheap to pay a few bucks to Alex.
So you are producing one purpose bin’s out of plastics? Not very thoughtful.
