  • Official PRIER Products Repair Video--If your Mansfield Style 400 or 500 Series residential hydrant is leaking from the vacuum breaker, you can repair the hydrant from the exterior of the structure with parts from the Wall Hydrant Repair Kit part # 630-7500. *PLEASE NOTE: Since the creation of this video, we have updated our vacuum breakers to aluminum caps. These caps are seen on the C-144, P-164 and 400 Series Residential Hydrants, as well as the C-144KT-806 and 630-7500 kits. These vacuum breakers are now universal and will fit all past and present PRIER and Mansfield style residential hydrants.
    This video demonstrates the repair of the Mansfield style hydrants that were manufactured by Mansfield until April 2007. PRIER Products has been manufacturing these hydrants since April 2007.

    Thanks for showing how easy this was to fix (PRIER model C-144). Turned out the o-ring around the poppet was out of place. I gently pushed it back in with a small screwdriver and the leak is no more ;-). Thank you!

    This video and comments below about white vacuum breaker having broken off were very helpful - especially suggestion to use hair dryer to soften the hard white plastic. Note: since this video was make, the replacement part for the vacuum breaker has apparently been modified. In Wall Hydrant Repair Kit #630-8500, the white plastic part self contains the poppit (sp?) that is in the middle. I was worried about damaging the poppit in the middle but no need to be concerned.

    If you’ve let your faucet freeze over (left hose connected). What checks should I do?
    - replace vacuum breaker (it popped up)
    - visually inspect pipes now (winter)
    Any thing else come to mind. Should I try and thaw it out?

    So I was pleased with how simple my new sillcick went in. Here we are in August with 90 degree heat one month later and the vacuum is leaking. Well it doesn’t look like a hard replacement kit and obviously it certainly is annoying and questions my purchasing this new Silcox for verse another brand

    What if the white breaker is broke off inside the hydrant (i.e. nothing for pliers to grip to turn it)?

      Hi there, can you clarify your question? Are you asking what to do if the white vacuum breaker is broken? Is there no way to remove the white piece with any other kind of tool? Feel free to call our customer service line at 800-362-9055 if you want to speak with us directly.

      Hi, i tried to pry the white piece instead of screw it out. I didn't realize there were threads. Now the top part broke off, and the threaded part is stuck inside the faucet. I tried to pull it out and/or cut around the inside, but it won't move.

      Use a hair dryer to heat up the plastic until soft and gently scrape the plastic off with a flat head screwdriver

    the plastic cap shattered and the bonnet is stuck inside, how do I get it out?

    • @PrierProducts
      @PrierProducts  6 лет назад

      We are sorry to hear that! The bonnet is threaded so you can try using pliers around the outside to twist it out. Give us a call at 1-800-362-9055 if you have any more trouble or need some troubleshooting assistance.

    I'm very confused. I replaced the whole vacuum breaker and cap with the equal Prier replacement kit one mentioned here and double checked installation, yet water is still seeping down out of the sides of the cap. If I've replaced the whole thing now with a new one, how could it still be leaking?
    Fyi - My original breaker and replacement kit are the newer version where the inside piece of the breaker that has the small o-ring is fully locked inside the larger white piece due to a small plastic screen bottom piece that snaps into place (so the inner small piece cannot fall out).

      Ever figure it out?

    • @guts311
      @guts311 6 дней назад

      @@Ac1DMoDz Not really - I kept the newer one on after re-tightening it and re-doing the plumber's tape a few times and I think it still may trickle water out at times but never much. So can't tell if it is defective or something else but just left it as-is for now and it isn't that bad.

    you dont mention the o ring.

    • @PrierProducts
      @PrierProducts  5 лет назад +1

      We do not mention the O ring in this video because it is not included in the vacuum breaker. If you have questions about the O ring, feel free to call us at 1(800)362-9055!
