- Use your iPhone to photograph the stars, its very easy to do. All you need is a tripod and some dark sky.
When I started taking photos of the stars with my iPhone 11 Pro, I was amazed that it could even do it.
The same method was used to photograph the stars with the iPhone 12 Pro and the 13 Pro, even the 14 Pro.
Now that Im using the iPhone 15 Pro Max to photograph the stars, the photos are even better.
This is aimed at the person who is a beginner. How to take photos of the stars for a beginner.
We use Adobe Lightroom to edit the photos in this video.

I just got my iPhone 15 pro max, can’t wait for Milky Way season in central USA. Took a test picture and it blows my iPhone 13 Pro Max out of the water. Never seen so many stars.
Leaps ahead of the 13 pro mate.
Bro please make one video on S24 ultra and Vivo x100 pro for astrophotography.....
If you send him those phones I bet he’d do it.
Ngl I hade the pixel 6 and he's video help me a lot, just got a s24 ultra today and was gonna ask the same thing need some tip on this phone 😅
S24U has the same sensor as s23u and it's not even better it's worse sometimes. So what is the point? 1inch sensor would be more Intresting
Send me the phones, I will do it.
Have you tried astrophotography with S24 ultra ?
do you will try to do it with samsung S24 ULTRA IN SHARE IT WITH US SOME DAY ??
Not sure, still on the fence about it. Not really that much change from the previous. The S23U didnt last 6 months before the astro went bad after an update. Lots of people in FB groups talking about how bad it is. As I buy all of the phones I test with my own $, Im reluctant to spend that much to be not better off. Still thinking about it.
About that App Even Longer. Is it correct you can not change the view to 16:9??
Awesome foto even for a mobile phone 👌✨✨
Not too shabby for roadside Astro!
I thought it was incredible for roadside astro mate
Thanks Shayne for all the videos! I don't know much about photography and editing images but with your help I've been able to get some images on my Samsung phones I never would have imagined possible. I enjoy seeing how these small sensor camera phones at times can hold their own against expensive dedicated cameras. Obviously they are limited but can produce some incredible results. Thanks for the videos! My hope for future videos is to see you wearing that nice Caterpillar hat you've worn in the past! 😉
Cheers legend, I do love hearing that sort of thing. The CAT hat died, fell apart. Looking for a new one.
Did not know until I came across your channel that my iPhone 15 Pro Max could do Astro photography. I am amazed by the pictures you take. All I want now is an AI app that can take some suggestions on what I want and suggest when I should head out. Want an AI wrapper around PhotoPills, weather app and misc Astro prediction apps. Anything like that around?
No not really mate, at least not that I know of
I modelli base riescono ?
Would love to see what you can do with a Vivo X100 Pro. The 1 inch sensor is amazing and you can even take light astromode pictures handheld with 3 seconds.
It really is insane.
Its just not available here mate.
Awesome. What are the limitations of using an 11 Pro compared to later models of Iphones?
Smaller sensor, smaller pixel size. The 11 was the first to do this, it has gotten better since then
Have you tried apps to extend the capture time pass 30s and is it worth the effort?
Yes absolutely. Even Longer is the best one for star trails. Thats the issue really. Beyond 30 seconds and you end up with star trails. Unless you have a tracker. I have a few videos about EL.
How the heck does your phone know it’s attached to a tripod anyway?
Senses it. I suspect with a gyro or something like that.
Great video mate keep up the good work cheers, and I bought a ip15promax after watching your previous Milky Way tests so cheers for the heads up
I did some Astro and northern lights pictures last week in Lapland using this phone
Here’s a link to the photos and video if anyone is interested

Nice mate. Some good pics there
@@ShayneMostyn cheers
Hey Shayne, how can I take a photo or video of the upcoming (April) solar eclipse with my iPhone 12 pro max? Thanks!
Could you please also talk about focusing the sky, and also how to locate the Milky Way direction too? Thanks in advance
I’ve seen this with my own eyes in the mountains of Chile and was an amazing experience! I wish I knew these tips while there my profile pic was taken without a tripod and half the tips you have stated. I can’t wait to go back and try out the new tips!
The stars can blur a little with longer exposure time because they are moving
Another great learning video. Thanks, Shayne
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! I didn't know about this app but now thanks to your info, I now have it on my iPhone and will try it out soon.
It's very interesting to see astrophotography on vivo x100 pro. No info on RUclips... (
Its not readily available here unfortunately.
LOVE THIS! Can't wait to try some of these techniques on an upcoming adventure.
Cheers mate, thanks for watching :)
The photo is superb! The edit is Superber!! What camera app did you use when taking your image? Also, aren’t there star trails at 30 secs?
Thanks mate. This is the camera app on the phone.
Brother - what a great vid. Just starting my astrology photo journey and this was super easy to follow. That before and after....wow. Superb! Appreciate you!
Glad it was helpful! Loads of content on the channel that is as helpful as this. Careful though, it can be addictive! :)
you caught the unicorn of a clear sky over Pittsburgh. but also mention you need a dark sky without light pollution. anyone who would heard that newscast would have issues with light pollution. :(
I put that there specifically for you mate ;)
Absolutely stunning job, 🏴
Cheers matey
Thank you for sharing how you edited in Lightroom.
My pleasure!
